A dividend may bring back income funds but the hedge funds won't like it. With regards to a takeover they may have already received an offer but not considered it if the bod didn't think that it reflected the true worth of the company. They do look vulnerable to cheeky bids.

I urge all shareholders to contact their MP's as I have done yet again. The shorting practice and the ways they go about doing it are no more than criminal in my book. They shall be held accountable because they will have blood on their hands. The government can't be seen to help out the tiny minority over the majority. We are talking about hard working people who have pride and paid taxes keeping the country ticking yet these hedge funds pay sweet FA using offshore accounts. I will not be satisfied until they are all banged up in jail. Lets have a fair playing field if funds or investors want to sell fine but don't exacerbate it by hedge funds selling what they don't own and do it in such a way that causes a false market. Not only will I hold the hedge funds accountable but the Government too if they don't intervene as its good hard working people of this country that has made it what it is not the snivelling little hedge fund managers. They are not the ones who fight wars, work in hospitals, factories, farms and the like that are the backbone of this country. All these people have pensions and it is their pensions that are being driven down by this tirade of despicable individuals. The hedge funds are ultimately making them poorer for their own greed. Silence is compliance...

The main reason this has been a falling knife is the incessant selling by the hedge funds. They have created a false market by selling shares they don't own and flooding the market to cause capitulation. The reason they get away with it is that they fund political parties just like the NRA in the US. Many countries saw fit to temporarily ban shorting like France, Spain, Greece and Belgium to name a few but the AIMA which supports the practice has more power over here. Once the death rate for people committing suicide because of lost jobs and financial woes people will wake up and litigate the hell out of these companies. It is only a matter of time mark my words...

Lockwood has purchased £100,000 worth of shares. He must have some faith in the company and its prospects.

Yes, the company did investigate boatman but what was done about it. More importantly what have the UK government and the FCA done about it. Nothing.... They should be held accountable as they have not imposed any fines or sentences as far as I am aware. It's nothing more than daylight robbery. Premier oil had an undisclosed short of over 15% by an outfit based in HK what has been done there? Surely in this case as the UK government is Bab****s biggest client and that they are responsible for providing the MOD with goods and services more importance should have been placed as all in all it's part of the national security of the UK. Allegedly it was written by an ex Times journalist. If the writer was publishing false rumours and lies which caused monetary damages he and who was behind him should be facing prison sentences and hefty fines.. Lets face it people have served time for a lot less. If the company is too weak to do anything about it shareholders should as at the end of the day we are the ones being screwed... There should be a proper investigation and all hedge funds shorting this should be investigated. I will write to my local MP and urge other disgruntled investors to do the same as what is happening here is criminal in my book...

Why would they issue a rights issue as by not paying the final dividend would have helped reduce the debt and during the period, they repaid the revolving credit facility and extended its term by a year. This facility of up to £775 million now expires in August 2025. In total, the Group has access to around £2.4 billion of borrowings and facilities of mostly long-term maturities. I really can't understand why they would go for a rights issue now and if so presumably it would be a board decesiion and not solely down to Lockwood. I personally think this has been orchestrated for a takeover. One thing for sure a lot of underhand dealings have been going on here... I would like to see some justice.

This will fly through the 40s with another find. It can't be too long now. Just to think only a few months ago it was suggested here that Graff may be picking GEMD up from the administrators. It's quite incredible how the Hedgies try and inflict fear on potential buyers. The volume has increased which would suggest they are behind the buying. I wonder if the analysts are going to stand by their targets...

The shares are down because they have been shorted. Kontiki and Gladstone have increased their short positions recently. Certain hedge funds hand out a lot of brown envelopes to analysts, brokers and journalists in order for them to influence the share price. Quite a few hedge funds also employ journalists mainly for their contacts. Allegedly Boatman was a Times journalist. Why would you go to all the trouble of setting up a domain in Panama if all his facts were true? The Times couldn't afford to print the rubbish he was printing as they would have a law suit . He has gone rather quiet hasn't he since he has been found out. I think the bod at Bab**** were a bit weak as they should have reported him to the authorities and taken legal action and got to the bottom of whom was funding him. It's not too late and if they are not prepared to take such action maybe the shareholders should.

Well if they find a few more large diamonds I think the 30s will be behind us once and for all. Just imagine if they can find one over 500ct's that would propel it over 50p. I think this is a great risk reward especially considering the debt or soon the lack of it.

I don't think the analogy with Tesco really works as there are thousands of slaughterhouses but if there happened to be a farm that continued to produce bigger and tastier cattle year after year then they might just be interested. I know there are quite a few diamond mines but I feel this is different as it produces some rare and large diamonds which could mean a guaranteed supply at cost for a small amount of money for a company like LVMH. They would also save quite a bit as the London office, listing and directors would all go. After all LVMH did buy a whopper which was uncut earlier on in the year. I know it is a long shot but if I was running a company such as LVMH I would consider it just for the continuation of supply especially considering they have made no secret that they intend on getting into jewellery in a bigger way.

I think they have hit a sweet spot and will no doubt find some more large stones. Maybe the best strategy is to wait until the auction and focus on the prices obtained. Brokers don't like GEMD and that doesn't help in the short term but at some point the market will wake up and take notice. The bod's need to prove that they can turn these finds into a meaningful return to shareholders as in all fairness they have received nothing in the way of dividends and a share price that has spiralled down. I personally think they should use a percentage of the recent large finds to buy back shares. This company would be ideally suited to fit in with the likes of LVMH. Imagine they could have their own supply of amazing stones for under £100m it pails into insignificance when you think they are offering north of $14Bn for Tiffany.

Another good find. It's quite incredible that the share price is at these levels considering these finds. Maybe if they find a high quality stone above 700ct the market will take notice.

I wish the holders a bit of luck at PDL as its rather unfortunate what has transpired over the last few years. To think we have had 3 major finds, results that exceeded expectations and reduction of debt yet we are trading at less than 35p.

I don't think PDL's assets would have been a consideration and if it were the bod's need to see where the share price is. Taking on more debt at this stage would just give an excuse for the company to be shorted even more.
Well I am sure those who follow analysts will be pleased to note that Berenberg have increased their target from 26 to 31. I would love to know the parameters and metrics they use. So to think that debt hasn't risen and they have discovered two stones which should have a combined value of at least $20m warrants a 5p increase. I really don't understand why they didn't put a 5p price target on to help their shorts friends out so they can unwind their positions. They will need a bit of luck and better pray that GEMD don't find any more large stones as they really will look like halfwit's...

I am definitely holding and will add on the dips as they are sure to find some more decent stones. It will get exciting when the recent finds come up for auction...

This is very good news and I don't think the market have totally taken it on board yet. This also puts the fingers up to the hedge funds shorting this whom could be in cahoots with a potential acquirer. I can only see this going one way now and it's not down. GLA

Great news which should put a floor under the price. Not very good timing with regards to the ic article was it? I did say it's generally best to do the opposite of what they suggest and you can put brokers into that bracket too.

These numbers do not include the recent large finds so we have that to look forward to in the next results. Not bad results considering the mine was shut down for a period and considering the state of the diamond industry.
How on earth is debt going to rise with the recent large finds? Do you still believe colonel that Graff will be buying GEMD from the administrators because it was only a month or two ago that you suggested that as a likely outcome. Did you also not state that debt will be $15m at this point?

Yes, the volume is pitiful and sums up the lack of conviction of fund managers and the majority of investors. They have done a lot for Lesotho with the various projects that they have sponsored and continue to do which is all very well but the shareholders deserve a fillip. Buying back shares would be a welcome start...
