18th Jan for Trading Statement, make or break time for many holders maybe?
Onwards and Upwards. All we need is an encouraging RNS on the Christmas Sales. Soon Please, I need to sell part of my holding. But I'm not letting go under 55p !! GLA Pete
Can someone explain why the Level 2 pricing is a lot tighter and the spread closer, thanks
*former pfd holder. Really need to proofread before posting.
I would like to add that I too am a former off holder, it didn't work out too well for myself, but there is no I'll feeling towards the company, and still actively buy it's products. Warm regards to current holders here and a happy New year to you all.
I'm into Stagecoach & Marstons. Both paying a divvy and both have a low so at the moment. Might be worth a small toe dip.
This is good news for people like me i.e. diabetic. How many of my co-diabetics (a good few million of us poor souls in the UK I am told) get sick and tired of having to keep looking at packages in shops and putting them back because of the sugar content? Furthermore, if something shows it is good for diabetics it usually costs more - why is that??? With diabetes now a major problem and concern for us all could the boffins at PFD capitalise on this - non diabetics would surely like less sugar as well/kiddies lunch boxes etc. - come on PFD get moving on this and be the pioneering food manufacturer to finally show seriousness on this issue.

about time, just hope these get listings in shops https://bakeryinfo.co.uk/news/fullstory.php/aid/18945/Mr_Kipling_launches_reduced-sugar_cake_slices.html
4winds, Bought in before the bid and so sure another bid would come following the dumb rejection of the 65p offer. I have been super wrong.......2 years of zero yield or capital growth. I have halved my stake at break even since the CEO is unsackable.
Hi, doing my end of year spreadsheet and actually at break even on PFD at 42.75 for 35k of shares. This share does my head in, and have felt frustrated like a lot of content here for the last 18 months. Question is it time to move on to something else. Other holdings are Burford Capital, Hurricane Energy and Pantheon Resources. Any likely movement due shortly with PFD? Any tips for a share with a good board and is going somewhere?
AndAnotherThing that is good response to the complete novice on this board. It is the key numbers that will matter to understand impact on premier's 49% holding, so far these have not been shared, especially the hovis ebitda for year ending tomorrow 31/12/2017, which is key to the valuation of hovis. text from hovis 2016 year end statement: Bread volumes are down 9% year on year due to reduced volumes and cessation of trade with certain customers. During the year the company invested significantly in product quality resulting in an increase in the volumes in the second half of the year.
That's good news for Gores. It will be interesting to see how 10.5% on sales converts to £'s, and then to PF's 49%? If the trend continues, it might encourage Gores to buy the remainder, or for some new player to take a look at buying it.
The main difference between Thomas Cook and Premier Foods is that TC got Harriet Green, all-star; whereas, we got gavin darby, con-artist. Green lead her company up with her talent and foresight and darby took pf down with his lack of skills and his lack of integrity. To take a leaf out of TC's recovery would mean pushing darby out the back door and hiring a capable leader.
Thanks for your post and the link. However, this is good news, but as usual, does nothing to the SP. To be honest, I hope I'm wrong, but the only way to get the SP moving above the price Nissin paid for their stake will be for Nissin to top upto 29.9%. Yes I can see the SP at 60p ish on a good Christmas and also the Hovis situation. Happy New Year to all, take a leaf out of Thomas Cook's recovery, from 10p to £1.60 or Taylor Woodrow 4p to 35p who knows what 2018 holds? Good Night
as I had predicted, get ready for surprises on hovis on the upside in the new year. happy new year to all. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/12/28/bread-sales-rise-first-time-three-years-brits-ditch-cafes-home/ Analysts at Neilsen said Hovis had seen particularly strong growth, with value sales increasing by 10.5 per cent year on year, making it the fastest growing major bread brand in the UK. Hovis has achieved this through introducing innovative new products such as its upmarket "Seed Sensations" loaf, which lends itself to artisan-style brunches. New half loaves and low carbohydrate versions of traditional loaves have also proved popular. Sara Green, head of insight at Hovis, said: “The latest data clearly demonstrates that the British public is falling back in love with bread. Our new products, such as Half Loaf and Lower Carb, have been launched in direct response to changing consumer needs, meeting the requirements of smaller households and those seeking to enjoy a balanced and varied diet." The total value of the UK bread and baked goods market is predicted to grow by 7.5 per cent over the next five years to reach £4.4 billion in 2022.
Well if we hold on to this share price or even go up a little today I will be contented. Let us all hope for some good news soon and a bumper year in 2018. We have been patient for such a long time, I suggest we the suffering ordinary shareholfders deserve a break. Fingers crossed for the first real news RNS to be great news !! GLA And a very healthy and prosperous New Year to all. Pete in Amsterdam
A prosperous year for everyone one hopes. GLA
Hope things improve in the new year for you all.
happy xmas from me as well ! Also hoping for a prosperous year for all the small shareholders
Merry Christmas everyone, lets hope a more prosperous PFD year ahead.
with all respect, you are just re-echoing the ceo's crap to show everyone that all the improvements are due to his magic formula. Reality is Premier is consistently shown to be only a quarterly result away from the next disaster. He has made good use of trends such as weather to show improvements which get untangled within months. If food prices are 4% higher than a year ago, why is premiers sales flat and profits dropping. In the past supermarkets have tended to make own labels crap so that they can then sell brands at higher margins as customers start believing brands must be better, this went on for years. Lidl and aldi have shown own labels can be quality. Supermarkets are now making quality own labels to compete. This is effecting brands and over the next few quarters this is likely to have an effect on Premier's profits. Darby's only response is to have more discounted promotions which effect profits, premier cannot afford drop in profits due to the heavy financial commitments. Premier's success is not guaranteed, it has lots of risks. I did not see any kipling mince pies in sainsburys this year, last year asda took them of the selves, who will it be next year.
The problem is even with a good Xmas and we have had a few, the problem has been after and this has been due to the products needing a re-vamp and new products have been needed, even the timing of Easter has had an impact. In the past we have not had a Nissin deal or Mondalez we do now. There will be ''slack'' after Christmas which has historically knocked the SP, 2017 may be different.
