How do you multi bag Unilever at the sp it’s at!…
I'm in for a few with the last of this year's divis. Not going to be a multi bagger any time soon, but feels like a good price to come in at, with steady divis and an intention to hold for 10 years+
i think mr jope is right people have very short memories i would wager that this is all forgotten in 12- 18 months investing is a game of opportunities this is one. DO YOU FEEL LUCKY PUNK ???
I cannot see a bid coming in for ULVR, with a market cap over 86 billion any company would need to be both very big & very confident, not in this day & age sadly. What I can see is a breakup being proposed by the main investors who have clout, IMO this would benefit all share holders.
A major problem to bear in mind is this awful war. Mr Jope is continuing to refuse to stop doing business in Russia & this will harm ULVR eventually, no doubt about it. If there is a change of mind the SP here will reduce considerably.
Still a good stock to hold long term sp is a good buy. Don’t be surprised if there is a raid on Unilever from either the states or Japan.
But they used to be a good hold 1200 to 1750 wondering whether 2400 is a bit high but taking into account inflation about right
Now, Ukraine pressure ULVR to write off their Russian investments, why aren't such non-Russian investors offered compensation from confiscated West located Russian assets, eg from c $300m in Swizz banks, c $300m Foreign currency reserves, etc... Cut this waffle, the West, and I'd put up £10k, need to hire anti-Putin Russian mercenaries to kill Putin, and do it quickly. 'Thou shalt not kill' doesn't apply during war and this war.
Paul2566,
And to add insult to injury (re your 2 posts below):-
"RBC cuts Unilever price target to 3,200 (3,600) pence - 'sector perform'."
ATB, Mike.
I'm now only holding this to use as a write off against any CGT I may incurr this tax year.
I is very disappointing to say the least, shame the SP performance isn't on par with his performance, because it certainly dosen't seem to apply in reverse.
@Vbig I’m waiting personally. As opposed to ULVR, I may go for a supermarket stock like TSCO or SBRY which may be even more recession proof than ULVR because of their ‘value’ products.
Or I may go for a mix of the two.
Unilever are a defensive share. I would not be at all surprised if a large American company or private equity tried a takeover.
I was thinking of buying in this morning but decided to wait a bit. I can't quite work out whether Unilever will be recession resistant or not. In a recession consumers might move to cheaper brands and ditch Unilever's. Or maybe people struggling don't buy Unilever products now anyway.
I do think at this price it'll be completely safe in the medium term but better opportunities might come along in the short term. I'm feeling very indecisive.
Also I think got plenty of business in Russia
If you think there’s a recession coming and I do to then wait, this share is great to own wants equities drop because of the recession. Cash is king at the moment bar gold!!
I've held ULVR since Feb 2020, so quite a recent purchase. Into them for about £13k.
I without doubt bought at the wrong time as even with dividends I'm showing a paper loss of 17%.
I like the idea of ULVR, but the reality is its been my worst performer over that time period.
I think anyone getting in around £33 should be relatively safe, but then I didn't really expect to see this below £34.
I wouldnt say dont buy, but I would suggest you aim to lock your investment in for 3 to 5 years as an absolute minimum.
The 52 week range is £43.88 to £32.67.
Hello all. First time posting here.
Having seen the current geopolitical situation, as well as the current state of the global economy as a whole (ridiculous inflation, potential substantial increase in interest rates etc), I have a small feeling that we may be headed towards a recession.
I think the inflation and the increase in gas/electric prices will be the cause of the problem. When you have people struggling to get their children to school and go to work due to the high price of fuel, then that’s the very basis of economic decline. Combine that with the fact that people were struggling to make ends meet prior to all this as well.
Hence, I’m thinking of taking out a position in Unilever. FMCG has proven time and time again to withstand the effects of a recession, and no matter what occurs people will always require the kind of thing that Unilever have in their portfolio.
Without having done proper research yet, it looks like the CEO is holding the company back quite a bit.
Would like to hear some opinions as to whether you believe that ULVR could soon experience a hostile takeover or an investor insurgence of some sort to oust the CEO and the BoD?
Should be put in jail. Bent. As is the rest of the board and largest shareholders who backed this
Jobs for the boys, NO money for the boys what a bent system.
Absolutely ridiculous.
This guy should be sacked long ago or take no pay at all. What's his contribution to the company?
How can a 42% pay increase be justified for this joker? This is an insult to shareholders who have endured a 5 year low SP.
Does anyone know how much revenue % comes from RU?
used too get a bit of growth and a dividend, now we get a reduction and a dividend less than inflation.
sold its crown jewels and trying to appease the woke brigade. Effing brilliant.
Hi 'spoons.
I believe that the reason this blue chip has done so badly on a 5 year basis is because the majority of the board don't know what they are doing and need replacing. Specifically the CEO & F f'king D (spineless #!#!). That's Jope & Pitkethly for the avoidance of doubt. Grr.
Just had a look at the company website home page. If you go there expecting brand promotion or statements regarding plans in place to improve profitability, forget it, they seem far more interested in wok symbolism. IMO this company is badly in need if a hostile takeover since the current BoD appear to be greatly distracted from their legal obligation to improve shareholder value.
Anyone have any idea why this blue chip share has done so badly on a 5 year basis. Its quite clear the majority of the board don't know what they are doing and need replacing.
