Buybacks Dividends Or Both23 Feb 2021 03:44
As a long term investor & trader of Lloyds shares, my preference votes for dividend over buybacks.
I understand all the positives for buybacks & staff related incentives.
Many investors preferences to others, is food on the table today, instead of jam tomorrow.
For every 100,000 shares invested 1.50p div is 1,500 gbp.
A good number of people retired from 55 years old onwards have a plan to enjoy retirement. A portfolio consisting of 500,000 Lloyds shares would be 7.5k as part of retirement.
A good number of old age pensioners rely on small dividends to pay the bills (that's the real world) a few thousand extra per year of dividend's offers an anxiety free retirement for elderly couples or singles.
BOD are out of touch with investors and living in a bubble.
I'm in a fortunate position but millions of investors would prefer a long overdue dividend.
