' Long term oil is history.' But mid term it is required and the O&G sector has been vastly undervalued, that isn't me saying that but more importantly major investors who intend to take advantage of the current situation; Warren Buffett, Carl Icahn, Jerry Jones and Sam Zell among the managers betting that oil and gas are oversold and flocking to the energy industry - the worst performing sector of 2019 and see it as one of the big winners for 2020 with 23% earnings growth next year.

Beerbull,
' Long term oil is history.'
Well said, that man! 'Peak Oil is a myth that's been well and truly shoved in its grave.
Oh, or did I misunderstand you? Were you implying that reliance on hydrocarbons is a thing of the past? In that case, if referring to the last hundred and twenty years or so, I guess you're right. Unless you include coal, which goes back a bit further. But it's also the present.
Dunno about the future, because that hasn't happened yet, so by normal definitions of time, doesn't exist. If you believe in such 'normal' definitions of time.
On which subject, what the devil are you people doing up at such an ungodly hour on a Sunday morning? I've got an excuse, 'cos there's a poker game starting in La Rochelle at two.
Lousy weather for driving, but at least there won't be much traffic. Sorry to leave you, but must go and pollute the atmosphere again.
I'm not sure what their logic is but despite the support of Greta and 'the message' (whatever that may be, as personally I haven't quite deciphered it yet), I haven't seen it change the behaviour of the younger generation.
They still don't bother to vote, and for consideration of the impacts on this share they are still massively driving oil usage. Are they handing back their mobile phones and playstations? Are they really going to give up their dreams of international travel and holidays? Are they saying no to imported Chinese good and food from all over the world? Good luck to them if they do, I just haven't seen much of the change needed myself though.
How Greta gets about is almost irrelevant, it’s her message that’s got traction. The thing that recently stuck in my mind was at my kids speech day, the headmasters speech amongst others was about Greta etc etc. No doubt our kids will be the agents of change as they are quietly indoctrinated at school. Long term oil is history.
Daltry,
I don't get the significance. Everyone knows that it's 'The Western capitalist nations' responsible for all the ills of the world, and it's up to them to 'mend their ways'. And anyway, Greta would have a hard time getting to the place shown in the clip on a sailboat.
