Falkland Islands reports another record squid catch: A record squid catch in the seas off the Falkland Islands has led to a 14% jump in profits at Falkland Islands Holdings. For those investors that don’t want to take the high-risk oil exploration route, these shares are another way to play the oil rush: shares in Falkland Island Holdings should benefit as it owns and operates property and shops on the South Atlantic islands. The business is an unconventional mix as it includes the Momart fine art logistics business based on the mainland U.K. Momart is the leading company in the U.K. for transporting and installing art for exhibitions. But a slightly lower number of big shows meant revenue fell 16.5% to £15.8 million and pretax profits slumped by 31.5% to £1.21 million. The company said it has now also sold its residual holding of 5 million shares in the oil exploration group Falkland Oil and Gas (FOGL) for a profit of £400,000. In the 11 years since the flotation of FOGL the company has made more than £8 million from selling the shares at a total profit of £5 million. The shares therefore offer no income at the moment and trading on 11 times forecast earnings are only for the brave until the oil starts flowing. Falkland Islands Holdings at 257.5p unchanged. Questor Says “Hold”.
Disgraceful indeed, unreliable management who scrap the company's dividend for no valid reason , disgruntling many shareholders with double pain of sp drop.
this is a disgrace
Div reinvests,a bit more activity on here today,in other words some trades for a change. Spread awful but any positives in the explorers should feed in nicely.
spooky indeed.
Indeed, see you back at base camp!!! On topic, the reason I've got a few of these is that if any of the FI ones ever come good,so will these but in a somewhat more steady way. GLA.
