In here today for the first time in a fairly small way following another property purchase. Not expecting this to be a long term holding - but you never know.

Just looking for value amongst the large caps. Also Added TW. a couple of weeks ago, but struggling to find something worthy of serious cash.

I've done the same Fanboy. Just got to stop myself adding again when we get paid. I've mentioned before how heavy i'm in here.

Also bought in here for the first time this morning needing to diversify my portfolio somewhat.

Not a huge stake - spending the dividends I've received on some of my insurers in recent weeks.

I believe the dividend is unsustainable as I have no understanding of LGEN, contracts for insurance or IFRS 17. So I'll blindly keep spouting my crap in the hope of influencing the equally clueless.

Trotsky - ISA would be best, but adding 2x £20K annually is a slow process.

I still work, so adding bits all the time, coupled with occasional property sales means I'll never have everything in a tax wrapper. But we do the best we can.

BTW. my average is more like £2.50 - weighed down by a large purchase in Jan 2022 - just before UKR - Russia war. Amazing just how many people seem to have bought all their shares at the lowest point since covid.

100% profit less CGT = 76% profit.

= £15,200 on £20K. £4,800 to go on CGT :(

If you have an average of £2 then your personal yield could be described as being 11%.

= less than 7 years - even assuming no increases to dividend payments.

So many short term profit hunters.

Give me my compounded 8% in perpetuity any day.

I get it for those that are buying now in the hope of a payday & hoping to rinse & repeat. But it's no good for long term holders.

Montecristo - Yes i could. IF we got £4 for LGEN & I invested the lot in SDLF i'd be about 10% better off dividend wise.

However, close to 10% of my current portfolio is currently SDLF, which would make 70%. Same goes for MNG. - but increase would be closer to 5%.

I'm not exactly comfortable with 60% in LGEN. Would not be happy with anything close to that in SDLF or MNG. Happier with Aviva, but dividend lower again - would be making similar income to what I am now. INVP is my other financial - but not adding serious cash there.

I can see a few more dissenting comments today than there were yesterday. Hopefully this will blow over & we can keep collecting our dividends.

as i've said several times before - this is by far my largest holding. i've added more since last time i wrote & lgen is now 60% of my portfolio.

i'm here for the dividend only, while the sp is of little interest to me. to maintain my dividend income at even it current level i'd need the take over price to be £4 plus - by the time i've paid cgt (3/4 of my holding is not in a wrapper), then almost inevitably getting a lower dividend from a less reliable company.

even worse - end up with shares in some foreign **** that doesn't pay a dividend.

Personally could do with another bomb under the FTSE. I missed out on the March lows due to being on holiday. I don't trust hotel wi-fi enough to be typing my log-in details to my trading accounts.

But the cash cost of the dividend is falling every year that the buyback is more than the dividend.

Rather than declare the percentage increase in dividend each year it would be more transpzrent to declare the change in the dividend pot.

9% is too good to miss.

I just wish they'd stay at this level forever.

Really these are a keep forever share for me. The dividends will be the largest part of my retirement income.

So, while I'm at 51%, which was never my intention as long i I don't need to sell it reduces the risk somewhat.

Yes, I was happy to by at 270-280p 5 years ago when the dividend was 20% less than it is now, so should be content to keep adding.

I my other financials holdings have shown circa 50% increases since i added them. (MNG almost doubled), so I'm reluctant to add at the levels they stand at now. My yields all stand at over 10% (Dividend/cost price) except LGEN.

I'll just continue to sell enough to use my CGT allowance each year & Mrs Nelly will buy them back in her ISA.
