The will eventually disappear from your portfolio and cash will be in when the takeover completes. I would recommend not selling before 18/10/19 as all shareholders still holding by that date are entitled to a 1p per share dividend. In my case, I will just leave until I get the full 166p plus the dividend. Not in a rush to cash out.
Cunir, I think is overoptimistic to think anyone would pay just 15% off the ticket price for a VR experience. Thats way to expensive for a £60+ show. I sincerely doubt anyone would pay more than £20 for attending a concert in VR (and I still think its overpriced at that price). Yeah its a promising area and i believe it will work but people that pay good money for the big shows do it cause it involves the whole experience of seeing your favourite band live with everything that involves doing that. Think of it as paying PPV on big fight days. Yeah you may pay over £20 for the fight but you will invite all your friends and make a day out of it not £20 per person that sits in their living room.
I totally agree with Chilston here. Everyone is assuming that because VR is the next big thing (which I agree to), then Music in VR shall de facto succeed. MVR might be Impressive if its the first VR taste you have but if you have tried gaming and other interactive experiences then you will rapidly realise MVR is not as immersive as you originally thought and it provides quite a mediocre VR experience.
I also agree in Chilston's concerns about the social aspect of music concerts. I wonder how many people pay for a ticket to a gig and go by themselves and sit isolated inside the venue. I do not see many lonely gig goers at all. Gigs and festivals is all about sharing the moment, drinking, getting in with the crowd, etc... so assuming this will replace the other or would serve as an alternative for sold out shows, I would say think twice.
yes new generations are hooked to their mobiles and communicate in different ways, hence you see them all in gigs documenting stuff with their phones to share and brag that they were there instead of actually enjoying the moment. However, I cant imagine many youngsters taking selfies with their VR headsets sitting in their living rooms #BestGigEver!! #YOLO
VR will be huge in gaming, porn, education, and other interactive experiences which use VR alongside physical situations. But assuming music will follow this just because might not be the best idea.
"plus a generic headset that fits my phone" (facepalm)
Seems that you are blindly trusting and investing on a technology you don't understand if I have to explain the difference between Gear VR and having the content available on Android and iOS devices (no headset).
I don't really get how everyone is so positive about access on iOS and Android. Has anyone seen any 360 video on your mobiles? It is not a great experience at all. I do not see many paying the prices MVR is asking for their videos to experience them on a mobile or tablet. Yes, this share relies on headsets hitting the mass market. However everyone is assuming the mass market will be amazed with the app so every headset owner will be buying concerts from MVR on a regular basis... I dunno... I love new technologies, but as it stands, I dont see this one taking off any time soon. Maybe once their videos are stereoscopic and 8K, the headset tech is on UHD/HDR equivalent and their prices are massively reduced.
As an addition, it took MVR support over 2 months to reply to a question I made on their "support" email, so the client support is also very bad atm...
@Jimmy_Stocks @Robidicus Yeah i agree the World Cup VR is not replacing tv anytime soon. I just wanted to prove the point that way better quality videos are already out there. Other users were saying that MVR low quality was due to network and headset specs which is clearly not the case. Its true that VR is on early stages and both, headsets and capturing equipment will only get better. World Cup VR is obviously just a taste, but comparing the feeling i got when i tried MVR only a month ago to what i got with the BBC FREE app, it was a definitely WOW for me. @WhatShares, true i have not made my complete research, but i have definitely seen some MVR footage with only 2 stitch lines quite noticeable. I suppose their early recordings or some view points might have been done with other cheaper equipment? Any-who, with this i finish my opinion on this App. Wish you all the best. I will definitely keep monitoring the app and see if I get back on EVRH once the product convinces me. PEACE OUT!
@Hobbit01 I have to disagree on your assumption that it is 8K recorded. The content they are releasing now is definitely not recorded on "professional-grade" equipment. You can tell by the stitch lines in the video that reveal they used a two lens 360 camera which is now a days equipment anyone can buy relatively cheap. I have an InstaONE 360 that have better quality for the cost of a GoPro. @Teccles yes, considering they used old/low spec equipment, the content is already compressed upon being recorded so what you see there is pretty much the same raw file maybe compressed a little bit more but shall not affect quality so badly. Think of a UHD Blu ray and a UHD Netflix movie. The difference is barely noticeable even after heavily compressed to be streamed (60/1 compression) @EVERYONE If you want to compare with good quality VR videos being recorded in proper equipment and that in this case the headset hardware indeed plays a part on the experience, check BBC's Sports World Cup VR (ITS FREE). Tried it just yesterday on Oculus Go and... WOW! here you can see that the technology is pretty much there and you can blame the headset in this case. Its just not complete 360, but who wants to see the crowd faces behind you anyway?
@BrownAdder I dont expect a Ferrari. However, when you can get Audis or Mercedes for free (youtube) and you are trying to sell me a used Ford Ka I say "no thanks" LOL If a $299 360 camera makes better recordings... i mean, that should say it all. Any comments on the total lack of customer service? Is that also how big successful companies start? Again, I do believe it might take off, hence i was a shareholder until i tried the app. Was not impressed with the product nor the service provided at least at launch.
Sorry, My bad on PSVR. Got my apps confused. In any case, PSVR headset has lower resolution display, so I would not expect headset will make any difference. Its the content.
Teccles you definitely have no idea what you are talking about. I have tried the app on iOS, Oculus GO and PSVR, on a strong stable connection. This is not youtube style on which the quality adapts to network speed. Glad to hear they have tried high spec cameras. Sad to empirically know their current content is poor and will more likely continue to be so until they have released all the content they recorded with poor equipment so far. I agree that the potential is there, and will probably be successful, Im just appalled to see their launch offering and total lack of customer service and support so I would probably stay clear until the actual product convinces me.
@WhatShares Glad Im not the only one thinking the quality is bad. Totally agree in recording in stereoscopic that would be wicked!! But maybe too much to ask when they are not even recording on good resolution with low light capable cameras. @BrownAdder I know technology improves but its not as simple as a touch of a button when all your material recorded so far (which they claim is thousands of hours worth of it) is on a poor quality. The problem here is that technology has been out there for a while so they are way behind of what is available. You can see better quality VR music content for free on YouTube right now. Have you tried it yourself? If you are not on the view points on stage or first row, you can not even tell whats going on on stage because it is so poor quality. You only see blurry spots... Even the up-close view points are quite bad. The fact that they are the only app doing what they are doing does not mean they will succeed. Anyone who has tried VR will not feel the WOW!! feeling with this app on launch. On this day and age, you need that first impression WOW!! to really hook the audience in. Their current content should be free with such quality, then make premium recordings paid for.. Things move too quick now, you cannot afford cocking up at launch or the next guy will take your idea and actually make it work. I think this has superb potential, but you will be hearing bad news on their expected targets before this becomes profitable. I expect they will run out of cash and will need additional funding before that happens.
I had high hopes on this one. However, as an early adopter of VR (Ive had a PSVR since launch) and a massive tech enthusiast, I was well disappointed with this app and the non-existent support for it. If some one here has tried good quality VR content would know that the quality of the videos provided on Melody VR are quite bad. You can get 360 cameras for less than 300USD that will outperform the video quality of the ones provided on the app. They should have really invested on professional grade 360 cameras (8K+). They are expecting you to pay £10+ for a blurry/pixelated 360 video. I hope they will eventually release better quality videos, but in my opinion, they are burning their launch and first impressions with the current released material. I wont be expecting any good news about their launch targets. To top all of that, any contact I tried to make with their support team via the app, email, twitter, etc.. has been left unanswered... Terrible start in my opinion.
