Economic Impact

The Amapá Iron Ore Project is expected to significantly contribute to the local economy, historically accounting for 82% of the state's export value and 3.5% of its GDP. This redevelopment strategy not only aims for immediate cash flow through the Azteca plant but also focuses on long-term growth and sustainability in the mining sector.

Key Timeline (as of mid-2026)

1. Sept 2025. Heads of Terms signed for Azteca plant restart and offtake financing.

2. Dec 2025. Binding US$4.6m offtake prepayment executed. Funding drawdowns commence. No further equity required.

3. Jan 2026. Preliminary Environmental Licence (LP) granted.

4. Mar 2026. Detailed mechanical & electrical engineering completed.

5. Procurement launched for long-lead items.

6. Early permitted works begin (structural steel repairs, motor/pump removal, etc.).

7. Apr-May 2026. Installation Licence (LI) granted (early May 2026).

8. Project moves into execution phase.

9. Contractor mobilisation, site works, refurbishment, and TSF (Tailings Storage Facility) activities ramp up.

10. Future time line from here May 22nd.

11. June 2026. Target commissioning of Azteca plant (end of June).

12. July 2026. First production expected. Float tailings pump installation and initial operations.

13. Weather. Wet season December-May.

Chisler, there is always the scenario that Morocco, view their potash more valuable than any settlement? Or that the people in charge be nationalistic zealots and don’t care a jot they just don’t want to give up their potash product and it’s all for OCP?

One would think they’d be taking an interest in this investment disaster? But, if it’s based upon a legislative deficiency then it’s to Morocco to resolve. And they won’t come near if EML, are likely to go or are going to court?

Very solid RNS, does definitely bring some new year cheer. Now the moroccans are going to be starring this problem in the face. If it’s a rogue employee or two then Morocco, I’d expect to correct the wrong and EML, proceed to build. If it’s a legal technicality associated to a developing country then I’d expect Morocco to correct the law(s) to allow EML, to build the mine. If EML, go to litigation then Morocco is bust, it will be acting against international interest, protectionist and isolated and more deeper than that in fact Morocco deceived a foreign company and foreign investment; incompetent to carry out business. imho.

There was ample time to stipulate the requirement. Instead the government both national and local played a deceptive game. The court will see this.

The company always referenced that the Moroccan Gov was in communication in respects of the environmental permit. That alluded to “advised the company of what they defined to be a minimal standard to gain the permit”. Compliance and therefore successful issuance was not to be a mystery or pot luck. The country of Morocco isn’t a casino, no one expected the permit to be rejected or hung up. We have either been mislead by the management or the gov has mislead us all? The latter points a finger towards.

Be aware the Chinese don’t hang about. They operate a biz model that an investment should break even within 12 months. I doubt the mine taking several years to build.
