Here is one of the more obscure parts of Utilitywise. www.theiconadvantage.com
I can't imagine he is really bothered. Tiny part of his portfolio. He is almost certainly the force behind the management changes - and there is a good team there now - and he is a long term investor by nature. He will sit on his thumbs, take up any rights that come his way and wait for it to come good. And the management team - which would not have joined without his confirmed support - will have talked all this bad news through with him long before we all got to hear of it. Glad I took my own advice to wait a few weeks before buying more, but I suspect in 24 months time 60-70p will look ridiculously cheap. GLA GS
Ash, I think this will come good. Fundamentals all stack up for long term recovery. Just overdone market reaction on a low market cap share. Going to take sometime but I believe it is a sound business model and it will go up again.
If you think you are in a hole, just imagine the hole Woodford finds himself in.... and he cant average down without having to make an offer to buy the company.
At least this isn't another Quindell, or at least so i hope based on the fact that the underlying business is profitable and hasn't come about just via acquisitions. I can't offer any facts with regards to the Director buys, maybe they just don't have the cash!
I have a very large investment here at average price of £1.40. I believe the company has a good business but as happens with small companies set up by first time entrepreneurs, accounting can be a problem especially if a business has accrued income streams. The new management headed by Mr. Flattery and the CFO Mr. Laker are trying to wipe clean old accounting tangles so future numbers are more reliable. This is why the SP has fallen so much and as it happens in such situations, market reaction is overdone. However my reservation is that at these depressed price why is the management not buying the shares? Directors' share purchase is sorely needed to boost the confidence in this company.
This chat is for so everyone can talk and from the experience I have within this industry and the people I know within UTW this is a real shame for this company to be struggling like this. Why would anyone want to block my thoughts? as surely we all look for advice and to see what others peoples thoughts are. I had shares in this company and sold mine at £1.90. I hope the company turns it around but I have a feeling its not going to be a quick turn around with my experience in this company.
I am heavily invested here, I know the energy consultancy industry inside out having worked in it in the UK and specifically across Europe. I have not worked for UTW but do know many staff and leaders of the industry from other companies. EnergyExpert chose the wrong board.
EnergyExpert with his 7 posts since he noticed this on the fallers list is a shorter, just block him...
You never know who you are talking to on these boards, it might be an anonymous investor disgruntled by the share price or someone who has direct ties to the company and is interested to hear what is being said. Sometimes people foolishly put themselves in the position of adopting an online persona, so that they can then denigrate the prospects or actual financial standing of a company for financial reasons or for their own emotional gratification, negative or positive. If they truely work for the company then I'd imagine that they unnecessarily put themselves in a vulnerable position in terms of job security just to vent spleen online. Similarly if they don't then they are telling lies. It's a weird equation which often is only resolved by public exposure of said individuals and why would you **** off a standing investment? So EnergyExpert do you work in Newcastle or Redditch?
very real Moneygrabber
I'm not an ex employee at all, just someone I who work's within this company
I see someone bought 159,253 shares on Friday afternoon, they must have confidence....
I would hazard a guess EnergyExpert is an ex employee
Are you for real!
Also they lost most of their top staff and haven't replaced them. This is a Niche Market and you need to retain your best sellers in this game.
Every update they have had in pretty much the last 2 years has made no difference I'm afraid. It hasn't been the same since the big changes started at the top. I think if the Thompson's still ran the show this would be a solid business.
What needs to be turned around? The problems are related to accounting practise and has nothing to do with the business model. Yes profits and revenue will take a hit but so long as they keep sales up it should remain profitable. The reason the sp is so volatile is because it is difficult to work out the true value of the company and that will remain the case until the next update.
How can this company turn things around now? Will all investment stop? It seems like twice in the last few years they have had financial figures updates make huge negative affects on this Share price. I was tempted to invest but i can't see them pulling it around due to a series off bad mishaps in management and accounting issues with suppliers.
Southern Cross were a care home buisness from the NE that eventually went tits up despite the CEO Jammie Buchan telling everyone evrything was OK.....basically we were duped and mugged of our holding, in my case £50K. He is the one guy I would like to meet down a dark alley!
I think if you keep a sense of proportion and actually look at the facts it isn't difficult to see bar any further cock ups that the sell off is overdone...but I understand many want it to fall further!
Beevorma.....be careful with that, I thought the same when Southern Cross kept falling, I ended up losing over £50K when they went bust!! I still get a bad feel about this and expect it could go the same way.
falling knives no way to value this share right now, total blind punt if buying
You've got to go back to about this time in 2012 to buy the shares at today's prices!!. Oversold or what!
It would be even better if the directors made some significant investment in the company if they think the company is worth investing in at these prices.
