Greg Abel's commitment to spend his entire after tax salary on Berkshire stock along with the buyback of company stock is as clear a signal as they could transmit that $500 per B share is below their estimate of intrinsic value.

The filing did not include any further details on how many shares had, or will be, repurchased, simply repeating the company’s “long-standing” policy that permits buybacks “at any time we believe the repurchase price is below our intrinsic value, conservatively determined.”

For the full-year 2025, operating earnings totalled $44.49 billion. That’s down from $47.44 billion in the year prior.

Profits from insurance underwriting came in at $7.26 billion, down from $9 billion in 2024.

Insurance investment income for the year eased to $12.5 billion from $13.6 billion a year prior.

Overall earnings, which include gains or losses from the conglomerate’s stock market investments, fell slightly in the fourth quarter to $19.2 billion from $19.7 billion a year prior. However, those numbers were impacted by a $4.5 billion impairment from Berkshire’s investments in Kraft Heinz and Occidental Petroleum.

Full year overall earnings, meanwhile, fell to $66.97 billion from $89 billion a year prior.

I enjoyed Greg Abel's first letter. He was keen to emphasise that short term fluctuations will not deflect him or BH from continuing to follow their guiding principles.

“The amount of investment gains (losses) in any given quarter is usually meaningless and delivers figures for net earnings per share that can be extremely misleading to investors who have little or no knowledge of accounting rules,”

Ho much do you pay for hour FX rates? Just bought these too recently, but the fx rates are eye watering. Luckily, like you intend to hold indefinitely.

I’ve had these for 15 years (when they were $150) and regularly top up, so it’s now by far my largest holding. And, unsurprisingly, Mr Buffet’s choices have done much better than virtually all my own selections, with the honourable exception if Jackson Financial.

No divi is no problem. At the moment I don’t need the income. If/when I do, I’ll just top slice a few - at current rates, you could take 10% as income and still have 10% capital growth virtually every year.
