The measure reduces the tax-free allowance for dividend income (the ‘Dividend Allowance’) from £2,000 to £1,000 from 6 April 2023 and then to £500 from 6 April 2024 for individuals who receive dividend income.
Policy objective
This policy supports the government’s objective of putting the public finances on a sustainable path in a way that is fair, with everyone contributing a little and those on the highest incomes taking on a larger burden.

STP - Question, why do you ask? Are you suggesting Labour wouldn't have done the same (or worse?), As the Country has just come through a very difficult time, huge sums spent on protecting businesses and jobs, it's understandable a responsible Gov. would look to raise income from those best placed to pay,
If your question is who would I trust to manage taxation after the General Election, My answer certainly wouldn't be The Labour Party lol lol lol lol
Child.
The Tories like Labour do as they are told.
One thing will bring this government down immigration, when a political party is willing to lose power and to be humiliated over an issue, an issue that could be solved with a signature on a document, there must be more afoot.
No official body even tries to talk the talk on Immigration anymore, the lies are exposed the damage done.
Mass immigration is not only affecting us, look to Canada, Australia and now parts of the EU.
The left is being slowly driven out and of course the bureaucrats in our civil service and in Brussels hate it .
Tory MPs willing accepting loosing their seats and their nice little earner ,for what to provide a better standard of living for immigrants at our cost ! No MP gives up their seat for anything unless something better is in the offer.
After the next election there will be several more Muslims siting in the Commons and whom do they care for !
Investors here risking their money to make a profit, whilst they are losing more than ten fold that just by keeping the status que. Since 2008 and through Covid we have all lost much more than anyone will make in Lloyds, we are just attempting to tread water and kidding our selves. Governments need to keep interest rates low to cover their massive borrowing costs, where do these costs originate, not providing services for me and mine I assure you. I am now 70yrs of age, still paying tax, still paying council tax still paying VAT still paying fuel duty, still paying a tax if I take a flight !
Everything I do and you do is taxed, even our heating fuels. Fresh air is taxed, we have never paid so much tax, in peace time ! All that tax and we do not even have the means to carryout the first points of any government to defend our country and our people.
A Tory government which now calls anyone, whom differs from their line of thought is an extremists !! And of course Labour will by its very nature compound our problems.
People should, but will not of course come to realise that the two party state is that way for a reason it suits the establishment it is a simple divide and rule set up. As legal immigration and illegal immigration is a device to divert our gaze. Mass immigration is a whole, it is not two halves, the result is the same lower living standards for the masses .
Over the last three years you gaze was set by the establishment on Ukraine now it Gaza, there are dozens of deadly conflicts going on right now, the establishment decides which you will see nightly.
So lets keep the political arguments that our fathers and grandfathers fought going, for it serves two means, 1. to keep us in check and 2. to keep the same people in nice easy enriching jobs, which they pass on to their children.
Sticky
Bob eats hot cross buns.
He's got alot of Bonking to do shortly.
What we've ended up with under the Tories in 2024 is a leftwing plutocracy. A Labour or Labour-Lib-SNP-Green-Plaid-Cymru-Sinn-Fein coalition in 2025 simply doesn't bear thinking about.
Aspergers1

Hi tj2, thank you for updating us. You are right "it" will win. Also agree that stricken and battling are not the right words to use. Live for the day tj. xx
“until Labour crash the economy”
While I understand it's the current trend is to 'knock' the Gov. in power, It's really difficult for me to imagine the vast majority of sensible voters would inflict such an 'act of self harm' on themselves as to elect the Labour Party into power
Surely collectively, we're not that dumb???
SUFC time for another holiday then it will rise and I can sell some more 😀😀
“Outstanding post Child”
Well this bit anyway…
“until Labour crash the economy when 'in” 😂
👏
Here we go downhill ,just as we were getting optimistic
As Kate and the King have seen fit, so will I , having been on here since Chid was BS and Whitelady et al , I am getting sick of looking at the drivel on here, most of it not related to Lloyds in any form. You seem to believe that this is the most important thing in your life, non of my other investments have a fraction of the posts that Lloyds does, not sure what that is for. Me I have come up with better way of making my life savings pay a better "per year" contribution by joining Kate and the King, although they are both two years behind me.Me , I retired in 2021 and 6 months later got the diagnosis , all plans knocked on its head, does not matter what I think, what will be will be, NHS have been fantastic, but ultimately IT will win. You moaners should know that it's a "one in two" bet so it could be you next. stop with the childish crap, leave the politics out, we all have our own opinions and we are all right, left or right, rant over, either stay in Lloyds or get out but, less would be more, by the way , not "stricken or battling" anything, just got it

Hardup "so you have been ultra ramping this up on an almost daily basis saying hold on until £5, and now you are saying you have sold up! What happened to £5?!"
that is why it's called "ramping"....
DYOR
Child, your posts provide a realistic analysis of the political backdrop going forward that will impact investors. It essential to inform the right wing of the political reality, so they can make informed long term investment decisions. Please keep up the excellent posts on this topic.
"Outstanding post Child"
Not really. Just the same old boring repetitive rhetoric from Chid repeating the same thing every time like a stuck record.
STP, thanks. I usually get moans for repeating the same old same old, like of course NO-ONE else does that on here.
But at least my thoughts are my own, and I try to think what I would do, IF HMG, or the Lloyds board, in a certain situation etc, rather, than as many seem to do, instead think what they would 'like' to occur. As usually the two are the polar extremes.
LBP........so you have been ultra ramping this up on an almost daily basis saying hold on until £5, and now you are saying you have sold up! What happened to £5? 🤣🤣🤣
Up 25% in little over a month. I am thinking Lloyds have now made the Tories look slightly better than before this sweet rise.........this goal is achieved.
Thank you to all my lovely Lloyds Buying Prats.... great job here!!!!!
Until after this buyback is completed......................
I will return in due course..........................until then, I will bid you all adieu.
