Best of luck, Stuartv.
Thanks, George! Please come and run AMER if they takeover there fails (as I hope it will).
Cue, Nina Simone: “it’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new liiiife...”
Good bye to all on the ELA board. I have enjoyed the insights and the banter. Just sold out today so that’s me done. Good luck to all with your other investments. Thankyou George and the team at Eland you’ve been good to me.
It has all gone a bit quiet, so I’m assuming the Elcrest issue has gone away. Fat lady sings a week on Tuesday (17th). Well done to the many profit-makers. I wish I’d got in a bit earlier!
With this and AMER (angry grrrrr!) closing out imminently I’m looking for new homes for a decent chunk of change: should keep me busy on cold, dark nights...

I sold at 164 after collecting dividend.
Won't be very happy if this deal doesn't go through, as I wolds of held.
Made a nice profit, but feel there is more to be made if this deal doesn't go through.
Good luck to all still holding
Totally agree with you Caution. Always pleased with a profit as I have been with Eland for a few years. But totally relaxed if the deal fell through. Bearing in mind the potential going forward I think at £1.66 it is undervalued. Here’s hoping. GLA
Thank you, Ross. This is clearly highly significant. Personally, I wouldn't be very upset if the deal didn't go through and we just went back to the the pre-bid operational situation. Sadly, once the cat is out of the bag on these things, that hardly ever happens.
Thanks, jansonb. I’m very surprised if the Elcrest RNS has affected the price. I’d buy some myself if it wasn’t tied up in other things (AMER and PDL for instance!): this looks like an easy few percent profit.
Sold today at 163 - prefer to get my cash working again. Cybertech companies looking interetsing. Help ISPY for some time now and growing nicely but a number of dedicated US firms look attractively low priced, e.g. Crowdstrike. If Brexit deal comes off I think UK mid-caps will do well with strengthening of pound and overall climate for investment and trade. Lloyds and RBS already made big gains.
Hi Gus not sure if you already hold but I am putting my faith in LEK. Still a couple of loose ends to tie up but if they come together it will fly. See a similar situation as experienced by Eland 3 years ago. Could be wrong but if I am right lots of money to be made. WD -40. like your good self hopefully a smooth transition. Seeing all the sells making me nervous that I need to do something. Company sale completely new territory for me. GLA
I'm buying Bae systems next. I'm just waiting for them to drop in price some more.
Might buy ABF.
Are you still holding eland? I'm really hoping this will just be sorted smoothly (without any action from myself)
So a good run comes to an end. Leaves me with one question: What should my next buy be? Whilst I shall put some into a safe fund, I shall want to find another high-gain ladder to jump onto. Any suggestions for consideration?

Good bye and good luck to you Hughes. Never know our paths may cross again on one of the other bb’s
Been great fun knowing you all on the Eland chat. Hope to see some of you soon on other chat pages. Sold out yesterday for the last time over many years. Actually have tears in my eyes to see Eland being taken over. Good luck to you all and happy future dealings

Much appreciated gozain I had a similar question buzzing around in my head. You’ve kindly answered. Take care and good luck.
The will eventually disappear from your portfolio and cash will be in when the takeover completes. I would recommend not selling before 18/10/19 as all shareholders still holding by that date are entitled to a 1p per share dividend. In my case, I will just leave until I get the full 166p plus the dividend. Not in a rush to cash out.
What's with all the automated trades?
What happens if I don't sell my shares?

It says in the post in the share news that anyone holding at the close of 18th October will get the dividend.
Just a quick question. If I just leave my shares in my HL account. What will happen to them?
Will I just get the cash equivalent I. E. 166p per share?
Would I get charged a transaction fee from eland or HL themselves... As I would be charged to sell usually.
Shame this was taken out, but with the constant threat of the NDA and falling oil prices, maybe not such a bad outcome. Purchased shares here (and held) at 28p and then topped up in the 30's, 40's and 80's, so a decent payout awaits. Also, this has been one of the most respectful BB's I have visited with knowledgeable posters (without being arrogant) sharing good information in all situations, for novice shareholders like myself. And course thanks to George and all the ELA team for delivering what they promised, growth, dividends and performance.
As I am a novice investor, and without wishing to look greedy - are we still getting the dividend at the end of the month?
Good luck to all shareholders in future investments
Very helpful, thanks v much. Seems sensible to hold, except Lloyds and RBS looking very attractive in case of Brexit deal .... cash would be handy to buy in now! :) Either way, having bought in at 60p, even having sold twice in last year for cash, I am well up. Can't complain.
Quoted from share cast news;
'It said that under the terms of the acquisition, each Eland shareholder would be entitled to receive 166p in cash for each Eland share'.
Does this mean I could buy more at say 163.8p and be guaranteed to get 166p per share in return?
My advice is hold, you will be entitled to the 1p divi a5 the end of the month, you are guaranteed £1.66 by the Seplat offer, as per Rns this will be sorted by end 2019, they will convert all your shares into cash, then deposit the amount in your account. Eland as a company will cease, all agreements rights and licenses will be owned by Seplat, I’m not too sure when the d day is or what happens to the cash amount profit that eland has already made, does it not get divided up in favour of us shareholders I don’t know, hope this helps. Kind regards H.
So, good news all around. But for those of us who have never been in this situation before, should we sell now or is the price likely to rise over coming months? If not, they are sold automatically by the end of the year? Do we have an option to keep them? Thanks for any advice.
Last post: cautionyourblast, 15 Oct 2019 09:52
I think they're getting a bargain.
Hold or sell?
166pps all agreed with Seplat . Nice

I would really welcome some objective, informed insights. I assume that the markets simply don't want to buy because of risks
Thanks for replying, Nickel. Some fairly hefty sells going in today....but the fundamentals and forward guidance (from the house broker, I assume) make this thing look stupidly undervalued to me.
2019 PE 4.25; 2020 PE under 3. Trivial debt pile. Strong management team. Revenue growing like the clappers.
I'd welcome any comments to the downside for balance (and hope we don't get the usual drama queens ranting about someone being a "deramping" (not even a real word) troll - some of the posters on these bulletin boards are appalling).
Don’t know I’m afraid .
This weakening now not just to oil but because the buybacks have completed
Very quiet day yesterday I guess the market is just waiting for news of the additional 5,000 barrels from Gb 4 to come on line in October. Can’t fault Eland for hedging on the scale of the overall production it’s not massive 645,000 bps. The decision will have been time when oil prices looked to potentially fall off a cliff (and made for sound budgetary control reasons). In fact every they do is well thought out and planned. A bit like a Volvo with a Cosworth engine lol. Good luck fellow LTH’s.
When (or indeed after what volume has been fulfilled) does the hedge expire, Mr Ni? Any idea. Thanks.

I’m on a couple of other boards (where I’m also invested) and the chit-chat is properly hectic.
Look at Eland though:
Trailing 12 months PE of 5.3 projected PE on 2019 results of 4.2, 2020 under 3: chicken oriental.
Price below book value.
Little debt.
Growth assets.
Quality management.
This coiled spring is hiding in plain sight.
DYOR, but I’m tempted to buy more (despite my fairly large position and being long up the wazoo in AMER, another oiler).
End Oct dividend likely to be about 0.78%? Is that right? Seems v small for such a healthy company. Have I missed something? Without higher dividends and delivery of anticipated higher SP, why does everyone hang on?

My favourite stock right now is DGOC on AIM a very well run USA gas producer.
ELA is also a promising company.
Some may see a small Nigerian Oil company as risky, however my Norwegian (Equinor) USA DGOC and Canadian Encana shares also carry risk if a Left Wing, CO2 obsessed, anti capitalist, anti oil company, government gets in!
Very quiet on this board these days being an old git remember there loads of chat on this board back in the day lol. Held ELA for over three years admittedly there have been few bumps along the way but it has always delivered. Back in the day ELA even had to do a placement to fund Opuama drilling campaign. Look at us now Op exploited and we have moved on to Gb. Company investing in a new pipeline to service Gb. Fortunately unlike the early days less worries was trouble in the Delta. As promised they have rewarded investors (in a prudent way) with a dividend . Looking forward to Amoebe exploration well and future drilling prospects within their license. To investors history suggests this share in never gonna deliver quick rewards. Everyone knows share trading can be risky (and I am into a few) particularly on the casino AIM. However ELA is as safe as it gets. Keep up the good work George Maxwell. Roll on Gb5 results.

Maiden interim dividend declared of 1 pence per share representing an approximately $2.6 million return to shareholders. The dividend will be payable on 31 October 2019 to shareholders on the register at the close of business on 18 October 2019
· Ongoing share buyback programme increased by a further £3.0 million on 20 March 2019 to a maximum of £6.0 million. Since commencing the Programme in November 2018 Eland has purchased 4,363,573 shares at a cost of £5.3 million, representing an average price of approximately 120 pence per share
When should we expect the first div?
Well regardless of the net debt figure, which seems to be due to infrastructure investment, the market seems to like it, highest sp for about 3 months, looking forward to first divi, the first of many.
Welcome back Hughes:-))
Glad I bought back in yesterday :-)

That's exactly what I thought too...
Why are they using this useless rig which is always having problems when there must be loads of idle rigs at the moment.
What do we think about the 1p divided?
Hi Allesandro I saw a mention of this in a previous RNS. I think they said approx Sept 12th.
Has Eland announced the results for this week or is it projected based on the previous years' timings?
And let’s not forget the Dividend - which i’ve just done :-))
First half results due out this week. Hopefully more positive news. Really need a great story to get Eland motoring. Looking forward to hearing about drilling progress and possibly more movement on the suggested 2nd rig acquisition. Fingers crossed. GLA

Sure, it is. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any substance at lying behind it. Stuartv seems to have dispelled any such worries :) Thanks. Still a mystery to me why there is not more demand for this stock, seeing as virtually all metrics look healthy, both now and for the future. Is it just the risk factor of oil/Nigeria? In which case it'll be dividends to look forward to rather than SP.
Just read that Daily Post article.
It's incoherent drivel.
Surprised this is still holding up here.
I would expect to buy back at about 113 - 115. Have bought and sold these shares for many years and they always bounce back. It is a very solid company with a strong asset base, but is unloved for some obscure reason.
How low are you expecting it to go?

Wrong CEO - Not Les but George M
Wrong OML - Not 17 but 40
Wrong Loan Collateral - Actual production not reserves.

100,000 share buy just gone thro. Clearly they don’t believe the de-ramping work of fiction mentioned below. This share always delivers. Held for 3 years and doubled my investment. Onwards and upwards. Looking to announcement of dividend and Amoebe prospect.

Don’t begrudge you George you are doing a first class job as CEO. Just thinking with your share options every penny rise is approx £48 for family coffers. Mind boggling. Keep up the good work.

Must say I am looking forward to tomorrow and a big upward bounce in the SP (always live in hope) Mrs V is a spendaholic who thinks money grows on trees. Please please ELA????
Hey LUCKCOUNTS, been with this share on and off for about 5 years. It is loved when there is bad news and hated when there is good news. Just waiting for the next bout of bad news to come along so I can sell a few then buy back on good news :-). Maybe Ebola will be our next saving grace LOL.
To much to hope for ( no oil in Ameobe) £3 a share here we come. I can only dream. Good night off to bed now.
No Luck we want some bad news. Good news seems to depress the SP (just don’t get it). Come on Avengers do your worst and roll on £2 per share.
Totally get where where your coming from Luck. Like me and Hughes L your still holding the faith. I remember the Op drilling campaign little or no movement frustration the order of the day. All of a sudden it shoots up. Fundamentals are brilliant. Gb on line now and more good news to come. Not so long ago this share was an a-rae clincher but fortunately the Delta is quiet (at least for now). Looking forward to the dividend and Am exploration well. As Derek Trotter says “ this time next year” GLA. P.S love this board but sleep more visiting son overseas.

I was under the impression that the above will bring the total rig count to 3. Probably just me but today’s RNS read as if ELA “only” has 2. Maybe GM meant a second additional rig ??
