BA crews asked to take a 5 month leave of absence with no salary in an email today. 50p coming.
@roger061, Friend of mine being told not to take any holidays Now-March and BA crews (she is there more than 5 years now). so different stories.
Happy to dicuss this in about 6 weeks and let us see where the SP is. Shows how skint BA are when there are not even running in flight food service unless you consider a plastic bag filled with poor sarnies and a KitKat
roger61, the very strong cash position of IAG today is underpinning the share price, if you believe 50p is coming are you shorting it or are you just part of the clown club ? What matters to me is what is the price today and maybe what it might be in a few weeks from now and for sure its not going to be 50p.
Roger,
Don't be part of clown gang. Declare your interest short or long in IAG and let us assess in 6 weeks to see if you have made any money.
Roger 61 you are talking rubbish and I know this as fact as I have family working for BA, they have not received an email asking to take 5 months leave. However, even if they did that would see a rise in the SP as that would show IAG are being aggressive in cost cutting...
As to cash reserves read the RNS (aka educate yourself) and you would have noticed IAG's cash position of over 9billion.
At a burn rate of just over 11 million a day (down from 20 million) you don't need to be a rocket scientist (in you case maybe!) to work out that 9billion /11 million translates to 818 days before going bust and that does not include the income they are still getting from flying so in reality its nearer two years....Even the most pessimistic of us know a vaccine will be online by then....
Good luck with your short position:-))))
Bet there’s a lot of companies who wish they had £9Bn liquidity! IAG have finally got a leaner more efficient workforce as well. Roll on next year this will be the FTSE share of 2021!
Today's preliminary results have de-risked IAG share price. I am thinking all the bad news is out in public domain, so IAG should follow rest of the travel sector. There is no reason for IAG to behave differently. I am happy to hold through next week's results.
Make no mistake a sniff of a vaccine being sanctioned and from current levels we'd see a 30p rise in the first session after
I'm also liking the fact that the ftse100 index is at a low point and we are nicely set up to give 110 a crack again. With ftse still sub 5800, we could have a nice tailwind from the main index over the few trading sessions as a rebound of at least a couple percent is likely.
If you consider 'long' the weekend then if people are that confident why would they sell over that 'long' weekend? FYI I do work in the industry so just calling it as I see it. I was invested and sold at no profit or loss. I am not short. I do think that whilst the results are priced in I still think there is lower to come. Just my thoughts and do not wish to offend anyone
It is and has been common practice for BA to offer cabin crew periods of up to 6 months unpaid leave, even in times of mega profit.
Clearly it's forward flying programme is significantly reduced, re RNS.
This does not equate to a 50p share price.
Triumph,
I am watching ftse closely and it is flirting around support level at 5780. If it bounces from here towards 6000, IAG could crack 110p
the nice thing about is that toot and ploot the non shareholders go very quiet
Roger dodger, expressing your view is welcolme and you will find most on here will listen even if they disagree it will be polite. There are a few clowns but i'm guessing you will have figured them out by now. We don't all get it right or wrong, but many of the guys on here are pretty smart (and probably a lot smarter than me!). But if you BS they will be unforgiving;-)))) and rightly so as I nearly lost a s**t load of money listening to clowns. Luckily the smart guys prevailed on me...
Good luck
I'm selling 20k at 1.175 euros tomorrow if it reaches that, but my gut feeling is it will still climb beyond that- so just profit taking for friday night beers (if anything is open!!)
ps previous post predicted this outcome...
@sunsurfer
I'd expect that target to be hit tomorrow.
I'm hoping for 109p+, circa €1.20.
Got one tranche to sell, but holding out for 150p+ with a decent holding.
Good luck.
I think you are probably right but i need beer money!
@sunsurfer
As they say, better than wasting it.
Enjoy.
Rob you could be right bc looking at the numbers a loss of 1.3 on a turnover of 1.2 billion when normal trade would be 7 billion plus shows how much IAG have become leaner and they are still pumping iron so I think this will take off by 1st quarter results at the very latest with a buy back then dividends in 2022 & 2023...
don't worry castle you don't hold any shares, relax
Airports are empty because testing hasn’t started yet
1) deaths will go down because FDA approved treatment is now available.
2) from uk news briefings it appears local lockdowns is the way forward . Markets only react wildly if there is a national lockdown
3) most of Asian countries slowly opening international travel which is positive news for IAG
4) more countries are being added to quarantine exemption list and my inbox is full of get ‘winter sun’ emails
5) no volunteer ever had serious side effects because of vaccine trials , means we are expecting to see safe vaccine soon
Surely there is some optimism I am feeling . If I am a shorter , I will adjust my short position .
I’ve held this share for a few months now, so experienced some pretty heavy turbulence without being in the air. Not really certain why anyone would short it now, and am even considering topping up soon, if the price remains at around £1.
