Boris Day and his looming No deal Brexit I suppose and also because it's just a naff stock. Thought any political ruminations would have been baked into the price by now, but no. Believe it's still a least a 2.40-2.50 stock but, heh, might be £2.06 before end of day for all I know.
Anyone know why the SP is falling?
One of my charities, Andy's Man Clubs, pay no salaries. Everything is done by volunteers. Still, let's not let fact get in the way of prejudice. With regards to cures, agreed, the pharmaceutical industry was to control symptoms rather than cure. Macmillan Nurses deals with people, those affected by cancer. It isn't in the cure game.
If you don't try, you can't succeed. It turns out that the death sentence that was HIV / AIDS is now controllable. There are two effective vaccines for the Ebola virus. Even Viagra has its place.
However, if you, or your family, happen to be the one needing help then a soap box is a lonely place to be.
I assume that you are not aware that society (rather than the state) helping society is a tenet of Conservatism. Also, Tesco, top up all colleague contributions to the Charity Partnership by 20%. Given that colleagues raised £25+ million over the last three years for Cancer Research, Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation I will leave you to calculate how much Tesco contributed. I also assume you and your families will turn down the advances made by the research carried by these organisations. Your posts make sad reading.
The problem with Tesco claiming they are doing things for charity is that it is that employees and the shoppers are making the contributions and Tesco are taking the plaudits,
Life happens. I hope you and your family continue to live without needing help.
Tesco has many faults. The one thing they have got pretty much right is charity fund raising. They do go a bundle on that. There is one particular activity that raises a huge chunk of money for the Charity Partnership. For me, I am 65 so will be walking 65 miles. 14 miles for Jock's Road, 25 miles Dundee Kilt Walk in aid of Andy's Man Club ( https://dundeekiltwalk2019.everydayhero.com/uk/i-must-be-mad-to-do-this-4 ) and 26 miles in aid of Macmillan Nurses ( https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/i-must-be-mad-to-do-this-3 ). If you do have a few pennies to spare, any sponsorship would be appreciated.
in italy it is all seasonal except bananas. even the co op sources locally where possible and markets sell local produce.
This is another share lagging behind current FTSE
Dave Lewis told the BBC that the new deadline of the end of October meant there would be "less capacity" for stockpiling longer-life items.
A no-deal Brexit could mean tariffs and delays at the border that interrupt supplies of some food, he said.
But Mr Lewis said leaving the EU could also provide opportunities for the UK.
Mr Lewis said the supermarket chain had bought extra stock of long-life items in preparation for 29 March - when the UK was initially expected to leave the EU - but said it would be harder to make similar preparations this time round.
"We'll do whatever is practical depending on how things develop between now and then.
"But the challenge will always be those things which are shorter life - fresh produce. That's what the UK imports quite a lot of,"
Thank you BorisandDoris , I am now pleased I took the dividend instead of shares.
Hi CEREUS, the share price you asked about is £2.3761, regards, Colin.
What was the dividend reinvestment price this time round ?
I have seen drastics email, all a bit subdued. Share price will be whacked today. Overall sales up a yawning 0.4% central europe down 7.9%. Booker again keeping Tesco figures afloat with sales up 4.2% this is already down 3p from a dismal 2.27 close, i think it even opened at 2.20. Retail is horrific and looks like i'm stuck in this until way after someone sorts out the Brexit debacle. Batten down the hatches.
Good news on results ,and a strong start to the financial year , that should make the share price collapse today !
TOP NEWS: Tesco Pleased With First-Quarter Performance As Sales Rise
(Alliance News) - Supermarket chain Tesco PLC on Thursday reported a "strong start" to its financial year, with softness in Central Europe offset by stronger showings from Asian op

Im expecting a good set of prelim results tomorrow - Tesco is def undervalued at this price IMO. I dont think markets fully priced in the fundamental changes to the business. Fingers crossed.
Dose anyone know if we're getting the same pay increase as last year i.e. the split uplift, being approx.1.5% x2?
Apologies if I've missed this discussion in earlier posts.
Tesco without doubt the finest supermarket in the country.
Rather a sweeping statement. They are not as good as Waitrose nor some independent ones particularly in the Lake District.
And nowhere near as good as the Italian Co-op
Why is the SP falling in simple terms. Have a look at other blue chips where the same thing is happening. I am certain the reason is Brexit uncertainty
Oh stop talking of Lobster WGR - now I'm going to have to dream of getting on board my private jet and flying to the East coast of North America for a decent Lobster. Why did they have to retire Concorde? However, with a decent private jet Mach 1.8 cruising can still be achieved. Hence with the time difference I can set off at 1pm - eat my lunch on the East of Vermont at 12:30pm. And then be back in the UK in good time for bed at 10pm.
Cereus you really shouldn't worry about burning fossil fuels. Don't you know that plants convert carbon dioxide back into oxygen? Hence really every time you take a flight or drive a Ferrari you are making all the plants in the world a little happier as you are making it a little easier for them to live and to grow.
Don't take things so seriously cereus!
I was just pointing out that you got a cheap price given the costs involved in producing those potatoes and making them available to you. And I hope you enjoyed them. Very happy that you got a good price!
I agree WGR that there seems far too little farming going on in the UK. France seems much more active in terms of food production - ergo it is no surprise the food seems better quality (and no more expensive) in France.
