“According to trend forecasting agency Globetrender** our demographic is more risk tolerant, highly adventurous and value driven” says Safestay’s COO, Nuno Sacramento. “We want to show our young travellers that we are doing everything possible to protect their safety, but that they can also have fantastic travel experiences too. We have curated hyper-local itineraries for each of our hostels as they open to highlight the best activities on the doorstep. So it might not be a museum but it will be the best place to get a takeaway pizza and eat in the nearby square or park!”
Holiday bookings 'explode' as travel restrictions ease

Safestay’s hostels in London and Edinburgh will open from 17 July with safety measures including contact-free check-in; screens in reception areas; packs with masks, hand sanitiser and gloves handed out on arrival; new cleaning protocols and dorms restricted to the same group of travellers.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s also the bottom end of the market at £20 per room per night, you can’t find better value. Those places in central areas will do well also imo
It was said to be undervalued before the Coronavirus pandemic when the SP sat in the high 30's
Young people today aren't as scared as the older generations in taking risks & that should bode well for SSTY. As long as folk have money they'll be itching to travel again a.s.a.p
Fingers crossed.
Small snippet from Paul Hill 58m in Ssty trading at 0.4 NAV

Mcap of 11.32M - expect a RNS about phased reopening European Hostels soon, then a gradual rise back to about 25-30p
Business as usual in Poland
Absolute bargain at this level
Elephant & Castle hostel was revalued following the 73 bed extension at GBP26.8 million, an increase of GBP10.8 million over the last valuation in 2017, which equates to a NAV increase of 16.7p per share
Strange nearly 14p buy not shown on the chart
this will probably go lower in short term.
Hostelworld have just announced an update relating to Covid 19 and are 10% down, whereas this is 10% up.
Doesn't make sense IMHO.
If things can get sorted in Europe by say end of June anything under 10p looks a decent entry price
SSTY are the only AIM share I've been adding over the last few days.
I purchased leisure section shares last week like Cineworld at 24.25p & sold most of them the next day at 72p & then i invested the profits into PRU, BP, Marstons & TUI.
the only short term positive is that the big discounts offered when booking are non refundable so not all cancellations will impact cashflow.
Clearly this will go lower short term but it will recover IMHO - still a decent company
These are being wiped down today but not yet wiped out. Hard to see confidence restored in the short-term. I would not be able to sleep well at night in someone else's bed if I bought these in the short-term. I will be surprised if this beds down at 16p given there is imo a lot not said in the RNS. I expect the impact of COV19 to be material and only worsening in the short-term.
today's trading statement is not unexpected. Next month or so could be painful if rest of Europe follows Italy's approach
SSTY down 10% on 1,000 pounds of volume!
SSTY is massively impacted by corona - travel will be the first thing to stop.
Even if you can travel countries like Italy and France are closing tourist attractions so what's the point going somewhere if you can't do much.
Shared rooms is also a big concern.
Hopefully this will blow over soon but until then best to sit and wait.
Corona is having an impact only question is how much. Incidentally as a flu it is a winter virus so hopefully should be less of an issue in the warmer months
I don't think young travellers will be that bothered about a virus that only seems to take the lives of weaker, more vulnerable people. Sentiment will change If tens/ hundreds of thousands die in a global pandemic !
I'll be adding below 30p & if travel remains largely unaffected TUI looks cheapish at around or below 700p.
I just think SSTY need to get ahead of the curve and show they are taking it very seriously and state that all rooms are disinfected twice a day, put hand sanitizer everywhere, state that all guests must close their bunk curtain thingy, etc, etc
10%+ drop looked severe, thought a mass realization that no one will want to share a room with a bunch of strangers with a virus knocking around or something; but total volume for the day was only something like 37,000 GBP.
Would you stop a Europe backpacking trip this summer due to Covid-19? Maybe, probably not.
Would you stop staying in hostels if you did take the trip? I don't think so, if you're doing touristy things you're going to be around people non stop anyway: sites, restaurants, bars, clubs.
Once the coronavirus has ebbed away this will be a bargain if trading below today's price.
This is a solid business, good growth that will continue, more acquisitions to come, fundamentals are excellent and a MCAP of only 25m
Very very undervalued
I’m holding for 60p +
Good RNS this morning showing increased room occupancy and higher bed prices. 2020 looks to be promising with the new acquisitions contributing. The company has renegotiated its loan and will presumably continue to make acquisitions. And all this at a price will below its 2019 high - worth buying in my view.
I really like this share. What i like is the simplicity of the investment case. Definitely on my watchlist and will be waiting for a good entry point. Undervalued certainly but presumably there must be a placing not too far off. Would not expect a substantial discount but discount nevertheless.
