Share buy back to commence tomorrow after sale of Spain completed.
"To add, I think there are rules about buying back your own shares for cancellation, & vod could not afford to buy them back on the open market without a very high risk of going bust."
What in god's name is this tripe !
CWWX.. Of course vod could not take the sp back to £2 simply by buying back it's own shares. I think however the proposed 4 billion, staged buy back is a good thing, & might take it to 80p if we are very lucky. Profits is what is needed in the long run, so who knows. I think vod is worth well over a pound, but just buying back shares is not going take it to that price, only the market can do that. To add, I think there are rules about buying back your own shares for cancellation, & vod could not afford to buy them back on the open market without a very high risk of going bust.
"When will Garonne post that he is disappointed that the share is only 3%, he was expecting more, and that is why Margarita hasn't bought any?
More importantly, where is Guttersnipe. He promised us a "big droope" to 62p!"
Avocet
Nobody actually gives a sh1it !
“It could simply take the sp back to £2 just by buying its own shares!”
Errrrr, no.
Show me another that’s done 300% (ish) because of a share buy back.
Thanks jesteh. I think you are right. 5.7p over 8 months
Divi is 3.8p now next time 1.9p probably then 1.9p again 1 year from now.
So 2 x 3.8p over 12 months, not 8
Have a good day all!
Boo says 2 x 3.8p over the next 8 mths, but that would mean a 3.8p interim divi next year. I thought the divi's next year were 3.8p in total? Any thoughts on that please?
Absolutely booboo - most people forget this stock is doing 2B buy back this year and next.
It could simply take the sp back to £2 just by buying it's own shares!
If you don't get it then there is no hope.
But even on the daily charts there is no resistance till 75p. Then top of the channel might drop it back to 70p.
Weekly declining chart top is not until about 85p! It's gonna hit that target then drop back. I'll wait - please sell if you are so inclined!
I think the dividend expectation is incorrect. Next 8 months gets you 3.8p + 1.9p = 5.7p dividend. So dividend in short term is ~8%.
When will Garonne post that he is disappointed that the share is only 3%, he was expecting more, and that is why Margarita hasn't bought any?
More importantly, where is Guttersnipe. He promised us a "big droope" to 62p!
Hello Gary. A good positive post from you, I am back in profit on my last 2 buys, still a long way to go for me though, but I am not selling anytime soon. Good luck to all vod shareholders.
Let's face it ATM 72p buys you 2 x 3.8p divs over the next 8 months during which time a £4B share buy back will be underway.
The next FTSE100 company most likely for a T/O in the next 12 months has to be VOD ,its simply a question of when.
Well here we are holding above 70p with decent next dividend announced, no surprises there.
Over the next couple of years at least 4 billion will be spent on share buybacks, yes a cut in the dividend is happening but that will free up a lot of money for debt reduction. Money coming in from the sales in Spain & Italy will also reduce debt as well as pay for buybacks. Management in place now seem to have a good plan for a streamlined business focusing on key areas for growth.
Today Vodafone reported group revenue of €36.7bn, service revenue grew 6.3% o €29.9bn & underlying cash profit saw organic growth to €11.0bn.
Importantly net debt excluding the sales of Spain & Italy, was flat at €33.2bn but money is earmarked to reduce that.
Salary costs & business costs (utilities etc) will be much lower this time next year & underlying cash profit will be around €10.8 bn this coming year.
All of this is great news & it must put VOD firmly on the radar for a takeover, those people across the water do love a business generating profits of almost 11 billion euros.
G59 ain't selling anytime soon, good luck all
I recently switched from 02 to vodafone and im much happier with vodafone, great company and going from strength to strength ,vodafone is where its at. :))))))
Market sentiment is one of the primary drivers of the share price, impossible to evaluate the company based on share price alone
Moaning Mikey is back. Him & Garonne the moan make such a happy couple. Good run lately, so let's hope it continues.
Mole you always only ever look at Vod/life with one lens - the negative-vod-lense, or the tesla lense. You only see one thing.
it's like a horse with blinders.
i can see your point about eps there ...
but if you look at free cash flow of 2.4B around - divi is gonna only cost under 1B.
you ever thought of looking at things from a different perspective?
no?
This is why i can buy/sell a share - sometimes i pays to be open minded.
i have been out of voda for awhile but am back in from 68p.
you never thought of changing perspective bases on changing situation???
Shares dont work like that. The dividend is based on earnings and free cash flow etc not the share price, so if nothing improves then it is very unlikely that the dividend would double. Its also unlikely that the SP would double without improvements in operations.
