Do t be fooled by trading agendas dressed up as scepticism.
Certain people on here talk their own book, basically lying about how they view things in the hope their 'sell out and buy back cheaper' tactics pay off.
Couldn't agree more Colins. There are some on here who can't have many toys left in their prams.
Some people are so sceptical, it makes me want to vomit.
In the commercial world it is all about dates set by organisations and countries as is greening the commercial fleet. The hold ups, if you think logically, are regarding when they have to be compliant. That is a few years down the line and if MSC want to stay competitive they have to carry on using crap fuel for as long as possible so hence the delays etc etc. No hurry my friends.
But the world of luxury yachting is somewhat different. As said it is a luxury very few can afford so those that do indulge get a bashing from every angle by those in power and those with an axe to grind. It is jealousy in its pure form.
Getting a carbon neutral fuel onboard keeps the jackles at bay and the owners happy to pursue their dreams on the water and away from the rest of the human race. They have a more urgent need and I would guess if this were known to the many billionaires that own these vessels, the big ones costing up to 1 billion dollars to produce they would happily fund any project that has legs, as this one does.
I watch the rubbish being thrown around daily on this site and am amazed at how Jason is one day an idiot who has no idea to another when he is the best thing since sliced bread when the share price pops for a few days before dropping back. Some of you seriously need to grow up and put on trousers and get out of your nappies.
To all long term holders I hope you get the rewards you deserve, to those that wish to bash the company whenever they wake up with a hangover caused by cheap wine, !!!k off somewhere else.
I wonder if today's RNS will warrant JM donning the QED gilet and getting in front of the camera for an interview. Might be a good opportunity to provide some more meat on exactly where we are with MSC / Morocco, which I'm sure we'd all appreciate.
Wowzers what a great bit of unexpected cheeky news. I think this is massive not only in the context of displaying our technology in front of high-end potential investors/shipping community but the fact that BMZ will be a Zero emission fuel is major news in itself and this is a clever way to test and accelerate the concept to market. So showcasing this kind of thing in Cannes is a double whammy. Literally showcasing our technology and solutions in front of multi millionaires. Hopefully they can crack the fuel, every faith in the world-class chemistry wizards we have to make this work and perform well! It would be a great advert for us.
I thought it would take them much longer to develop BMZ to be honest….is this why they needed extra money from the last raise for this R&D on this front? I’d be interested to know how far along they are in developing/testing BMZ at QRF. Fingers crossed this all goes well, it could be massive for us and Vertoro. End of the day we have to be planning ahead because we want to be a one-stop-shop for decarbonisation solutions! Simple as. Don’t underestimate what it could mean. Just because they are planning for the future doesn’t mean they aren’t focused on the present and delivering on current core projects and in fact it only adds more reasons for MSC to want to pursue QED when they have a MSAR platform which is adaptable and flexible depending on what fuel sources/blends they use. The IMO are implementing incremental year on year carbon tax across the shipping industry, right up to net zero by 2050, where I’d imagine by 2050 the Carbon fines would be quite financially crippling, kind of like buying a pack of cigarette right now in the UK lol, so if you are MSC you’d want to have a plan in place for the future. Hence why they are working on it because it could essentially be QED’s golden ticket to being a blue-chip company. Jasons gonna be sailing the ocean on a BMZ fuelled Yacht smoking a cigar haha. Keep the news flowing ;)
"Of course the crossover from these engines to plant machinery, farm machinery etc is only a step away."
My main target would Africa diesel generators.
"Data from Wood Mackenzie, a global energy consultancy, shows there are now 17 countries that have more off-grid diesel generator capacity than on-grid power generation capacity. The researchers estimate there is now roughly 100GW of operational diesel power across 39 African countries – and they describe this as a “conservative estimate”. "
https://www.energymonitor.ai/power/weekly-data-africas-diesel-generation-boom/
To be fair, BioMsar is what got MSC involved in the first place so the Zero version is part of the core marine project. It is where the market is ultimately headed, so makes sense to work in parallel developing this fuel to eventually replace whatever fuel is used for the Biomsar LONO.
On the other hand, if a lot of rich yacht people hear about QED in Cannes in September, perhaps they will think it is a good idea worth investing in ;)
Focus on core projects was the message consistently given. We have core projects that have been running for over 3 and 4 years respectively with no end in sight for them and we are to be excited about this non core left field project.
Yeah OK.
Jeeze. I'm sure that if some on here won the lottery, they would moan that they were being paid by cheque. ;)
Seemed like a good left field RNS to me, but hey ho.
It would not take a year to build this yacht, as stated they will have several in build no doubt and maybe one or more on speculation. Recently the demand for yachts has fallen after a massive surge post Covid. As mentioned Jason has had testing in the lab underway for many years so maybe this is the payback. If they are going to display this at Cannes that is next September so not that far away, unless it’s September 25, let’s hope not.
Of course the crossover from these engines to plant machinery, farm machinery etc is only a step away.
But proof of concept is not proof is supply as all of the refuelling stations in the Med, which would be the best place to start the commercial side due to numbers, as these stations would need upgrading in some form or another in all marinas. Larger yachts are mostly supplied by tanker, many taking upwards of 1,000,000 lire’s, or there could be central refuelling stations, Gibraltar, Barcelona, Genoa, Athens, Malta etc. Fuel duty could be lowered as well to make the adoption and maybe conversion or engine upgrades feasible.
.
Agreed and whether this thin market is excited or not this news is potentially massive for us and the shipping industry. We know it will work and finally we can see some proper outcome for us all !
Stock ramp in full flow I see. Just wait till we get some commercial news. 😳
Okay, it's not ever going to have the same impact that signing of the agreement with MSC and Cargill is going to have, but it's good to see they are actively broadening their reach into other sectors. Maybe branching out into cruise and ferry would be an obvious next step, imo. Being an Island nation we are not short of some major players operating in and around us on the ferry side who are actively looking to decarbonise and I've heard that MSC have a nice line in cruise ships. :)

Not to overreach, but maybe also a look towards defence as they are certainly looking themselves at alternative energy types.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/defence-operational-energy-strategy/defence-operational-energy-strategy
Lots of scope, and adoption by a few will hopefully have a snowball effect with other potential users.
GLA. :)
Shiny new toy, to keep the kiddies distracted.
"Under the JDA, a land based testing programme to investigate the performance of both premixed and blend-on-board bioMSAR™ Zero solutions will be carried out prior to testing on board the yacht"
I doubt they are building it from scratch today, it'll be either a cancelled order or it'll be mostly built already, just waiting for interior and options to be selected.
First up we have land based engine tests, the results of which I am sure they will be trumpeting, and that will get a lot of interest.
These are green. Solar power only.

“So a brand new yacht will be built for the trial. Don't they take at least a year to be built ?”
That’s called “imminent” for JM’s standards 😂
3 trades only.. not triggering vast enthusiasm on the market…

Yes. But they may have laid down new yachts and simply have to designate one.
So a brand new yacht will be built for the trial. Don't they take at least a year to be built ?
I wonder which engine manufacturer.
I see these listed as options on their existing yachs, so that's a choice of four manufacturers.
Engine Options
2 X Mercuiser 8.2 HO Magnum MPI 430 HP, Bravo III-XR JPS
2 X Yanmar 8LV370Z ZT 370 HP, E-SHIFT (recommended)
2 X Volvo Penta D4 320 HP, DP-I
2 X Volvo Penta D4 270 HP, EVC / DP-I
2 X Mercury Diesel 3.0 270 HP, Bravo III X
2 X Mercury Verado 5.7 V10 400 HP, Outboard engines
At last Jason has seen the sense in creating a fuel to service this massive market place.
Yachts, be they small or large are at this point in time hated by left wing governments and eco groups around the world. The bigger yacht builder, producing yachts of 150m have been toying with every imaginable technology to get the vessels to become perceived as green. They are of course not but greenwashing is all around the industry. This move, bringing together respectable companies to combine their tech. To create a fuel that is genuinely carbon neutral is a game changer and the sooner they get that yacht on the water and on display the better.
The vessel being built for trials is small but the marketplace is crying out for a sustainable fuel. Other fuels being developed would no doubt end up on the larger vessels of which globally there are around 7000 or 8000. If they prove the concept there will be a day when yachts not using this fuel will be banned from marinas or many cruising areas, including the Mediterranean that contains half of the worlds fleet. Owners need to justify their yacht investment and at the moment many are pulling back from ownership so this is really a win win for all.
There are bio fuels being sold to the market already, very expensive and heavily subsidised. This could be the ball breaker.
