Trading statement out today, but the breakout was yesterday from 780. GLA and DYOR
Analysis: https://uk.tradingview.com/i/mevyNhg9/
Despite optimism expressed on this board recently, the sp has trickled down rather than soared up
The Div growth may just be flattening after that, it was not clarified at the results presentation but the question about divesting Viridor was, could be before and out of reach of any Govt move?
seem OK and nice and steady as one would expect. Bump in the divi and continues till 2020. Then what? Harder times ahead going forward or might just be stolen by the next government by the sound of things along with a few others that might get sucked up.
SP down on the day but markets generally subdued and local threats dont help. Hanging on for a bit longer, maybe it will all blow over!
I dunno, Corbyn looks close to number 10 to me. The Tories are busy ripping themselves to shreds.
Although I think it's unlikely he'd get a big enough majority to enact the more extreme of his policies. Even the best polls for Labour show a Labour minority government.
Surely the share price has drifted too low. The threat of Corbyn and Offwat have surely been overplayed, and the waste side not given full credit
The hit to income from Interserve EFW contract is now estimated at £16M and could be up to £72M if Interserve cannot/fights the full claim? Await final results on 30th May to see the latest hit.
Dunbar ERF successfully taken over from BWV to contribute to earnings for 2019 and beyond
again yesterday. So have bought some more and averaged down again !
why such a big drop today ? Just when I was getting within 10pct of breaking even !
All quite positive but as ever markets pulling this lower on all current political/ regulator/ Brexit etc etc woes !
Well I got my "nice fairly mundane slight improvement statement"
The cherry on top was the improvement in recycling.
Trading update due so eyes will be on pnn this week. Outlook looking more negative generally what with regulators, the government meddling and Brexit woes maybe bringing another general election fears and the concerns over re nationalization.
Otherwise I would be expecting a nice fairly mundane slight improvement statement.
KISS ..... keep it simple stupid!
I think most people will knock this implementation of what might be a good idea.
I did read an article on investing in shares that your used so as to live for free ie Water Gas Elect oh and Pubs!
hadnt thought of the tax return implications lol. That would make every householder in the area liable to complete a return for a poxy couple of quid. Quite silly. Easy enough if you do one already, but so many people are on rubbish hand to moutth incomes down here i bet the vast majority dont. A complicated system, much easier to just be straightforward and cut the bill - simplest ways are usually the best.
Taking shares was popular with the customer feedback.
I take it they thought they would get much more than 3 shares.
Yes, questions on the admin for this system but sounds like you will be able to sell them, maybe free of charges. So everyone sells and then moans about fat cat shareholders again?
The idea sounds good but in practice looks poor. Now if your forced to keep them and given more each year it might work as a loyalty scheme of sorts reducing bills over time but you can get that now with real shares albeit you need the capital to start off with.
Are they setting you up with tax complications? Although a quid in income should be well covered by the tax free allowance but having to fill in a tax return for this is a waste.
Maybe it just needs to start and be tweaked along the way. When you collect your pension you might have 40 x 3 shares so might reduce you bill by a quarter at todays rates forgetting any inflation but they might up the share count too. Sound a bit like Gordon Brown, let me give you a fiver ...... oh! your taxes are going up a tenner too!
spent my 27p already in anticipation - had to flush the loo twice!
It is a bit of a nonsense gimic isnt it. The only advantage i can see is that if it continued over, say a few years, people could accumulate a few quid in shares and maybe more reluctant to vote for having them taken off them by government. Water isnt a bad price down here - its the sewerage charges that are the real killer, they are truly obscene and when you look at the state of the sewerage works the 'we are investing' argument is clearly a lie.
Looks like they have 1005700 households in the South West and Bournemouth so that is £19.89 worth of shares each!
I assume business wont be included and I have ignored the Isles of Silly.
So rounding to x3 shares that's £1.08 a year or 27p of your quarterly bill. Im sure Id be ecstatic
"£20m of accrued benefits from the PR14 WaterShare mechanism will be offered to South West Water customers in the option of ‘shares"
Not sure how many customers they have to share the "shares" wont most just sell them instantly for the cash now? or will they be prevented from selling? Will bills just end up with your bill is £100.00 less share gain you owe us £99.90!
why not offer real shares and save the people dealing fees and the like and run some sort of trust? This smacks of trying to be political PC and I doubt the bill payers will think it much benefit but the detail might be much clearer
On a quick skeg, looks like lower returns for shareholders going forward .....
Will they continue to outperform and reward that bit extra?
I suppose its a sign of the times cutting shareholder returns whilst at the same time creating customer shareholders so they can obtain and share in the rewards!!!!
You do realise landfill tax is higher than EFW tax ? The waste has to go somewhere, ask the Scandinavians who have been doing this years . It’s the way ahead , profitable, green and actually well regulated by the EA and SEPA
Doesn't make a difference what's coming on line...slightest bit of controversial news and SP bombs...tax on waste burners!!! .
Hot commissioning progressing at the plants in construction.
