Reached a 20% drop from that recent 577p high and bounced once it dropped below that, of 458p
needs 25% gain to get back to that 577p
is that 20% drop what the market was aiming at?
If some of you think this is a cycle and gets sold off during the summer months why are you ‘buying all the way down’ ? just wait till near end of summer and buy then if you think that way
So if Stelios loaned his stock to BoA he would not have to declare it. Dirty games. Stick
"...the summer looks set for a substantial increase on last year. H2 set for £1bn profit with the main driver being the holiday business. "
I think that is true, but the market tends to see some risks in terms of the operation all going smoothly during the summer.
EZJ have taken the customers money but have yet to deliver the product. The market is pricing in some risks ( most out of the BOD control) that may hamper the summer operation... IMO
Sunnyd exactly.
I suspect that the new CEO, being a detailed figures man will drill deep into every aspect of the business and pull out a number of savings to boost the margins ..
He knows that they have to be absolutely RUTHLESS with costs like RyanAir is ...
Considering the size of the whole airline operation the final profit per seat flown isnt actually huge, it purely depends on the volume of seats taken up, and there are always risks to the operation
It will go a lot higher. This current situation is nonsense. Ryanair are in minor difficulty and won't hit their targets this year. easyJet will and Ryanair are one of the victims of that. easyJet will increase market share this year.
In this quarter easyJet will make around £250m profit as they ramp up into summer.
Jet fuel prices are very stable, the summer looks set for a substantial increase on last year. H2 set for £1bn profit with the main driver being the holiday business.
Fundamentally the easyJet situation should have this well above £6 right now. I just see it as an organised run on the shares and gamblers jump on the back of that. The scenario is exactly the same as October 23. Good performance, good results and the share price crushed by 90p. I hope nobody thinks that this is an organic process. Big money plays with us small investors.
I just see it as a gift and I have added £44000 on the way down. It's how it is like it or not. It won't break easyJet just those who take the loss.
Keep it real and don't get sucked in. easyJet fundamentally are very strong.
" Having an accountant now running this business has not gone down well with The City, this is why the shares are in freefall. "
The guy does not take over until early 2025 so the market is not fixing anything on what he does or does not do.
The market may well put risk on at a later stage during his first quarter or until he delivers his strategy and targets but, today...well there are other issues out there to put risk against ...IMO
Jarvis worked for TUI
(TUI1n.DE), opens new tab
, Europe's largest travel operator, for more than 17 years, starting in 2003 in a finance director role, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He then held various positions, eventually becoming CFO of tourism and CEO of the aviation division.
That experience running a combined travel and airline business has served Jarvis and current CEO Lundgren, another TUI alumni, well as they developed easyJet's profitable holidays business.
Jarvis joined easyJet in 2021 and played a key role in crafting its current strategy.
The company credited him in helping to secure additional capacity - something airlines across the world have struggled to do as manufacturing challenges and delivery delays hamper plane producers.
"Kenton played a principal role in negotiating the most recent aircraft order, securing extremely competitive pricing and certainty in aircraft supply from 2028 onwards," easyJet said in a statement.
Kenton Jarvis, easyJet's next CEO?
He's not just an accountant.

Ianfm, of course it will rise..they take it down to where a lot of Pi's sell at a loss then they make it go higher again...rinse and repeat. So obvious. This is a company making good money in the financial year..and the busy summer months are here now..GLA.
Likewise, bought a chunk at 491 thinking it was a good deal. Then again at 477. Ah well, i have confidence that it will increase again sometime
@deepjoy late May2019 ezj tanked for no reason so back you up on that
Having an accountant now running this business has not gone down well with The City, this is why the shares are in freefall.
Too conservative, will stifle growth, the City is out on this
Why make 5% when i can make a lot more here..and St james take 5% commission a year...ohhh boy, i know that. Instead i found an investment that gives me quite a bit...plus all the tax loopholes that Great Britain has. Hahahaha. But thanks for your advice. Then when i am ready, i can retire somewhere sun ny!!!!
Last time I checked 91 out of 97 analysts reckon ECB will cut rates at its next meeting. If that happens then might make a UK rate cut more likely on 20 June.
Sund
If you have as much money as you would like people to believe shpuldnt you just put ot into st james place and make circa 5% a year
Relax peeps ... this company has a share cycle. One look at the chart will tell you that. It has been sold off in the summer months for a few years now which makes it the perfect time to buy for summer figures later in the year. Its a no-brainer if you not a trader and prepared to wait more that a week... I am buying all the way down as we go.
No obsession with spreadbetting..i have a few friends who buy buy but can't afford it and then they lose coz they close their positions, no money..and then they repeat..thats why i only buy shares and never spreabet..but each to their own if they want to lose their trousers!!!! This volatility is good for me as I have dry powder..lets wait and see where we are at the end of summer..surely a lot higher. DYOR.
Yep frustrating took months to get a years high and a week to lose it . Oh well
Not sure why airline stocks are not in favour.
Just landed in Milan and the flight was packed and the tickets were not exactly cheap even though I bought them a good while is advance.
I am heavy IAG but was considering diversifying a bit but ‘O Boy’ am I glad o stayed put.
Hope you guys get some respite soon, this is painful to watch even sat on the fence.
That's what i am on my Vodka
@ Stille no bikini strap lines on your return :-)
Sund
Whats the obsession youhave with spread betting recently
Have you just found out what it is or something
It will go up again. Don't sell when it drops like this. I personally just add more.
I was on 4 inter European flights this month and the flights were full andevery airport was full no mattter time of day. I live on Spain and during the 1st quarter they had a record number of tourists and the majority fly here. I don't see a price war happening, rather the opposite based on my own experience.
Profit taking, tree shaking..it can also go up 20-30 pence in a couple of days, lets not forget that. we would be back at £5..this is normal for a stock, airline to lose 20% before going up 30%...they transfer money from the impatient and those who sadly cannot afford spreadbetting to the patient..
