The following article helps to clarify the potential downside. Even in the unlikely event that Labour won, I doubt it would be an easy or an quick task to re nationalise these industries. www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/may/20/labour-renationalisation-rail-water-energy-cost-benefits. A stroll through the numerous UTW twitter accounts, points to a very happy and well managed work place at the moment and does not suggest a company in crisis even though the share price does.
But if Tories win as expected, you'll have to buy back at a much higher price. Whatever happens, UTW still has its energy-saving arm and can presumably move into other areas.
Lets hope that does not happen !! This isn't the only share that will get smashed up,the market could and probably will lose forty to fifty percent of its value overnight !! I will be cutting a lot of my holdings over the next week and would advise everyone to do the same, the big boys started a couple of weeks ago !!
Has anyone considered what might happen to this share if Labour wins the election and Corbyn makes good on his promise to re-nationalise the Utilities? Would this effectively kill this company and put a lot of shareholders, pension funds and Neil Woodford out of pocket? Not to mention the human cost of the mass redundancies that would arise too. I have significant investment here, as well as holding a couple of utilities which will also be subject to shareholder bashing. Thoughts?
A very big one yesterday afternoon also, will be interesting to see if the rise continues tomorrow
Some big buys today. Assuming they are genuine buys!
A better day on the SP so far, let's hope it kicks on from here.

No one seems to mention their growth plans to take their money saving ideas global. Clearly this is a service that has appeal. I appreciate any business could phone around to investigate cheaper energy prices however we could all do the same rather than contribute to the profits of money supermarket etc with our vehicles and homes. There's a convenience and in business time is money. So therefore this has expansion potential if the quality is there. But price is low in my opinion and divi alone is appealing even if business remained constant
See below from the april 4th statement, they provide more than just switching advice.... The second paragraph regarding cash advances could be at root of the low SP here. This kind of accounting change can wreak havoc but also can provide a good opportunity for the strong stomached!. Remember Buffet...' be greedy when others are being fearful...' 'There continues to be an increasing opportunity for us on both sides of the meter - from providing independent advice on tariffs and helping customers get a better deal on their energy procurement, to providing technology that helps them monitor and reduce energy consumption as well as ensuring compliance and saving money. In order to further strengthen the Group's commercial prospects, the Board has taken the strategic decision to discontinue the practice of taking cash advances from suppliers, as well as increasing the transparency of the balance sheet through a number of prior period restatements and the non-cash impairment of our investment in t-Mac. The decision to discontinue cash advances from suppliers and the prior period adjustments will have a one-off impact on net debt but puts the Group in a stronger position to achieve its future growth ambitions.'
Maybe its just the business. Is there really big money in 'helping businesses change energy supplier'? Surely they can simply do that themselves without UTW's help or am I missing something?
Need the patience of a saint!!!
Ha ha yes that'll be cos i bought a few this afternoon! ;). Just like Public Enemy (No 1) we can ask:- ' UTW... how low can you go?!'
It's strange. Great pe. Cash generative. Soon to be debt free. Issue with the change in accounting and rumours of staff turnover hampering price but Woodford has included in new fund which is a positive sign. Iv used price as a top up. As usually happens price will rise as we near next update and hopefully will shoot up when everyone realises it's undervalued. We just need to be patient..:. Fingers crossed!!!
Every time I think it can't fall any further. .. What the hell is going on with this one?
Ready for the buying up to next quarters figures all the a*****ists think this is oversold!!! Apparently water targets are being broken now so figures should be better???. Let's hope the Dell tie up is fruitful this quarter???. My target 170 by August.. plus ex divi yesterday as well..yielding well over five percent at these valuations a stinking buy if your brave!!. GLA
Any ideas why the share price is completely flat today, neither up or down?
This share is a buy. A long term keep and enjoy the dividend till capital growth occurs
I read this on the UTW twitter feed "500 businesses have switched their water supplier with Utilitywise already." Is anyone else surprised that that figure is so low ? I would have thought that with 40k existing customers and heavy promotion , that this figure would be much much higher.
For my money we are in a buying zone. I hold a few and am starting to add more so imo selling now would be a mistake. UTW has a new management team with pedigree which has had enough time to begin to make a difference. It has a solid major shareholder in Woodford. And reviews from customers are always biased in favour of the complainers. The company has ambitious targets and will be reporting against KPI's that reflect those so I would suggest it might make sense to wait for the next update which ought to happen in the next 8-10 weeks. More likely to go up a lot than down a lot I think. But each to their own. GLA GS
I am in the same boat. Can't see any improvement in business. Have a bad feeling. Maybe the share price is reachng the correct level.. There are very mixed reviews by customers. T
Can't understand this share price, seriously thinking about selling but don't want to take a loss.
Not that I'm complaining but no news or releases??
Ha, a little out of my league unfortunately.
