I bought today's dip. Good company but bad times! 5% div yield now.
Well here we are at £20. Good company this. Hoping more of a rise is possible.
Very good positive results which should push the sp back to the £20 level. Still a very long way to its year high !!!
LOL! Happy to help. That's a ~6% bounce. All is well.
Well said jim - you sorted that!

Think I've spotted a typo in the forecast 2022 EPS figure: https://www.marketscreener.com/quote/stock/MORGAN-SINDALL-GROUP-PLC-4002325/financials/
EBITDA, EBIT, PTP and Net Income all show an increase
I've been watching MGNS for a little while and today I've made a small purchase. I'm a long term investor and it is my intention to buy more shares over the next few months. From the research that I've done, and with today's RNS, I'm happy to have bought in.
I dont think its a fear but an almost certainty that we will have a very severe recession. I would have thought that such a solid co like MGNS should offer good protection as an investment but 25% or so loss in such a short time is very severe. And with so much more bad news to come i fear the sp could hit the £15 level or even lower. Very short term . i think the sp will bounce back to maybe the £18 level so for short term traders with £ to burn and not risk averse , there is the potential for a quick 10- 12% profit !!!!
I think it's just recession fears, with some companies and sectors obviously more likely to suffer than others. Spooked across the board, so keeping some powder dry for when we see some evidence of confidence returning.
The sp has now lost around 25% in a very short period of time, is the market anticipating negative results due out on Monday !!!

A short term bounce with the price soon to go under £19.
We are only in the start of a very serious bear market.
I hope you are right SinghO.
I have just bought back in at sub 1900p.
A fantastic company with potential of breaking records at its financial year end!

I believe this could be a very good entry point for this share. My only worry is whether the soon expected results will be as good or better than the last set of results which were exceptional.!!!
This has fallen around 17% from its 3 months high , in line with most profit taking that has taken place recently.
However considering the great last set of results the co showed, i believe this is becoming very attractive , specially if it comes down to under £21.
One to watch out for
Maybe the price of materials in the news recently is a factor.
Excellent set of results for half year, and excellent prospects to be a record breaking year.... yet share price drops??
AGM today, can be nothing but positive news.

That would be John Morgan, who sold 650,000 and made 13.2 Million. If he had held he would be 1.6m richer today, however, as he still owns 3.5 m shares, he's probably not overly worried.
All to do with inheritance planning, full story here

Well I saw a big director sell a few days back so decided to follow suit and bank a good profit.
I am thinking that the price MAY pull back in the short term (as they say -sell in May) and then pick up again late summer. We will see as this company is a great one.

Profits are similar, programmes are extended to cater for Covid, hence prelims go up to accommodate this. Just costs the customer more.
Is COVID related shut downs causing margin erosion on contracts.
Easy to see how- delays and reduction in efficiency.
Longer term I would be more confident on,
however it's difficult to be confident of much atm.
Hence I'm not clicking any Buy recommendation.

I am far from unhappy Jebediah.
If you read my previous post you will see I made a 61% profit on the sale (almost £8 per share). I do however, have a bad habit of selling before a major jump in the price of this share. No complaining though, I have always sold at a good profit and have collected some generous dividends over the years.
Good luck
kenj
Cheer up Ken, you are maybe clear of CGT. I too went early but only to top slice and use up my CGT allowance. When the hot money moves on we may both have a chance to get back in.
I sold too early yesterday, as usual, with this company.
However, I got 20p more per share than the CEO who sold 650,000 shares yesterday at 2050p.
With the current sp of 2235p John Morgan could have made £1.85 more on each of the shares he sold. That is a notional loss of just over £1.2m.
As I held only 200 shares my loss is far less painful.
Well-excellent results even better than I expected. You would not think that there had be any pandemic looking at their results and forecasts. The future here looks even better every time they report.
Could well get tip in the press with the great prospects they have going forward.
A very well run company with a great future.
I sold today at 2072p after the excellent Trading Update. Could not resist a 61% profit, but I will be looking to buy back in if the share price drops.

This co for me is very much under the radar ! Compared to its peers like KIE, BBY, Costain and Interserve, the trading volume of its shares is very low, its balance sheet looks reasonably healthy and the co should greatly benefit with the coming infrastructure boom promised by the government. And yet the price is stuck in the 1250 range !!! Why ?
looks more likely to retest its low...perhaps dip below £10?
Well someone chickening out took a loss but I think they have left at the wrong time as things in construction get back to normal especially in the public works sector where Morgan Sindall is.
It can be easily achieved. Look at the all institutional funds that invest in the stock https://fintel.io/so/uk/mgns
They are moving the price , also the business outlook for MGNS is great
Price ticking up nicely as all sites get back to full speed ahead. A few weeks of ticking up and we will get to target this year for a nice safe return on the investment.

Excellent results out this morning and actually doing more work than I expected in Lockdown. Will soon be back to normal trading. Also I expect that profits could well be up this year as what happens when less work is generally available for workmen and suppliers is that their prices drop to contractors like MGNS thus improving profits or in MGNS case making up for any shortfall in tutnover. Alsos they have a huge future order book and with lockdown easing this weekend all should be back to normal soon. Not a lot of shares in free float so I would get in quick if your keen as could soon get bavk to normal share price of about 1800

Certainly a recovery stock
John Morgan has always taken advantage of these sort of situations. Certainly bigger than what he has had to deal with before but more than up to the task.Knows how to keep the juices flowing
Cut his teeth selling hairdressing businesses in a poke of an office in Golden Square flogging the odd desk and promoting
a punk rock band whilst practicing as a commercial property agent so no stranger in rolling his sleeves up
Maybe his swansong but cometh the hour cometh the man

"This is such a fantastic opportunity at the moment"
Fully agree especially as sp has dropped even more since your post.
Just used the last of my spare cash to buy a few at 1273.775p.
The dynamic of a construction company is different to that of most others. Where there is delay incurred on projects that is not attributable to MGNS (i.e. Corona), it actually increases entitlement to recover costs.
The government have already announced increased spending in the infrastructure sectors and the recent drop in oil prices means that operating costs of heavy machinery is significantly reduced! This is such a fantastic opportunity at the moment

bought a few after 16% drop.
Government must support infrastructure spending to get economy moving again
"what's not to like?"
The fact that the sp has dropped to 1138p perhaps?
However, I agree, IMO this company represents a good investment, especially at these prices.
Feels like a solid home for one's cash. Well covered generous div. supported by a mix of well established drivers with a solid track record- what's not to like?
Going along nicely
