I was happy previously with my £4k profit on Mars and have now a small holding here, as well as across the whole market. I see you three are legends in your own minds- and so I must be in the right place!
Enjoy your beers next week!
Who will have to buy back? I still have a nice serving here. I did pull out at 93p a few months back but still left in a nice sum that is sitting nicely. Wouldnt want to be buying at todays prices compared to when we were in teh low 30's. I do beelive your Gratis shares you cashed in at 10Bob which could of been double now.
Those who pi55 in a wind tunnel are the ones who will never learn SD.
But you sold at under 50p, so I doubt your advice is really required.
For Wales -The Brains and Marston’s pub operator has confirmed which of its pubs will be reopen for indoor service – along with their existing outdoor service, from Monday May 17.
Marston’s has confirmed that all of its pubs in England will be able to reopen for both indoor and outdoor service from Monday 17th May. All pubs will adhere to government guidance when they reopen.
Glad they have also confirmed what I always said 1500 Pubs - enjoy and don't choke on yer porkie scratchings the 3 amigo's! You will have to buy back again soon at £1.20.
Sorry to say I told you so.
The Brain's estate requires a hell of a lot of refurbishing. The full details of Mars agreement has never been disclosed, I do wonder what conditions are in place that requires Mars to spend on the updating..
The whole agreement was so hastily signed ( to send a signal to Platinum), do wonder if a thorough survey was untaken of Brain's properties. Interesting Brain's Chairman stepped down at more or less the same time RF decided to retire.
YoYoMa
Even better to see you back again though, with your priceless analogies, I almost spat out my morning coffee in laughter when I read your connection of a Brains beer garden to Shameless, I presume you were referring to the US version set in the south side of Chicago ?
It took me back to a time I was returning from Ludlow races, missed the connection, at Swansea I think, and had over an hour to kill in the nearest pub, a Spoons, never been in anywhere quite so awful before or since
Good to see you back SuperDischarger I guess you've been busy these past few months. Make sure you keep topping up at 96p as RF is going to need a whip round for his carriage clock on his departure shortly.
On a separate note I was in an SA brains garden the other day it was like a scene from Shameless so I just hope to high heavens there is a strategic plan otherwise this venture will turn into a farce and classed like Wetherspoons
Supercharger
Perhaps you have not noticed but RF has plenty of time to frequent pubs these days, now he is yesterdays man ?

“It’s fantastic that our pubs can reopen, inside and out," says Ralph Findlay, Marston’s CEO. "Over the past few weeks, we have seen people visit pub gardens, come rain or shine, for the pure enjoyment of socialising with friends and family.
3 buys of 20k + last 30 mins someones confident.
London agree with you views as I emphased earlier. Suspect it is an " Old Pals" act. Have been saying for months since befre the Carlsberg deal, we need some fresh thinking. RF's vision to create a Pub and Accomodation business of Excellence, took a hit in my mind when he decided to Manage a bunch of below par pubs in wales. The company needs to be more adventurous now the leisure industry is begining to re-open. There are opportuinites here as some/many facilties will not open or are facing financial pressures. Unfortunately this is an element which constrains Marstons.
Andrew is a numbers man so expect some serious cuts but not at the expense of service delivery as this will ultimately impact on customer satisfaction
Good morning all,
Disappointing appointment.
We wanted someone outside to bring about real change to improve the poor performing share price.
I wonder whether they couldn't get high calibre CEOs to apply.
Good luck all.
Yes, thanks for your input Fairdealer. As usual, very valid (if not clinical) points. I can see good rich pickings here short term with pent up demand coming. That said, there will still be the historic losses made in the whole of the sector over the past 12+months with little or no trading. No way all that money is coming in over the space of a few good months ahead. Recovery will come, but not quickly.
Thanks fairdealer for replying. Revolution Bars update yesterday gives encouragement to the pent up demand theory, however I understand your caution re lost ground due to lockdowns. I was trading this share but got stuck at average 100p some weeks back. Optimistic medium term at least. All the best to those holding over the long term.
I phoned Marstons a few days ago re the use of the Privilege card in Brains Pubs and received an email back to say that they would be accepted but to go on line and check which pubs are participating.
Budget caps, head counts here we come
Amirkat, 130p is probably wishful thinking. By the end of September the trues extent of the damage done to the balance sheet will almost be known. If you think not only have pubs got to make up the month's of lost income, even when re-opened for indoor drinking, social distancing will still be in force for a period of time. My guess is the SP will hover around it current level.
Barchid, yes it was a Racing certainty that Andrew would step into RF's shoes. Never sure keeping the old guard in place produces the dynamism shareholders want to see. Hope in this case I am wrong and a new and hopefully external appointment to CFO will bring fresh thinking to the company.
So we now know that the CFO is stepping up to replace RF as CEO, from the continuity angle that seems a sensible decision, but as ever, the devil is in the detail, for at this juncture they do need a good CFO, hopefully they will fill this position soon.
Good news is today's Gov't announcement on being able to go IN the pub next week. Light at the end of the tunnel at long last. Good news for Marstons and of course, is shareholders.
Happy days ahead I think.
Roll on the end of summer; is anyone brave enough to hazard a guess where the share price may be at the end of September, assuming a decline in virus and good trading performance? Perhaps 130p
Roll on the 17th, breweries will be working overtime.
SP 105+ next week !
Everything looked ok till the US opened. As US tech stocks seem over valued and has to readjust, what are the chances of that capital flowing into the likes of mars, nex etc just as their sectors are going to be substantially opened up? Fingers crossed but makes sense to me
Just read that the High Court have ruled in favour of the govt re the hospitality sector being allowed to re-open indoors earlier than may 17th. It was a long shot but would have been nice if they had won. Only 2 weeks to go.
