RE: BT - Vodafone1 Sep 2020 12:25
The FTSE has been helped by foreign miners like BHP, Rio Tinto etc in that time frame, what would be the real level be if there were no delegations. It would probably be about 2000. Remember the likes of Burton, Magnet, English China Clay, MFI and Racal to name a few. More recently NMC went into administration and effectively their valuation went from the Β£Bn's to Β£0. If you take inflation into account the returns would be negative unless you included dividends. The main benefactors have been over payed bod's. It's run as a bit of a club and nice work if you can get it...
Funds have all gone over the pond inflating US tech shares. The valuations on companies like BT are a joke in comparison and it makes it an even bigger kick in the teeth when you consider US hedge funds short FTSE companies.
The tide will turn eventually.
