2 weeks before the results, after 2 profit warnings, the PFD share price was 42.75 This year, after no profit warnings, the PFD share price is 37 Where is the logic in that ??
Huge positive run up on the Market over the past few weeks. Premier Food (you guessed it) flat.
Just googled it and it's a freight company with same name.
Spotted a sign for a Nissin Food plant on an industrial estate today in my home town. Was sorely tempted to spray it with graffiti
Love it.....I wonder if GD will use the tried and tested ones on the 15th....or maybe he will come up with some new ones. Maybe we could suggest a few for him on here. How about wrong date for the royal wedding ? Or he put the wrong pair of socks on ?
Good stuff on the posts below. I wonder how the board in general and Darby in particular view their own personal responsibility for the catastrophe that is Premier Foods share price and market value. No doubt everything is global events, or Brexit, or the strong/weak pound, or anything except their own manifest inability to manage the company. How they (the board) have managed to get away with such incompetence is totally beyond me, where is the accountability? Sorry, that's where we came in wasn't it, lack of personal responsibility and in this case professional accountability and integrity. Gordon Gekko would be proud of them.
Fairly similar here. Retired at 62, now 68. Spent last 13 years of my working life at Premier Foods.....hence the current pain !! As you say...this time next year
Yes am afraid so, retired at 56 but now 69 and still young at heart. been playing these games for some 30 years or so and like many , made money and lost money but one day will be a million air. Rodders
Totally agree with that, Old Timer. It seems to me that personal responsibility does not exist any more. It is always someone elses fault. If we eat too much, get fat and die....its the fault of the people that made the food. If we smoke, get lung cancer and die, its the fault of the people who made the cigarettes.....and so the list goes on. Get rid of the nanny state and bring back personal responsibility!! Judging by your name, you are probably an old timer.......so am I !!!!
Wan't there a similar argument about smoking many years ago? The sugar tax has now gone through on soft drinks, it may be sweets and cakes next? The NHS cannot cope with the aftermath of " eating too much and getting fat " . The education of a healthy diet is slowly happening, this will mean falling sales for PFD unless they change track.
Goodness are we turning into a nanny state, let companies make the products they can sell to make profits, if they cannot sell them they will stop producing them. It's not up to companies to try to control people's eating so if they want to eat too much and get fat then get diabetes etc and die well let them. We all have a duty to ourselves to eat what we want to a degree and if we cannot control it the tough it's our lives. There is far too much control already, let's not blame the companies.
Like I said, maybe popular with the older generation !!!! People are learning that there is no substitute for freshly made meals. Why is there such a health crisis with diabetes, heart disease and cancer? It looks like people are eating too much of the wrong foods.
Anything is possible with GD.
Darby would have to lie again about growth to get those juicy bond investors money again.
I bought Vesta chow mein a few months ago just to prove to my other half they still exist If they weren't selling they would soon be removed from the supermarket suppliers list.
Sorry reuben you are wrong, I know there is a trend with a number of young and so called with it people to eat all these Gluten Free, low sugar, low salt, low carb. products but they all / many taste like cardboard. In-fact there are now some study results coming out that say it's bad for you as the body doesn't need them, so let's all get back to filling out tums with them and make pfd more profitable.
Not long now to see which way we are going. If there was any justice in the world, Darby would be walking if results aren't excellent. Can't see it though. Have to agree with Reuben that our product range is looking quite tired and dated. All the best stuff was sold off to keep the company alive.
Does anyone on here buy much of PFD's product range themselves? Nearly every product is past it's best before according to all current trends. Gluten Free, low sugar, low salt, low carb. Maybe still popular with our older generation but they are getting fewer by the year.
If the large shareholders know more than we do about what is going on and the Chairman and Darby's wife are investing their own money in the company then something must be about to happen. Investment companies will only sustain losses for so long provided the can see the big picture. I am holding on to my relatively small stake hoping they will eventually be proved correct and I will be carried along. If they start to sell up that's the time to get out. Also holding out of sheer bloodymindedness in the hope a dividend.
Well only a few weeks to results and to find out just what's been going on. Are we going to see growth of 4%, profits at a high, debt reduced, and more free shares to GD as a reward for doing such a good job in these hard times ,sp saw, or in the words of old pfd bod's a good time to invest, meaning there's lots more to do and no hop of sp getting anywhere near 65p for ages.
I agree , get the whole lot up for sale , this is a disaster , or sell in job lots on ebay ! Starting bid 1p I joke of course , but we do need some business acumen bringing in to save us from going bust.
Just look at all the recent mergers and takeovers, PFD needs help and should be put up for sale. Forget the previous bid, just put the whole company up for sale. Darby is EVIL and doing all he can to screw retail investors.
Think you hit the nail on the head!!! GD would have been gone ages ago, if the large shareholders were not in on what is going on behind the scenes. Quite simply, if Nissin buy Batchelors and the proceeds are used to pay down debt, yes sales will be reduced, but so will costs and of course less interest will be paid on the debt. Would this leave us with an undervalued company? Maybe the large shareholders think it would?
You are 100% correct and all the small shareholders know it, but for some reason all the large holders either don't give a dam or know more than we do of what's going on, and until they speak up we don't stand a chance.
