Omicron while looking more transmissable, so far seems to be low risk. Despite the increase in cases, there have thus far been no fatalities and symptoms are mild.
Hopefully the markets will settle down, until the next one of course.
You pessimist! It went over 11 today ...briefly.. Can't hold a good share down. GLA
You are Wright. I felt from last October that. As I said before by the end of the month s.p 11.00
UU. continues to do well in the current climate, only small rises but when compaired to the wider market they become significant.
Its certainly proving to be a good balancing stock in my portfolio.
Thanks.looking forward to the end of the month
From the material I have read so far, at the moment I hold these views on Omicron;
Higher infection rate.
Low impact of resulting infection.
Low impact on businesses.
Moderate to high negative impact on markets in the short term.
Low impact on the markets medium and long term.

Maybe so, its certainly strong in the current climate, and I certainly wouldn't bet against your prediction.
As I said by end of December 11.00
Well it looks like after Fridays over reaction, normal service has been resumed.
I have found a blog by Dr Andrew Page, head of informatics at the Quadram Institute in Norwich, who has written about the Omicron virus .
Its well worth a read.
Two cases of Omicron confirmed in the UK.
It was bound to happen, but my sentiment remains unchanged.
Now is not the time to sell this particular stock I suspect.
The markets may be a bit choppy next week.
1 case of Omicron (Botswana Variant) confirmed in Belgium.
Pfizer have stated they are confident that within 100 days they could have a vaccine ready for Omicron.
Early indications are Omicron would be around 4 times as contageous as the current Delta varient.
It has not however been confirmed to what degree, if any the protection offered by the current vaccine would be compromised.
I think a lot of the uncertainty regarding Covid had already been priced into the FTSE (Perhaps not in the US), and Fridays drops were a bit of an over reaction.
This does not in my opinion represent a 'Black Swan'.
If I was ever glad I have this in my portfolio, today is that day.
Markets dragging this down today, but UU> is fareing better than most.
'Botswana Variant'. Appears to have only been confirmed in Africa at the moment, but will be a few days before we know if its crossed international borders.
Well I got in at £9.7844 including taxes etc., so it makes the dividend a bit better than the quoted 3.98% for me at 4.428% of my investment.
In these very uncertain times I intend to keep taking the dividend and reinvesting it, even if it hits £11.
I nearly 1/4 of my stocks are utilities, although 2 fall into alternative energy also. I think this will serve me well should the markets turn nasty.
By end of December 11.00 and i am going to sales them
The half year report looks pretty much as expected, everything seems on track, no obvious surprises.
Underlying operating profit increased by 4%.
Interim dividend 14.5p. (Ex div on 16th December. Paid 1st Feb)
Looking forward to tomorrow. GLA
Thanks for the reply.
Yes

Do you have a link for that info please??
UU. to be allowed to charge extra £20 million under todays release as have exceeded targets. That £11 could be surpassed? GLA

It would be nice, the stock is certainly heading towards the 52 week high of £10.935, and is well up from the low of £8.518.
I think (guess) it will not exceed £10.85 this year, but thats a decent price with an above average dividend of around 4%.
