Well if they get the costs down to R12,000 in the meantime there should be no problem. We just have to wait for the platinum price to revert to the norm i.e. 30% higher than gold which will happen. The question is when? The problem is that analysts base Lonmin on current platinum prices or within a very narrow range. For example when palladium was below $200 in 2009 they probably had no idea that within 8 years it would go to over $1000. Events change and sometimes very quickly. I think Lonmin has great potential but we shall have to wait and see...

Good to see ruthenium which was trading below $60 this time last year up over $200 now. Iridium currently $1020 up from $850 and rhodium now above $2000 from $1000 a year ago. Palladium is back to $980. In the last quarter Lonmin produced 292,000 oz of PGMs. Platinum production was 147,000 oz.

I already have a holding in Sibanye but I think that there is a good chance that a higher offer will come to the table. We shall have to wait and see...

Glencore's CEO. They once had a 24% stake in Lonmin but they chose to divest their stake by giving it to shareholders. In my humble opinion that caused the sell off in Lonmin which later resulted in the heavily discounted rights issue.

It seems the new school for 747 pupils built by Lonmin has been successful with pleasing the locals. Hopefully they will put the past behind them and look to the bright future at Marikana. What happened to Zwane the mining minister who suspended Lonmin's mining license back in November? For those of you who don't know he got sacked.... The same minister who went on trips to Switzerland to have meetings with whom? Any guesses?

The 2017 Results are behind us and I think that most investors like myself will be focusing on the potential of the 2018 results... They have obviously hit a sweet spot recently and hopefully they will produce some more large stones. In the short term I would say they are more likely to hit 120 than 80. We shall have to wait and see but in the meantime I am more than happy to hold on.

I am not saying that plat will go up $300 in the next seven months but I would say it would easily be achievable in the next 2years. If a potential bidder thinks the same way as myself they will value it with regards to potential value. You make think that the refineries and smelters are worth below $30m because that is what they are valued at in the books. The true value of anything is what somebody is willing to pay for it. I am probably not alone in thinking that Froneman for one would know what its true worth is to Sibanye. The problem is that today ceo's are often accountants and not businessmen. Felix Culpa...

Rastuss- I have for some time thought that Laird was a takeover target and guess what happened today. There were people on different bulletin boards comparing them to Carillion and others saying the company was going to go to zero. You are doing the same here saying Lonmin has no future and now comparing it to Toys are crap... I happen to think that Lonmin is worth a lot more than what Sibanye are offering and it is quite possible that a higher bid will materialise. I personally don't think that platinum will stay at these levels for long. If the plat price went up $300 which is easily plausible Lonmin would throw offf a lot of cash and the share price would be many multiples of the current price.

Is it me or is there anybody out there who is curious with the motives of certain posters. It seems rather odd that somebody would want to waste their time rubbishing a company day after day and claim to have no agenda. I would assume the opposite and that they do have an agenda and it is based on making current holders nervous so they sell their shares to enable them to pick them on the cheap. It smacks of desperation to me. All this rubbish banded around valuing the smelters and refineries at $30m. The fact that Sibanye will pull out and buy the assets off the administrator. Sibanye aren't in a position to buy anything or do you think that sibanye will offer the administrators shares in Sibanye? If it is the belief that the game is up for Lonmin why waste time and effort posting on here? Are you perhaps being good Samaritans? I very much doubt it...
