Do the labour plans for the trains affect serco ?

No - Good steady as she goes. And what fantastic future visibility of income.
Nothing to worry about here!

Was the info about takeover official? I think not
Company would not want to comment on every rumour or fake leak.

It’s quite surprising that they have not commented.
Disappointingly Nothing in the papers/media about serco takeover approach at the weekend. Hopefully an RNS from serco to confirm what happened last year with the approach in the morning....
Surprised we ended down on the day after a takeover approach last year even if not active. Surely the talks were on a price north of £2
At least it puts a spotlight on the dismal under valuation of this company !
If you look at the balance of trades, one side think the buy out is going to happen while the other side (the sells) think it won't, with a slight edge towards the sells. Strange that neither Serco or the bidder wanted to comment and also that Serco never issued an RNS when they were approached. But then again I'm not sure how these things all work

Huge after hours buys and incredible volume mayhem again - even larger than yesterday
Last post: Repression, 26 Jan 2024 16:49
Left the rest of my holding as it was & hope that's there's no nasty surprises over the weekend or Monday morning.
I got partially stopped out, but still got the majority of my stake left which I'm going to have to decide what to do with come close of play. I wonder how the shorter comes into play with all of this?
Days move down square root of zero. So nobody has a clue. It sure cost some people some money
Yes in principle, but would depend how confidential.

I was wondering whether they could veto it?
Might indicate government unhappy as sort of secret work. Takeover premium then removed

Broker upgrades to follow in the next few days surely ?
Serco has been punished this year for no reason. Hopefully this is the news we needed to get it back to at least £2
Should be a decent rise this morning.

In the ever increasing manner in which the micro management of the global population is creeping in, then unfortunately, this company is going to do just fine.
You seriously have to wonder why the SP is so low, everywhere you look you see serco logo's, no to mention the prisons and illegal migrant accommodation and NHS contracts.
Sold out after holding for a year. Momentum is now negative. Made a loss of 4% so not too much damage done.

Great if UK Gov funded the making of a few new prisons.
Funding supports the construction sector.
Makes jobs for security services.
I would be happy if the tax we already paid funded safer UK streets.

When was this Hamm ... I can only see the ones by Rupert as exiting CEO sold in November, which were not a surprise.
Pretty sure the incoming CEO will now purchase over time in line with minimum holding requirements, if not already met in previous roles in Serco.
Amazing that the bods have sold half of their shares!
Basically a good update saying this year and next year are likely to be ahead of previous guidance. The kind of news release which would normally see the share price rise. But today it goes down!
Closed period trading update; 2022 slightly ahead of previous guidance, 2023 expected to be in-line with consensus.

Can not understand the fairly sudden drop in share price. It has been holding up (understandably) quite well this year - then down on no news.
Are they affected by strikes at all?
down 6p today. Why?

Yep, did seem a bit OT, but there again I rarely understand share price movements.
Up 4% today relative to the FTSE.
He's not going for 12 months - it looks like it will be a smooth, well planned hand over, so do not understand the drop today.
Shares in Serco Group (LSE:SRP) PLC slipped 6% following news that chief executive, Rupert Soams, was to step down.
Russ Mould, investment director at AJ Bell said ““Serco shareholders were disappointed that Rupert Soames is to retire as chief executive next year, which will conclude nine years with the company.”
Mould said “Soames is widely credited as reviving Serco’s fortunes.”
“He restored the outsourcing group’s credibility after the electronic tagging scandal where Serco took responsibility for three offences of fraud and two of false accounting between 2010 and 2013.”
Mould said now “the business has returned to notably better health.”
“Its reputation has improved, debt is forecast to come down and profit is expected to go up, which means Soames can exit knowing he has made a difference.”
Peel Hunt analyst Christopher Bamberry said Soames was “highly regarded.”
But they added his successor, Mark Irwin, was “well known to analysts, having been a regular presenter at results presentations.”

I am in here based on good positive momentum. Momentum stocks have suffered recently but hopefully this is only temporary.
this has got a lot of ground to catch up, and with these sort of results its got 300p wrote all over it, hopefully sooner rather than later, but i can wait ...............
About time too, have been expecting a strong update despite loss of Covid related revenues, hopefully we can get on and revalue and find a new higher trading range now !
Nice work Rupert,
Onwards & upwards !
Very nice RNS. SP rerating. All signs looking positive. Excellent company. Long term hold.

Now is the time to invest in Capita.
Price is down 50% in 3 months.
They published revenue and back in profit, they have paid down a lot of debt.
Also Capita have high retention rate of contracts and have shown stable and growing revenue.
Get capita now in the low 20's while you can, looks like a rerate is coming to send it back to the 30's
No thx think I’ll stick with my holding here a lot off rising government work inflation proofing very high barriers off entry for they type off work they specialise in. Confident off growing margin only have 1percent off global market lots off growth here and no worries about debt with rising interest rates. There also looking at increasing dividend which will still be covered 3 times and possible buybacks. So yea hold on and wait results 24th feb .
Message for all current Serco and ex Serco investors. Don't waste your time with Serco and invest instead in Capita Plc. The share price has recently hit its second lowest bottom last Friday after hitting the low 20s during the beginning of the first lockdown in 2020. Capita despite what the old rumours of being aka Crapita, it has managed to pay off almost all their debt through the disposal of no longer needed business brands that helped them grab back over £700 millions which have been used to manoeuvre the business forward as it moves to start growing organically into the new year 2022. There will be a full year financial release update for March of this year. The Capita share are currently changing hands for just under 33p. If you sell your Serco shares, you can buy 4 Capita shares for 1 Serco share price.
You can easily expect Capita to reach for near 50p in the very near term. While, for the short term, you can expect close to 65p and long term close to plus 80p. This is an excellent opportunity to get into Capita before the shares return back back up to plus 40p as it climb towards to 50p and more as we get close to the Full year earnings March financial report. Get in early b4 you miss your chance. Best of luck. NoFear.(*__*).

Agree. It’s an unloved company. It’s cheap. It’s making money. It has good management. Could it be a takeover target? Look at Centrica. A similarly unloved company. Sentiment changed and it’s motoring to 80p.
I make no apologies for the fact that I have posted same on ADVFN. Sic:-
Since 2017 Serco profits are ahead by 1400%
Meanwhile, since 2017 the price share price has only advanced by 12.5%
(the median share price for 2017 was £1.20).
Conundrum.
Well, I am going to stick with this one. The management team are well respected. I do not know what more they can do, apart from growing profits/EPS and turnover; which, of course, they have done.
The next results are set to be good too.
It has been my habit to arrive early in situations like this and to wait. This kind of thing gets sorted out in the end.. Patience patience.

Is there anybody out there?...To quote PF
Two £6m buys showing this afternoon!
papucel - well may you ask; not a peep here since your post but the sp has been moving up nicely in recent days.
no volatility just steady progress. patience pays off.

This board seems to be totally lifeless - probably explains the share price fall today despite some of the best results I've seen out there this year.
0.8p is perfect for me. in higher tax band so less is better
Fantastic results but 0.8p dividend? could have opened the taps more to get this share price moving...
bought 15k
a±+++++ results and its down. totally unbelieveable.

surprised no one on board here... RR is buzzing!
Wow. Hold no shares - wish I did - but exceptional results!
Consistent profits of 15% or more in the past 2 yrs or more= SRP...this is it ...
