Lacklustre article, frustration showing even..?
Sounds good e.g. "a raft of other hydrogen projects that can make a significant difference, such as the UK first plastic-to-hydrogen facility at Protos. We’re looking to roll out the Powerhouse Energy plastic-to-hydrogen technology with up to 70 sites across the UK which could produce enough hydrogen to fill nearly 5 million buses."
But no excuse why Peel aren't progressing this..
"But no excuse why Peel aren't progressing this.."
Except that thy still haven't got planning permission for the plastic waste sorting and recycling facilities at Protos which will provide the feedstock for the DMG, nor for the hydrogen fuelling station at Protos.
Piltick, my understanding is the feedstock will be shipped into the site from elsewhere. Do remember the Protos DMG, in the first instance is experimental unit. It is technically no commercial unit until it is fully tested. In the first operation the tonnage processed is to be far below its full capacity. Check the Glasgow site it’s only got planning to process 13500 ton a day. Even that site is in no way at capacity.
Audible, I have told you at least twice about this - 13,500 tonnes is the ANNUAL throughput, not the DAILAY throughput. It is approximately 40 tonnes per day.
That made me laugh this morning thanks Audible. 13,500 tons a day and that's running at a reduced rate that would be something eh.
Best learning your facts next time pal before you shoot yourself in the other foot!
Piltick
Try the following links to the planning application for Protos before making the statement that peel haven’t been progressing their application.
Last set of documents submitted on the 9th may 2022 with over a hundred pages including pictures, both aerial and ground level. That showed all manner of information including water vole latrines etc.
https://www.protos.co.uk/destination/planning-and-consents/

mjallen, I didn't make any such statement. If you read my post carefully you will see that I suggested the reason why Peel has not progressed plot 10B on the ground is because they have not yet obtained planning approval for the other related facilities at Protos, on other plots. I put the blame for that squarely on the planning authorities, or planning system, and not Peel because I am aware of the developments that Peel are making at Protos. As I have said on several occasions, development of Plot 10B depends on approval of the planning application that Peel submitted on 7 October last year.
Your post was dated yesterday at 18.41
The latest correspondence of the 9th May has not yet been replied to by the planning dept. or NAT England. The ball is firmly in those two places and not Peels. How much more progression can they carry out. So I'm not sorry to point this out.
I do agree on your last paragraph though. That the two are intrinsically linked. It is still possible that they may scrap the DMG plant if the rest of the site fails to pass planning. It was only for the parasitic use of energy by the other plots and transport fuel of waste materials.
If that fails then why build the plant. Just use energy from Plots 4 Bio-fuel plus plots 8 and 9A.

Mjallen: Similar position in Rothesay Dock, West Dunbartonshire.

Must be equally frustrating for the BOD and investors when skimming this lot.
Just hope they don’t apply for a rail link. :)
mjallen: The comment "But no excuse why Peel aren't progressing this.." is not my comment, hence I placed it in inverted commas, it was a statement by Kontiki2 in the immediate previous post. I was actually disagreeing with his statement, which is the reason for my final sentence explaining why, in my view, there has been a delay, putting the reason onto planning and not Peel.
Incidentally I do follow the progress of the planning applications for both Protos and Rothesay, and comment on the delays on this BB fairly often.
Fair point PT
My apologies the previous post you referred to from King Kong was on the next page on my window.
That's the trouble with sound bites as apposed to context.
Although I hadn't thought of the possibility that Peel's latest planning application for Protos could fail to get approval, I take your point that if they don't get it through there probably wouldn't be any point in building the DMG facility. Still, I think there is very little chance that it will be denied, but it could take a bit longer I suppose.
I don’t see much happening in Elton until the planning for the rest of the site is sorted out.
Its frustrating but understandable.
I was at the Kestrel site the other day (approx 5 miles down the road by Vauxhall)
The lads doing the ground works told me that the plans have changed a lot over the past 12 months with no definite on what will be put up on there yet.
I’m taking that as the back up plastic park.
There is already a glass recycling plant next door to it and the area is huge easily large enough for what they want to do in Elton.
So as far as I’m concerned it’s just a delay not a massive problem if the planning doesn’t go peels way on the Protus park.
@paddyfly it’s further down the M53 by the Vauxhall factory.
But not so far a way to make sorting a shredding plastic a problem.
Plus it’s already an industrial area so there shouldn’t be the objections from residents ect about extra wagons.
@PaddyFly if you look on google maps you will see Eastham Metals.
Right next to them is a large area of waste land.
All the concrete has now been removed and is currently being crushed.
The ground is being stabilised and I think some piling may be going on.
After looking a bit closer it could be a nice barge trip upto Protus.
All guess work though, but options for Peel are available.
