Yes the 2nd news headline gave the right detail
Good morning,
I am looking at putting a bit of money into this share. Could you briefly tell me what made the SP go from 95 p to where it is now in the last few months. It seems a bit drop for such a large company. The fundamentals look good at this price level.
I will research but any simple info will save me a bit of time.
Thank you.
Bad wording as the headline
If you read it actually says increase to 20 %
The UAE operator's cooperation with Vodafone is awaiting regulatory approvals in countries where the British company operates, which "include an agreement to regulate relations between the two companies, and also the possibility of increasing our stake to 20%," Dowidar said.
So a 20% increase on the shares they own. Or increasing their % by 20%, so from 16% to 36%. Don't think its the latter as doesn't that mean they have to make an offer for all the shares?
So moving from the 16% to 19%?
Wow indeed.
They obviously think VOD is a great investment at this level just like us.
DUBAI, Aug 2 (Reuters) - UAE's e& has offered to increase its stake in Vodafone by 20%, e&'s CEO Hatem Dowidar told CNBC Arabia on Wednesday. At what £1.10, now we can have some of that. !!!!
So what do you think will be the final outcome from this deal, Vodafone will receive further proceeds of €500 million, taking total net proceeds to €5.4 billion and the Consortium's ownership in Oak Holdings GmbH ("Oak Holdings") to 40%.
Will VOD get much / any of this money?
The only trouble with share buy backs, do they work now?
20 years ago share buy backs would neally always push up the SP 's but now days it doesn't seem to make any difference at all.
Just look at how many other companies are doing buy backs and most if not all the SP's haven't really moved. OK we all know the princible but it might take months to push up the SP , no I would rather have the divi and now that VOD and 3 are merging and saving costs there should be no dought about Divi's going forward. Look it's Aug and normally quite so let's look forward to Oct where the SP should be way back up.And that's what I am looking for.
Fleccy
It's all window dressing MSM taglines, the one about debt etc. In relative terms Vod is the most under valued heavy lifter. This has been mentioned numerous times in here.
The cashflow is drastically going to improve in the coming quarters as spending on spectrum won't be burdening the FCF and debt table is solid for the foreseeable future.
At these levels, with or without div this is bargain.
Alternatively, they could drop the dividend and start a share buyback program aimed at significantly reducing shares in issue; The only problem with that is it could make a takeover attempt more likely, and Directors don't like losing their jobs.
I don't see the short term share price as particularly relevant, even though Vodafone is massively undervalued, its about Vodafone maintaining the dividend going forward. Vodafone was the only one of my my holdings that didn't completely suspend the dividend during covid ,and has been a relatively reliable dividend payer, but the narrative around a further dividend cut is getting through and holding the price down. I don't see the price dropping much from here, since the super low P/E would make any further drops unlikely, but I'd like to see more balance sheet certainty confirming dividend sustainability.
I just bought some again Jed, the fact that you have really makes me question it though.
Hopefully your chaos theory coin to55 trading has improved over time..?!
Now looks such a great buy so just topped up, must see 85p again soon.
Last 5 days 78 to 72
And you think it won’t go below 70
Open your eyes man
Gap from results day filled - let's see how the sp behaves from here on. For the bullish case, we need to get up to 90 area on the weekly and break through it. That would imo activate the bullish divergence.
We got there last month
And now it’s tanking
70p is likely the very floor and major support. Happy to wait decades for the sp to raise whilst collecting a juicy 10% yield.
Any weakness below 70p would be a welcome top up opportunity, but I doubt we will get there.

Vod goes down regardless of a bear market fact
Avo come over to this side the grass is greener
Jax, ftse100is down 0.8% premarket. Doesn't take a genius to work out the likelihood of a drop.
But where are your 50s you promised us months ago.
And have you sold your shares yet?
This is on the leaderboard today and we all know deep down which one risers or fallers
Thinking about puttin £100 on lyyods shares too get thah nice divi.
Any one ells think thah wood be good ideah?
Think it goes ex dividend on the 3rd but not curtain about thaht date tbh.
GLA DYOR don't put off a ruby doo
Avocet. Sorry to dissagree with you, but market cap is not based on earnings, it is based purely on the current share price. The sp is of course based on many things, but basically on what the market thinks the shares are worth. No point having an argument with jax unless you know what you are talking about & vice versa. You say up, he says down, time to move on I think.
Jax where do you get your info from. I have just looked up vods total asset value for 2023 as being 161 billion dollars, down 9.5% from 2022. Why do you make things up, it makes you look very foolish. Of course these valuations are very complex & open to debate, but with respect you seem to be negative just for the sake of it.
