Bozi, I think you've contradicted your previous point. So are BHP just playing games with their interest in SOLG?? Will they continue to play games like your Noront example and bid SOLG higher if a low ball drops? Why haven't they sold out if not interested? They could have sold to the chinese?? Blackrock exited a 5.5% holding over a few months mind you... but exiting a 10% position quite doable and no shortage of takers for that stock.
So what are BHP waiting for then? Perhaps they are waiting to see what low ball lands and then counter it? Perhaps they are planning to do another Wyloo / Noront and make sure the buyer pays top whack?? That's why the Noront example is very relevant in many ways. You best let Orphencopper know.
Need-a -rife. You working velly hard for your Chinese boss,.
All of this deramping talk from a few overstretched inexperienced fools. You should use your energy looking what's happening to your dwindling investments.
No amount of attempted character assassination from quady or addikt, changes the fundamentals.
Solg is, has been, and will be for the foreseeable future up sh**t creek.
No matter how many lists of positives, no matter how many false accusations, no matter how many posters are banned by the hysterical few, no matter how many un researched posts smickster and his like post, no matter how many times you print the Chinese are coming, no matter how many dittys pad posts, no matter how many one liners the manchild posts no matter how many people copperpot tries to cancel. it alters nothing.
facts, always interfere with clowns opinions
" If the SOLG SP doubles from here then it becomes a possibility, but that seems a mile off at the moment. "
Hit the nail on the head. It's all about suppressing the market price for when the baseline offer comes in. The difference between an SP of 16p vs 25p is huge.
SC - I think we've got to be a broad church and accept all views.
We all want to feel cosy about the upside on a change of control transaction but I don't think you can blame people who are miffed that the company has taken in over $80m and plans to make it last just over a year whilst doing the square root of FA in terms of exploring.
Lets have it right, for a junior explorer that's a shambolic state of affairs. It's economic management that should give you nightmares.
But you seem OK with it. At least you will be as long as the other side of the bargain is delivered. Will be interesting to see you shift if no offers do materialise.
Fort - Wyloo were the cornerstone investor at Noront. They had roughly 30% of the stock. They offered a small premium which I'm sure you yourself will acknowledge was pitiful compared with where Noront had been priced in the 12-18 months prior.
It was then that BHP upped the stakes and added c.70% onto the Wyloo offer. If they had genuine intentions why not come in lower, say 35-40c? They pushed Wyloo twice to make a proper offer for the company, which they eventually did at 110c.
Lets ask ourselves what significant a company with a smallish asset had to someone like BHP? Is it not just as conceivable that BHP wanted to push Wyloo into a transaction before then making their play for Oz Minerals, maybe as so not to get stuck in a fight there? I have no insight into the deal but I think both scenarios are very much possible.
You could look at it another way. Why did Rio make a paltry offer for Turquoise Hill? Again, they were in the box seat and thought they'd bully shareholders for the rest. Unfortunately for them TH holders and management stood firm.
The bottom line here is that SOLG management is going to have to make a concession because a BHP or a Jiangxi is not making a 50p offer off the bat, not in the near future anyway. If the SOLG SP doubles from here then it becomes a possibility, but that seems a mile off at the moment. Before then we've got yet another election because a right of centre government has been admonished by its people and yet again the door is open for those who oppose mining. A positive result in August won't cause more than a tremor to the dial.
I'd sincerely hope nobody is buying or selling on my view Red. I've also never toggled with the opinion menu.
However, with regards the following comment,
"But they arent thinking through that those dismal posts are probably deterring new buyers and even causing existing holders to contemplate selling..."
Do you not think that excessively talking the upside can tempt people to buy more? What happens if something then goes wrong and that growth never materialises?
It's a double edged sword. I've always been open and said that I've lowered my expectations because I want to feel content with the end game here rather than shoot for the moon and then be angry if we only make it half way there.
Redknight,
The bashers are struggling now... even Orpherncopper dismissed the Noront resources reference embarrassing himself. Let's assume that BHP were indeed just playing with Twiggy and wanted Wyloo to pay top buck. So they bid twice on an asset they didn't want is the Orpherncopper/Bozi line of thought just to be spiteful to Wyloo?? Mmm. Well... I'm surprised why they can't apply the same to SOLG then? If a low ball is landed at 25p or 30p, then why wouldn't BHP just go on another little spiteful bid war to see the buyers pay top whack?? Of course... there is always the reality that there is no spite involved at all and BHP wanted Noront like they want SOLG. Until the first bid lands we won't know but I am certainly of the view that even if BHP don't want it anymore.... they'll make whoever is buying pay top buck. Why wouldn't they? They won't roll over and see it gifted away. Nor will Newmont for that matter. Nor will Mather or Tenstar at et al. The CGP boys just have to land a first bid and the rest will spiral. Unless of course it's a cracker from the get go at 75p+.
Anyone got full access to this mining journal ?

If you dont think a low bid would start a bidding war frog, you are surely not taking account of the sheer scale of the Alpala prospect in terms of its strategic value to the world...
I cited RIOs dogged determination with Oyu Tolguei yesterday and the Voiseys Bay example is also relevant, let alone the smaller Noront project.
But ask yourself why BHP still have 10%, NCM kept theirs, Jiangxi bought an initial stake through Valuestone, dramatically increased it last October and have continued to build and finally why Mitsui publicly declared they wanted a piece of Cascabel...
And why CGP have thrown their lot in at c$4.10 a share equivalent having aggressively repudiated Nick's 2 previous bids, citing share values of $12.50 and even $20.... Clearly they see even more value here...
I say again that because of continuing disapointment/frustration people are airing those views through increasingly dismal predictions of the final takeout price for SOLG.
But they arent thinking through that those dismal posts are probably deterring new buyers and even causing existing holders to contemplate selling...
And guess who will be on the other side buying...?
So I predict that this will kick off either with a starter from Jangxi at 40/50p or with Newmont selling the NCM stake well above the current price.
I dont do blind optimism but I have learned a very long time ago that mining prospects take much longer than expected to come to fruition. It enabled me to buy ATYM at rock bottom and make a lot of money. We're already massively into profit from previous double bubbles in SOLG and I expect to make even more money when this comes to its final curtain....

The bashers are good news... I know the green lines are tedious but when they disappear or don't look bothered, that's when it's time to worry! Bashers only post all day for one reason... and that's pretty obvious as Kat2008 says.
The more they post the more obvious it becomes. Agendas are easy to spot.
We've ticked off mine licence 25years with Ecuador gov. That's important for a buyer or partner.
We've ticked off the exploitation agreement cited for end of the year so 6 months early. Mmm. Another very important milestone sorted and ahead of guidance.
Someones in a rush I feel. I think we'll find out sooner than many think.
Everything looks very good right now. All the things we needed or wanted are now in place. Maxit's job should be very straight forward and with over 11 months since SR announced, interested parties have plenty of due diligence under their belts already.
What's not to like.... it's all coming together nicely.
I'm really not sure what you mean. I can't have admitted to being anyone else- this is my first account. Perhaps I agreed with a random accusation sarcastically in the early days- I don't recall that though. On first joining I didn't realize the scale of other people getting banned, so didn't know that some posters return.
It's just me, add. And if I call you sweetheart or poppet, I'm afraid it doesn't make you special. We do that quite a lot round here.
Anyway, conspiracy theories abound today. A 2% drop on the share price (just noice) has got Kat claiming there is a strategy at play, involving posters on this BB! Might need to apply Occam's razor to cut through that hedge of stupid 🤣
HaHaHa.
I have 5 upticks for my post, and .....
Within 10 minutes Ag has to respond. You must literally have a tab open on SOLG and be monitoring it all day, :-)
Needalife is a bit slower off the mark at 20 minutes, then fires off multiple volleys.
Says it all.
Nothing better to do, guys ??
So when you admitted to being 1981 you were lying? I'm afraid to say your writing style, use of the words poppet and sweetheart (I note you've dropped those now) and overall message i.e your belief that the truth is known only to you, rather gave the game away.
Anyway, keep up the good work.
Add, I finally get it! Do you think I had a different alias before? Interested to hear who you thought I was. That would explain why you carry so much baggage and would also explain some of the random things you've directed my way! I get it now.
I am ex-army, I do run a construction firm mostly staffed by ex-service people. As for everything else you've posted? 🤷♂️ Utter insanity.
This morning I pointed out that Fort's attempted ramp massively UNDER valued our shares, but clearly reading isn't your strength? And you're fixated on a former poster, so that might explain your lack of nuance?
Mr Curry, you wouldn't believe this but there's a bloke on here who used to post under a different name and told us that some arbitrage product was lurking out there (lie number 1) and that it was going to destroy the market next year (lie number 2). He then said he'd manipulated the market (lie number 3) on behalf of a client (he had no client, so lie number 4).
He then reappeared using a different name and claimed to have seen some Chinese bloke going into a hotel for a meeting with one of our advisors (lie number 5). He also admitted to his previous identity and then claimed he didn't (lie number 6) Apparently, he's an ex-Royal Engineer who owns a construction company, which is curious because he'd previously implied he was a financial professional (lie number 7?). You will also note he spends his time telling us the company doesn't have a Tier 1 asset and is, according to one of his posts this morning, only worth £200m.
But the funniest thing of all is his insistence that he's a shareholder.
Sorry kat. Forgot to mention, even bnc turned up last week.
Soon shot off again when sp dropped, bit premature bnc. See you at the next rise.
Kat. In your wisdom, can you explain to a thiko loke me, with the abundance of good news posted on here, why the sp is now 15p. Qudy and smickster both posted a shopping list of positives yesterday.
Copperpots back with oft repeated venom, novice has crept from behind the curtain, adickt is being adickt. Rk and fort, are wetting their knickers, the other idiot said we're in for a bounce, I'm told daily the data rooms full, also the China man has a wheelbarrow full of cash. Scotty doing an incredible job, we've money coming out of our ears, pro mining party will win election.
All good news. What don't the markets get.
I don't understand it,
Who are the derampers, Kat, and how do you think their presence denotes a strategy? Also, who are the strategists? Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me. Does your theory imply that people posting on here change sentiment in this share? Seems quite far fetched.
I think people can post with impunity, confident that it is the market at large judging solg, not individuals reading this board 👍
.......... suggests that there is sincere and strategic interest in this asset.
There are 100s of boards on LSE which attract less interest in month than one finds in a day here on SOLG.
Keep on barking at the moon, derampers. When you all shut up and go away, I may be discouraged.
Don't forget Slugs other predictions ....... "Putin won't invade Ukraine"
......." Cressida Dycks replacement won't be male, or indeed white".
He's always making a dumb ass fool of himself. Steer clear Curry...the man's a pure eejit altogether.
Curry, you are right, and you don't even even know the half of it as a new poster. We have this one fool, who calls himself 'slug' who is so stupid he doesn't understand temperature, and thinks human made global warming is part of some long con to take his wealth from him! Ridiculous, isn't it?! Stick around and he will raise his stupid skull out of the trench again, to get taken out by anyone with more than half a brain.
In the meantime, another day goes past when someone forgot to tell the market that we're about to get cut a big cheque by a friendly, charitable investment arm of the Chinese state...🤷♂️
I have difficulty understanding why a company, BHP, Chinese related, etc., would want to spend enough money to develop Cascabel and enough to keep a lot of posters on here happy by starting a bidding war. Surely, they would want Solgold to obtain the finance and build the mine before making a move. To me a bid now is likely to be low and not likely to result in a bidding war. I would be happy to be proved wrong, so I will just have to wait patiently to see what happens. Of course, I might be dead before anything meaningful does happen to the share price!
Frog
Correct AgAr, I hope you're pleased with that conclusion
Highflyman. What time do you think the 0.6 of a penny bounce will come.
I think you was in such a rush to poo hoo my reply to rk. You had a rush of blood.
Bit of advice mate, engage the brain, next time.
Rk posts sh**te, don't make a fool of yourself trying to defend him
