If the hedge funds who are shorting this suggest TED should be valued at nav then maybe they should check out the nav's of tech companies in the US and short them. They talk absolute tosh. As for the website used that is referred to as simply bs...

Good to see Lockwood having faith and buying 110,000 shares before he has even sat in his chair. Hopefully others will participate and force the hedgies to foxtrot Oscar...

Dave - Is it being shorted or manipulated?

Tricky - A big find will change sentiment here. One has to remember that GEMD find large stones and they still carry value. It's the small stones in particular that have lost demand so they shouldn't be pigeonholed into this category. The current market cap of the company is a bit of a joke at the moment and it wouldn't take too much to reverse this. About 75% of the shares are in a few hands and the largest (Sustainable) increased their holding not that long ago. Surely the others may decide to do the same soon. At this price buying 1% isn't going to cost a fortune.

We don't know for sure if the dividend has been cancelled. If it hasn't then this is yielding over 10% so particular pension funds would find this to difficult to resist and buy more. They may also like the fact that Bab**** has a decent order book and will be able to pay dividends going forward.

Realistic - They haven't put an RNS out to my knowledge but I just can't see it happening. If they do we will get a bonus. Lets face it who is paying a dividend at the moment... It seem across the board that it's de rigueur to forfeit dividends.

With regards to paying a dividend the company have to be tactful as it wouldn't look that great to the company's largest customer to pay a dividend to it's shareholders while in turn they are paying for some of the company's employees via the furlough scheme. Surely shareholders would prefer to see a new contract win from Her Majesty's Government then all of a sudden this will turn in to a shorter's nightmare...

Amazing how posters on these bulletin boards pretend to be shareholders isn't it. It's all rather transparent...

Funds throwing away money - You could be right if you are referring to the hedge funds that are shorting this...

With a current mkt cap of circa £133m they only have to make £13.3m for a pe ratio of 10. I think they will be making a lot more than that in future years. I think they are well placed to come through this period and do extremely well. The problem is that these boards are filled with traders rather than investors and to them one week is long term. Either you believe in the brand and the future turnaround or you don't. I very much doubt investors who took up shares in the oversubscribed placing are selling them at the current price. It seems as though a second outbreak and a No deal is priced in to the market but if these don't occur we will get a V shaped recovery and this could easily double from this current price imho.

Considering the situation TED have made some proactive decisions firstly the sale and leaseback of the head office and secondly the rights issue. Although there is tough competition TED has decent brand recognition and what it offers is quite unique. Maybe another consideration is the slavery act. Surely protestors today should have more of an issue with companies taking advantage of slave labour to pulling down statues of people who were practising it hundreds of years ago. Having said that the young are supposed to be more environmentally friendly but are happy to leave their copious amounts of rubbish on the beech to be washed out to sea. Who knows but there seems to be a lot of hypocrisy going on at them moment. I wonder how many of those protestors were wearing items from boohoo... Anyway I believe TED now represents good value at this level and I have been toping up. GLA

It's in certain political interests to keep hedge funds going as they donate financially to political parties. What I have a problem is that the money often used by hedge funds has come by ill gotten gains. Hedge funds are nothing more than pimps for terrorists, gangsters and politicians at the end of the day. They think by having an office in Mayfair legitimises their business. It doesn't...

RB - The share price was at 450 a few weeks ago. I very much doubt the Board will accept that let alone recommend it to their shareholders. The company has a strong order book and should do well over the medium term. I was in both Laird and Cobham and did very well with them. Laird was an obvious takeover and it was so transparent the shenanigans going on that I am surprised it wasn't looked into by the FCA. I saw the same pattern emerge with Cobham and it looks as though it could be happening here too. If that is the case I wonder which hedge fund is being used by the acquirer... Brown envelopes and in this case perhaps a transfer of cash to a Panamanian bank account...

I very much doubt that GEMD would be interested in PDL's assets. GEMD would have to take on too much debt in order to do this. PDL potentially could be a long term bargain to an aquirer who can get cheap debt but GEMD are not big enough for this. To put things into perspective PDL's turnover is just over double of GEMD'S but their debt is twenty times more. If a diamond company is going to be taken over GEMD looks like a much better bet. GEMD only needs another decent find to transform the share price whereas PDL needs a miracle. IMHO

Don't worry they will RNS when they find something really significant. It's positive that they don't consider this worthy of an RNS. I feel it is just a matter of time before they find a magnificent stone which will be worth more than the market cap.

Another little flurry of sales in the last minute to suppress the price. Someone doesn't want this to rise do they... I remember someone mentioning a bid here before. They could be right. The directors seem to be getting their eggs lined up with share purchases and rewards.

A few more finds like this will do nicely. Funny millennium reduced their short before this latest find isn't it?

Well I am glad I sold out at at 137. I am back in at this price as I was impressed when visiting a lot of shops and I thought what Ted had to offer was very good compared to other retailers. I really don't know what has happened to Burberry but it isn't my cup of tea... The manager of the Ted Baker store commented that they had been a lot busier than they were expecting and they had easily exceeded their targets. I suggest other shareholders go to their local shop and have a look and ask a few questions. Sometimes you can learn more about a business this way than talking to management. Why do you think hedge funds employ private detectives...
