Amey appears to be a private company now not a PLC ?
Amey was acquired by UK private equity outfits One Equity Partners and Buckthorn Partners on 30th December 2022 from Ferrovial of Spain in a transaction valued at £400m.
Big fall yesterday after RNS HSS Hire Group To Lose Amey Plc Contract
Today's news matches what my broker shows this must be the one analyst .
Deutsche Bank cuts HSS Hire price target to 13 (18) pence - 'buy'

I’m not aware of any hire companies providing details on exposure to customers, either in % or £ terms, as it’s gives competitors targets to go after
So in 2015, before the Amey contract, EBITA was only £20.3 m and the share price was £1+.
This company has failed multiple times on various stock exchanges
They would be if offered enough!
Wont happen unless the two biggest shareholders are in agreements. Check the share register

I agree. Given the size of this contract, why was this never covered in previous updates. Among the plethora of stats in the annual report, shareholders have never been informed upfront about contractual risks like this! Very poor from the management team - and the CFO is leaving
Not good news imo.
The downward spiral will continue.

I think the issue is we have little in the way of free float; two huge holders one of which is a PE house with no clear exit.
To be fair, I think that HSS has a decent strategy, business has £350m of revs & EBITDa c£65m, plus the exec team has reimagined the business over the last three years to create a much more focused digital-enabled business. Despite reinvestment in the business ROCE is still c17%. They've endured a succession of hits -you know what they are: covid, cost of living, RMI downturn etc....but they seem confident enough about the strategy to continue to invest behind it which inevitably dampens profitability.
The 18p target seems rather optimistic, but for now you are getting 5% return on your money.
Have you considered if Ravensworth and Exponent couldn't agree on a deal, they would be deadlocked. Neither can buy any more. There cant be any other suitors due to the ownership of the other 2, in a way there is too much ownership, which is stifling the upside. I cant see other II's taking investment positions just yet given the debt, and cyclical issues this has, and as you said lack of strategy from the company. Hire sector is quite saturated, I don't think there is room for all of them. We dont hear from management much do we, Chart looks bearish as well.
The company appears completely friendless. Exponent & Ravensworth seem content just to pick up the dividend, and its very hard to discern any sort of strategy behind their holdings. Given this & the tough sector its hard to see what will spark this back into life. 500k traded today; a chunky 100k purchase lunchtime which was then outvoted by a series of sales, a mix of algo and ordinary trades.

I'm buying in today and over the next few weeks, no reason in a positive environment this shouldnt be 18p+
Think today is more about politics and technical shorting.
I had expected a continuation today of breaking through 11p, with a hope of maintaining it into close.
Alas it seems the opposite is happening.
Strange to see shares being sold today, as today is ex divi date.
Well that's the stock markets & shares for you.

End of year report has been published.
https://www.hsshiregroup.com/investor-relations/financial-results/
Showing good growth over the course of the year. An increase in debt, though it seems much of this is due to capex and expansion

Well it tested the 11p, fallen back, but hopefully it will try and break through again and maintain 11p+
Fingers crossed
Breakthrough?

Interestingly even at an ask of 12.5p the final dividend yield is still in excess of 3%
Given the price it's been the last couple of months, happy that is t gone above 10.
Would like to see it stabilize in the 12 territory
Well we have some movement today.
I've been expecting this to rise close to divi qualification date.. Thursday I think.
Let's see if it tests 11p today.
Gla
Real struggle to get things moving here. I was expecting that the results would provide a decent catalyst but there's been little if any real follow through. One wonders what the end game is for Exponent & Ravensworth sitting on c60pc of the equity. YTD its down 16%, and the 3-year picture is even worse...annualised loss of 16pc.... no wonder the CFO has thrown in the towel.
It needs to pop through 10p today or tomorrow.
Fingers crossed

Nice ONE well done!!!!
Yield, not coverage (damn amateur lol)
Perhaps Deutsche Bank is right :). The dividend is also very good coverage at over 4%
The list of stocks Deutsche are bullish on is quite puzzling.
Let's hope Deutsche can stimulate some interest here.

Looks like Brandon Hire not preforming well, plus ca change. Am mildly reassured by HSS update with sale of power unit - trading in line. Am also mildly reassured that the team's work over last 3 years to radically reshape the business, become capital-lite digitally driven platform business may actually be working. Would like to know more about why they chose to sell Power albeit it improves debt profile and capex requirement dramatically. lets hope the outlook statemetn isnt too dire
VP COMMENTARY:
" General construction remains challenging, which has impacted the performance of Brandon Hire Station in particular. An operational review of this division is well advanced and the new management team is focused on actions to drive margin improvements alongside medium term strategic objectives."
Mostly buys until later in the day?
A month til annual results, will be interesting to see what they do with the 20 odd million from the sale of the generator arm. Would be nice to see some of the debt cleared and further tech investment.
Interesting......some hefty trades today

Wow big sells but aome chunky buys
A big realignment in shareholdings appears underway. The question remains who is selling down their holding? Only comfort today is that despite the price action sp is holding steady. Difficult for the management team who must be fed up with the constant shenanigans

And now at 1pm its up to 1.7m shares ......and not a directors purchase in sight...but then why catch a falling knife.
Another 1m+ traded already this morning. The institution is still selling down. The big question is who is it?
Agree Fevertreeman,
Whilst I regret being in at a higher previous price both here and in Speedy, both will turn at some point and we'll see a recovery in the price. I've topped up twice now sub 9p. With the asset sale so no need to call on shareholders for capital, the price will rise or we will be taken out. Patience will prevail.
Despite announcing the power division sale, which will improve the balance sheet, and confirming 2023 trading in line with market expectations, share price continues to head south. The lack of liquidity in the SME space is a big issue in the UK, and with so little institutional support, the gap between fundamental valuation and share price continues to make UK plc the bargain basement for corporate/PE shoppers. It would appear that what we have here with s/o determined to reduce/sell out their holding....over 1m traded today. Patience needed

To put it in context, the mkt cap is what £63m and they’ve just raised1/3 of market cap with power generation sale…crazy stuff and very undervalued
Yes reread it and found the cash fig at the bottom of the release. Silly of them not to highlight it
Wonder what valuation is placed upon the business as the large shareholders must be thinking we can take this private as the current low valuation
My bad, at footnote agree £20m, yet strengthens balance sheet and reduces debt thus add to bottom line as interest payments reduced etc
So 20 million cash, rather than 23?
It was RAVENSWORTH up to 29.5%. You know what comes next.
19516071 @ 11.5 (£2.2M)
It is just under 3% so may not trigger a RNS.
Encouraging.
22 mill?..that was chunky
Some meaty buys .

Very much in agreement. Relistened to the interims presentation, and was impressed by the confidence and clarity of teh management team. Well positioned going into tough period: strong balance sheet & cash flow; rewarding s/holders with progressive divi, and clear strategy. Share price doesn't reflect the quality of the business (now) or the management. IMO, an each way positive bet : markets recognise quality and share price responds OR market doesnt and Private Equity snaps it back up
Nicely done. I should probably get some more here.
For clarity, my buy was the UT listed at 1635 for about £6k at 9.94p
I am in too with a first purchase at 9.99p, I think that is a good average?!
I am in.....A dividend paying, forward looking company, very well run....at a ridiculously low valuation.....I think must be worth more ,with fantasic management pulling all the right moves.....

I think those SWS articles are not very useful IMO. They are kind of AI generated, just looking at some key numbers. If you are going to invest in small caps and AIM stocks, you need to go deeper than a few headline numbers. Yes it has got a lot of debt, but sounds like it has headroom. Below is info from the RNS regarding the debt.
The debt facilities consist of a £70.0m senior finance facility and an undrawn revolving credit and overdraft facility of £25.0m, both maturing in November 2025 but with an option to extend for a further 12 months. Including cash balances of £36.6m, the Group had access to £61.6m of combined liquidity at 1 July 2023.
