and the acquisitions are really paying off. Gb group is worth 700p imo. Swung from a net cash position to debt but paying it down quickly. When debt is paid down then there will be good scope for divi hikes and a boost to the yield. Looks 20% undervalued to me.
Although I haven't traded since November last year and moved all my funds out of my SVS account, I still thought my account was active. I went to look at my trading record yesterday evening and found I couldn't log in, not even being able to get into the SVS web site. On looking closer I noticed on Google there were articles about SVS going into "special administration" at the begining of this month!. Anyone with funds and/or shares in their SVS account are unable to access them or do anything at all until the FCA has investigated thoroughly which could take months. Just as well I moved all my funds into my bank account to enable me to have enough funds to buy my house at the end of May!. Had I been looking to move now I would have been completely stuck and any move would have fallen through. Doesn't bare thinking about and all the ramifications it would have had for all concerned. Good luck to all who have SVS accounts; they are covered up to £85,000 (way above what I had in funds) and truly hope they don't need the funds in the immediate future. Just shows none of us know what is ahead. Probably using a well known, reputable broker is worth paying a little more for their services.
Good luck and regards to all
CM
Good evening BT
hope all is well on all fronts. Looking at your last post and the date of it, it looks like you may have moved into your new abode by now. Sorry it has taken me a while to reply. To be honest, I don't look into things much these days and only noticed you had posted when I checked things over yesterday evening, so it is a bit of a catch up. Trust everything has gone well and that you are now settling in with nothing has caught you out. It can be somewhat unsettling initially but most times things work out well. Still getting use to things in a different neck of the woods here, so much more peaceful and relaxed though.
Thanks for your kind comments re RR. Yes, she has been diagnosed with dementia. She has some excellent care, although at present she doesn't need a great deal. There is a befriending service which I can not praise enough. Elderly folk can feel so isolated and lonely so they play a heroic role. Unsung heros. I was last with her a few weeks ago when the last of the work was being done to re-instate the house after the header tank damage done in February. Thank goodness all the work is done. Mum will now (should now) feel much more at ease which should help the overall situation greatly. I expect another visit sometime in September, or sooner, as required.
Re Brexit......well, will it ever be over?. And now we have Boris as PM!. If ever they are looking for leading roles for a remake of the film Dumb and Dumber, then they need to look no further than Trump and Johnson. Trump, fearing people are forgetting he is the centre of the Universe has decided to take another swipe at the Chinese with the consequential affect on the markets. "Will no one rid us of this "meddling priest (President)!" Things can only get better.....can't they?!.
Yes, staying out of the market for the time being seems to be the best play, for me anyway. Hardly any of the shares I held at the time of selling out, have risen above what I sold out at, GBG excepted (although not a great deal) and BOO (which I feel is likely to take a thumping when folk react to fast fashion, wear it once and throw it away, in the same way as they have done to plastic in the environment). To be honest, I feel far more at peace and wonder just how I had the time to be constantly checking and re-checking anything and everything to do with my investments and potential investments. Maybe I will re-invest before year end. GBG, well, yes they do seem to be holding up well, compared to other companies. They have a great deal to offer as always and have never disappointed. They seem to be stuck in a range between somewhere around 530-600p. Still a large number of A trades though, algorhythms (sorry about spelling) by the looks of it. Never happy about that, never was. Seems we need to identify the game and deal with as best we can.
Best wishes to Mrs BT and the not so puppy puppies!.
Regards to all
CM
Hi CM,
From your post I'm not sure whether RR has been diagnosed with dementia or not. If she has then clearly we have to trust in the doctors and accept their decision and advice but I remember from my own personal experience with my Mum that as we get older we all display certain of the symptoms, which can mislead and confuse everyone, whilst not being dementia causing all sorts of worry and concern. I truly wish the both of you the very best of everything. Spend as much time as you can with her.
So glad the move went well, it does sound idyllic and this was absolutely the right choice. We are starting the move process but still await the kitchen in one of the houses, so can't really move in for another 8 days .
Everything else is good here and I hope you are too. I would stay out of the markets until after Brexit, whenever that is. Should be a real boost for uk equities; we are seeing some of that now that Boris is pretty much assured of being PM but he needs to bring Parliament with him rather than trying to shut it down to push through No Deal.
Looking very good here at GBG. I do marvel at the daily volumes when I get back here. Massive numbers of trades and share volumes but little real movement in the sp. I'm guessing that someone is accumulating here but slowly, whilst also selling to keep the sp under control. Could be totally wrong of course. But we aren't seeing any major off loading and sp slide, which can only be good. I llok forward to the H1 Results, which I believe will again be very strong.
CM must go, be strong for RR. I know it's tough most of the time and much harder some of the time but I know she appreciates it as my Mum did.
Take care my friend
BT
Good evening BT. et al. BT, thank you so much for your posts and apologies for not responding until now. I appreciate your very kind words and concerns, very good of you. I have very largely been chilling out as best I can since the move, which unbelieveably is now over a month ago. It's taking some time to get use to the different area, but when I can look out from the garden and see the Helvellyn range, Blencathra etc it really is quite breathtaking and I realise how fortunate I am.
Regarding RR, yes, it's been difficult. There are days when things seem ok, and I wonder if the onset of dementia is all in my mind (excuse the non intended pun!). And then there are the other days when as you say you want to scream. Makes me realise we all have to make the most of the time we have because we just don't know what lies ahead for any of us. I make my next visit South next Monday for a number of days so that I am there when the final re-instatement work is done on the house. When things are bad each hour seems like a day and each day seems like a week. It's very difficult to stay strong at such times.
Being totally out of shares has given me some much needed breathing space during some challenging times without the stress of watching the share market. In truth not a lot has happened with the share price here, now at 552p after selling out at 518p back in November; is it really that long ago?. During that time the share price has been above 600p and close to and maybe below 500p. My other investment(s) are generally lower now than when I sold out. GBG continues to push out some excellent results and RNSs I notice. No rush to re-invest at present. I need to see how finances go with the house move and then may re-assess the situation, For those who remain in the market I wish you all every success.
I tend to agree with you about the nonsence going on in the world. Trumpty Dumpty gets stressed out when he hasn't been the centre of attention (Universe) for more than a week so comes out with anything to grab the headlines. And now we have Boris to look forward to being Prime Minister it seems!, unbelievable, swear you couldn't make it up if you tried!. And the alternative..............Jeremy Corbin?...........someone's having a laugh!.
From re reading a previous post of yours BT, it seems you may be in the new house by now. Hope all has gone well and if you are not there yet that you will be shortly. I am sure it will all have been worth it once you are in and you can look back on things with a beer in your hand or of course the old Jura!.
Sorry I haven't a lot to add about GBG specifically. I have taken my eye off things micro speaking and just look at the bigger (macro) picture. Things may change in time.
Wishing all the very best. Special regards to you BT and Mrs. BT and K9s.
CM
Hi Doze,
Nice to hear from you and to know that you are still involved here. Like you I don't spend much time on here but do check back once in a while to keep in touch. It's that sort of share.
I've known this company for over 20 years (when I was in the data business - changed beyond belief now, of course) and it is one that made a number of key strategic choices all those years ago, but much more importantly, it's adapted and changed it's business model as technology has advanced. As you say, it's push outward from the UK to the US in particular has been impressive. Too many business make that move too soon and screw it all up. You don't get too many bites at that cherry and it's difficult to go back. I really like the 2 latest acq's and look forward to another strong year. They have a wide ranged portfolio of solutions now and these are big, big markets, as you say for both the traditional and the more advanced technologies.
Who knows, it could have been very different had the web been based on an 'authenticated user' model rather than the 'complete anonymity' mess we have now but my guess is that GBG would have coped well with that.
Trade wars come and go and the latest Trump/China punch up seems to be waning. I think it's just about run its course. And the Huawei nonsense is just that, nonsense. I'm sure they are 'close' to the Chinese Govt. but are they any closer than Google, Facebook, MS and the rest are to the US Govt? I can't see any real threat here and see this as just another attempt by Trump to be seen as a tough guy. Immature nonsense!
But there will always be ebbs and flows and ups and downs and it's the mark of a great company that it just copes, adapts, changes and keeps moving forward. I'm here long term and look forward to the next update.
Doze, take it easy and stay in touch, always good to hear from you.
CM, hope all is well with you (and RR}.
Off to grab a beer now before we eat, suggest you both do something similar.
Best wishes to you both
BT
Thanks for enquiring Bigtosh: I am well and not looking in here much having got well used to this share by now and educated by your posts which adds to my wishful thinking which stands in for research! Stock picking is tricky but as a hub for population movement as well as commerce the GB is a good location for the GBG business and recent business takeovers help build the international side up. Tech application is maybe vulnerable to trade wars slowing down facial recognition ? and other high tech used by the business but the traditional transaction data side will always be there and grows. I was pleased to read the international revenues up from 34% to 45% which I would suggest must be more customers for the bread and butter recurring business of fraud identification by transactions analysis.
Was that the bottom and here we go?
Hi CM,
So sorry to hear about our fine filly. Onset and progress of dementia can be very slow so I'll keep everything crossed my friend. Mrs BT and I send best wishes and our thoughts are with you both.
We've looked after 2 ailing Mums and believe me there are times you just want to scream and/or hit the wall (or something or someone). It always passes quickly but none of us are Saints and there is no training manual for this. You just have to get on with it as best you can.It isn't selfish at all. We all go through it and we all need some space and 'me time' to deal with it. Take the time, you deserve it.
So you're a plumber now too? we've got plenty of them around here. It's amazing when you see how new houses are built, just how old and antiquated our current house and plumbing and electric systems are. We've got about 6 bloody tanks in this place, no idea why and very hard water - no softener - which means I'm constantly replacing bits and bobs as they scale up. Just 1 hot water tank in the new houses and softened water, so my spanners can finally be laid to rest.
Hopefully the move went well, you are now in and everything is going to plan. The right choice, no doubt about it. We should be in next month, It's been a saga and a half but almost there .
Just to pick up on the posts below. This drop isn't imo due to Huawei, Hong Kong, Trump, Brexit, etc. Sure we follow overall market movements but this stock is being cycled up and down (as many AIM stocks are these days). With a lack of liquidity generally on AIM it's easy if you are a large holder to simply take the price down accumulate at the bottom and them take it back up in such a way that you end up with more than you started with. More difficult if there are other active players but I think someone (Black Rock probably) has pretty much a free hand here. Best time to take it down is just after results when the news has dropped and when no more is due for a while. You have the share to yourself and if you can trigger a few stop losses on way down it helps with the movement. This has been the trend here for a few years now. I used to worry but now just ride it out; sell a few near the top and buy a few near the bottom. It's worked well for me over time and I keep my main holding here and ride it out.
1000? well of course...in time. I bought is a 35p (ish) and can see this doubling again in coming years. We should see a decent kick with H1 results in Oct as the 2 new acquisitions come fully on stream.
That's my take anyway. Could be way off the mark so please do your own research and come back with your own thoughts. Like my friend CM I don't have a lot of time but will look in once in a while.
Doze I hope you are keeping well m8.
CM have to go please take great care, enjoy the new house and spend as much time as is practically possible with RR.
Best wishes
BT
.
The Annual Report revealed that the company has taken on £100 million of debt, of which £84m was to buy IDology. But the small-scale sell-off was probably more to do with events in Hong Kong and the ongoing security issue with Huawei.
Any thoughts as to the sell off in the share after what seemed a set of good final yr results on the 5th June. I did buy in but am now in the red and big sell off on Friday.
I am going to buy a few of these today. I like this area of technology especially with bank fraud etc.
I see they have done a deal with PHD - a share down in the dumps and unsure if or when it will recover. (Our share club bough @138p!) I wasn't present to vote no at that meeting!! 29p now so yes I'm blushing!!
Anyway, anyone any target fro this stock? With the eps growing then I see a better rating which might see the stock move over 1000p long term.
I see the board is quiet so I'll look back in a week. Ta'ra.
On first reading they are looking good

Good evening BT. So very good to hear from you again my friend. I thought you had called it a day. Hope all is well with all.
I have occasionally looked at what is happening to individual shares but still am out of the market. I really have had other things on my mind. Have I missed things?, no, not at all. I made a good amount overall for me but for the time being enough is enough.
The move goes ahead on Friday BT; not there just yet. It has been a very difficult few months. The easy bit has been the house move in some respects; the difficult bit has trying to deal with Red Rum starting to suffer from dementia. It has meant numerous visits South, especially as she has had damage done to the house from a split header tank. I have been dealing with the insurance, co-ordinating the work and being there at the time and supporting RR. Desperately need some holiday and "me" time which I truly hope doesn't sound selfish.
Keep in touch. I will look in from time to time.
kind regards
CM
Haven't been on here for ages, too damn busy with the houses, but thought I'd look in to see what's up. Latest results look extremely good with the latest acquisition integrating very well, as expected. SP now up and over 600, which is where I believe it starts to reflect true value for this share. It has never been a 'bargain bucket' share and has always carried a strong p/e premium built on the quality of the product offerings and the excellent management team. This company has never put a foot wrong.
The fall to below 500 came when I believe Black Rock were reducing their holding a little. This happens everywhere and why not they were and are sitting on a large capital profit.
I still hold here and will continue to do so. I've sold a few and actually bought a fair few more at 487, which I'm very happy with. Everyone must make their judgement about risk but I still see great potential here.
CM, glad you sorted the house move, sounds great to me. Always a balance between the dream house and quality of life issues/journey time issues. Hope you settling in well. Sty away from equities and spend the money on the house.
All goes well here, a few issues but now all sorted. We've had vluations and they are way ahead of where we thought they'd be so all the delays haven't been in vain.
Sorry have to cut this short, bathrroms arriving..LOL. Hope all is well with both you and our Filly.
Take care CM and good luck to all holders.
BT
Buying opportunity now as it has retraced since your overbought comment. I think this one has legs and worth studying to see if you can call when this one will turn as profit takers have moved in after a strong rise. I will certainly will be adding here.
This looks like a company that is ripe for a takeover, it wouldn't surprise me to see a bid coming this year.
Yes excellent update and despite the rise I think there is more to come here. It will be worth watching to see if there is strength into the close. Faltering a little as I type but only to be expected after the jump. Must surely be worth 650p to 700p as we move through the year.
A brilliant update today. Looks like a good year for GBG and success for its global ambitions.
Good evening folks. Just touching base so to speak, checking how you are.
I have been out of the stock market completely since November last year when GBG was at 518p. This is pretty much the first time since then that the share price has risen above what I sold out at at the time. Good to see for you folk still invested. It may well rise further and may even hit an all time high given time, subject to what will (eventually) happen over Brexit (will it EVER be over?) and what Trumpty Dumpty may do or say or imply etc., etc.
It is extremely doubtful that I will return to the stock market in anywhere near the near future. I have taken all my funds out due to being in the process of moving house. It's all in the hands of the solicitors now. I knew all along that I was likely to need to find the funds from my investments to be able to move due to the vast difference from what I would receive for my present humble property to anything else. Should you be interested BT I decided against the converted barn due to the commute, my enthusiasm was ahead of the reality and have gone with my head and not my heart. I have ended up going for the first property I looked at in Penrith, still some distance from work but not much further than what I have to travel now.
Hope all is well with all................including K9s.
Regards and good luck
CM
The management team at GB are exceptional and due diligence would have been more thorough than most. GB can extract much more value out of this US acquisition. Back to over £6 within 3 months. Target £7 by year end IMO
Morning All,
Doze, I understand yr concerns, acq's are always a bit of a gamble but I don't see any major problems here. IDology have been in business for 15 years and the major directors have been on board for most of that time. 15 yrs is a long time for a tech business so I don't worry too much about their solutions being immature or untested. I can't find any numbers for prior yrs but I haven't really searched too hard...no time atm. It's a big deal for GBG and that of course brings a lvl of uncertainty but overall I am very happy with this and look forward to seeing how it moves forward,
CM, glad to hear that our thoroughbred and you are in good shape. We had the same dilemma yrs ago when I changed jobs. We looked at moving but decided to stay put. This meant a longer/more difficult commute but we felt the life balance was worth it...we have loved living here for 35 yrs. You have to decide whether the balance the barn offers is right... no one but you can make that decision but it does sound great from what you've said. Gd luck.
Weather bloody great here atm..for the time of year..12 degrees...our postie is into his shorts already...there's a downside to everything...LOL and looks good thru to end of month. We've had some snow and a couple of cold weeks but nothing like last year, which was long, cold and miserable. Just keep an eye on Mum, great that she has so many good friends around her but there are a lot of colds around.
All good here and I hope all stays well with you my friend.
CARPO I aplogise for not replying to yr post, with the acq rns I missed it. I would echo what CM has said, there are various sites out there that tell you what to do in much better detail than we can. The only point I would add is to ask whether you have actually ever had the share cert, because these days they are all digital and I haven't seen one for very many years. You shouldn't actually need the 'paper' now and I don't believe you ever did as a proof of ownership but as I say there are numerous sites online that show you what to do.
Have to go, guys take care and CM good luck with the move &
Best wishes
BT
I must confess it makes me nervous splurging on a young company with a hip name and just three years of good figures (easily massaged and propects of maintaining performance slim?). However I think for GBG to grow the international reach and dominant position will be required and it helps to improve the expertise.
You're welcome. I'm sure you will get it sorted. You won't be the first to have lost a share certificate and won't be the last. These things may seem rather daunting initially but taken step by step it will work out.
Regards
CM
Good evening BT, good to hear from you as usual.
Puppies settling down after a year?, some chance!. My friends' border collie is just as lively at one year old. Has to be the centre of attention. Bit of a thug (loveable) at times but no malice in him whatsoever.
Thanks for asking about Red Rum. She has a problem at the stables, leaking tank upstairs causing some damage. I think she has someone dealing with it. I phoned this evening and will again tomorrow; didn't want her to say too much before she went to bed, didn't want her to be worked up and not sleep. If necessary I will shoot South. I have a visit planned for 2 weeks time. At 92 little things are difficult for her. Fortunately she has some good friends and helpers around her.
Good luck with the house. Hope there is no Beast from the East, nor a Pest from the West.
Had some deep snow on the hills here recently, knee and thigh deep when I was out, total white out, sleet stinging face and walking on a compass bearing to take me to a wall down to a col and then down into the valley. Oh the fun of it all!........not!.
I have had an offer on my house today, gulp!. I have found a great property, a converted detached barn. Only concern is it is some distance away and would mean a longer and more difficult commute to work. Right property, right time, right price (really!!!).....just not necessarily enough in the right location. Need to have another look, stop over in the area perhaps and dummy runs to work etc. Big decision to make.
Take it easy my friend. Regards and to Mrs. BT too. Watch those puppies.
