Sorry to dissapoint you chaps. Ex-Div tomorrow (26/05/22)
Tomorrow is ex div day. In my experience and observations this does not work when the SP trend is upwards, which it has been over the last year. I could be wrong on this occasion and it may fall my more than the divi amount tomorrow. I personally would not take the risk.
Hang on... So we've gone ex-dividend today and we're UP 60p p/share??? Nice!!!
I saw the broker upgrade this-morning: that's clearly carrying considerable weight.
well, as far as I know if you still got them on the morning of ex-div date then you will get the dividend even if you sell same day.
It says X dividend day today and I’m always wondering if best to sell today or wait for the dividend, it just seems on most occasions you end up better off selling then buying back, especially with the rise over the last couple of weeks. The same principle worked with Rio and GSK.
What’s other peoples thoughts?
the truth of the matter is that the state pension is being sacrificed to sustain the public sector db pensions that are over generous and funded from current taxation, basically it is a ponzi scheme. the problem has been known about for over 30 years and all govts have failed to tackle the problem through fear of the public sector unions as they are so powerful that they could bring the country to a standstill and bring down any govt.
the tail has been wagging the dog for far too long and one day this will all come to a head.
"You will own NOTHING...& you will be happy".
Hey aliveandkicking what this government has done to the pension system is disgraceful in time the state pension will disappear and people will have to fund their own retirement except mps of course. This bunch we have in at the moment and I mean all must be the worse lot since the thatcher years can still hear that p...t tebbit telling people to get on their bikes go look for work that's not there just like that guy telling people to work more hours to pay the bills their perception of the working guy has never changed and it never will like you say stuffing brown envelopes in their pockets there is so much corruption in government it will never change and us ordinary guys have to pay for it
I agree Jing I am not impressed about waiting 2 more years and i feel sorry for my kids who can work to 70+ my grandad and father in law all died under 70. WE all signed up for our state pensions in good faith aiming for 65 , Ladies blame those feminists you had 60 and then let the wok feminist make u do 7 more years !!!!.My point is its bad enough to make changes for the future but to screw people over when the finish line was in site is below the belt. MP's are lucky they get 1 years full salary straight off when they loose their seats £80k for doing sod all !!! then get a good pension and seats on boards of companies drinking coffee for 1 day a week stuffing brown envelopes in their pockets for favours from their mates , it must be hard ..
Hey aliveandkicking could not agree more with you read this report on yahoo early hours Saturday morning later it had disappeared wonder why!!! Health Secretary after 700 million from tobacco company's to fund his pet projects I say sarcastically. I am nearly 66 now should of had state pension a year ago as I retired early and done my finances for 65 in this country governments always seem to be looking for ways to put boot into the hard working guy over the years nothing has changed and I don't think it ever will a country for the privileged I think
Rant over off to pub with wife half pints only now lol

Anyone else concerned about HMG constant interference in FTSE100 companies and gunning for the smoking industry now ? , I dont smoke or drive a V12 Aston Martin or V8 Muscle car etc etc etc but hey I think people should be able too do what they want if it does not hurt anybody else .What is the meaning of life if you cant have some sin and pleasure now and then ? It seems every share I go into some wok bore and jealous idiot wants to stop my dividends and fund via my income their latest green issue and misguided self interest campaigns. Oilers are not allowed to make a profit for share holders god forbid or reward share holders at all , All builders are to blame for Greenfill towers despite poor gov building regs etc so again all builders must pay towards cladding removal regardless if their company even built any dam tower blocks in the first place !!!!.We had the UK banks bled dry by PPI false claims to make HMG look wok and caring and now the sin Cig companies are being clobbered despite like the oilers they pay massive amounts of taxes to HMG coffers . Can somebody tell me where I can invest and get a good divi without the green wok nutters telling me I must be a privileged multi millionaire and then stealing my retirement income from me yet again ?.
Yes nice to see - an average of all the recent upgardes would see us back above £20
Still underwater on my original purchase price but the fat Div means I will own them for free in 3 more years
Three of them!
Morning riskingit yes to true the ups and downs of investing have made some nice profits over the years so take it on the chin if I make the wrong call
See it is holding up well today thought it might pull back a little
LOL too true Jing, if we all bought and sold our investments at the right time no one would be sat here looking at this board before breakfast.
Hi throne games that's good you did not sell out hope you are showing a profit now. Who knows where this share will go think it may follow the ups and downs of the market now if it does slip back will buy back in judging by my timings if I buy back in might be a time to sell lol
Gla jing
Hey Jing, I nearly sold 2/3 of my holding yesterday at 1700 with a view to buying back at 1600. It was a close call. Mind you nobody can rule out 1600 in the future. I think today's results and price action indicate a fundamental change in perception re this share. It's had a terrible 5 year run, but has bottomed out and the last year or so has been a great time to hold.

''up to over 20 quid with strong buys.''
it was at about £32 at the start of 2018
Well the market certainly liked that
Hi riskingit
Yep bad timing some you win some you lose that's life lol
Been in this share since June 2019 been a rollarcoaster ride think at one point was about 20k down. Will sit on the proceeds for the moment and see what happens with dividends about 2k up so not a complete disaster but of course wish I was still in but with my share selections and timing not surprised this has happened lol
Good luck all jing
Burry sold out at a similar level. What would you do with the proceeds of the sale and what are the associated opportunity costs?
In the loger term good steady results + div + growth and it doesn't matter the short position in the company the business will increase in value - short term trading is loaded against PIs - you don't have the news flow or data the professionals have - play the medium to longer game for success. - 3 months holdings then review each holding every 6 weeks - its portfolio management.
10% up now. £18.32 on T212. Will there be some pump and dump soon or is this institutions getting in for an inflationary beating divi long term hold. Forecasts are 1850 up to over 20 quid with strong buys.
This share is my largest holding & no way I'm selling out when I'm receiving around 9.5% dividend yield on the prices I bought at !
Wow Jing talk about bad timing
