Another ‘What the Heck’?
Up to 155 then a drop to 140. I bought in another 3 lots of shares today for my ISA - 3489, 3489, 2120. All were registered as sales, why?
My average was 143 with costs and I’ll get the ex-divi on 12 Jan ˜ £160.
I'm an LTH from 2017 but I can't understand why the sudden change in price and what this means.
Ps. Happy New Year & thanks for all the info/chat on here, I do enjoy it.
A non-exec appointment and no obvious trades driving it, so what's occurring?
Name changes very rarely result in a positive share price. No, cant think of one thats had winner written all over it. Pity I used to hold this share in high esteem, now I'm ambivalent.
I see that Australia has agreed a price cap on natural gas and is about to do the same for coal. Anybody know if this is going to affect ECOR?
Thanks for the link to the presentation.
I personally think that concern over the near term outlook given the drop off from kestrel income is having an effect on the current shareprice. Say what you like about the morality of met coal, but kestrel has really dominted the portfolio. I like the copper aquisitions - but there is a bit of a gap between kestrel income decreasing and anything coming in from those. Piaui is also attractive, but again in the very near term it's not likely to be contributing much. be nice to see them aquire something sizeable and already producing, but obviously also hopefully at a good price.
I sold half my holding at £1.80(actually mainly only because I got annoyed that I twice sent the company some questions which they completely ignored), but it's given me a very low average on the holding I have left. I do think the outlook from 2025 is good, but we still need to get there. I may consider adding on weakness though.
I didn't know they were changing the dividend to be $ denominated.

One other thing, China appears to be easing off covid lock down restrictions, opening up their economic activity further. That is bound to create demand for raw materials over the next month or three. ECORA's mining royalties are all over, but the destination for a lot of the commodities is China.
I agree, the portfolio dynamics for ECOR in the medium/long term are compelling. I've added more in the low 140's and I'll continue to add if it falls further.
Even more undervalued now. The price movement here has been very surprising I have to admit. There seems to be no rational reason for the drop.
Weirdly, and I accept this is a bit of a conspiracy theory, a lot of the trades on ECOR are bot based Automatics. I do wonder if the name change has skewed the bot algorithms. Social media listening and web sentiment scraping feed into the bot algorithms, and with very little web noise apart from complaints on the name change the sentiment on ECOR would appear to be negative. It's the bots that are selling this down, and I don't think the new branding and growth strategy has picked up enough recognition to over ride them yet. When was the last time you saw an unequivocally positive post or news article on ECOR? Mad but possibly true.
However, in the Q3 trading update we got this from Marc Bishop Lafleche, Chief Executive Office of Ecora:
"The South32 royalty portfolio acquisition has positioned copper, nickel and cobalt at the centre of Ecora's commodity exposure with the Company poised to benefit from a strong fundamental demand outlook over the next decade.
We expect a strong finish to the year with key commodity prices underlying our portfolio currently in excess of average Q3 price levels. As a permanent source of capital to the mining sector, we are well positioned to respond to opportunities which may present themselves as a result of challenging market conditions"
I'm buying on the basis of that statement, and because I expect a bit of a santa rally on this with the next xd on the 12th Jan, and because it has been sold down by dumb ass bots.
I realise this is not very productive from me giving you this information. However, I do enjoy reading your discussions and I hope in this quiet spell you'll be able to talk about ECOR to enable me to learn even more.

Hi Cacher here's the link and I realise it's not about APF, whoops sorry, ECOR but I do feel the comments are related to us.

I too am not over-keen on the name as it seems just lost with many others. If you do a search for the company using ECOR it picks up lots of other rubbish. Maybe it's just me being an LTH since 2017 when I used to read Buzz's comments every day about the price of coal etc and how he recommended APF.
Nick2723, do you have a link to this Proactive Mining note?
Not really a great deal to discuss at the moment. ECOR gearing up to be the go-to royalty and streamer in the battery metal space. Now is the time for the company to be putting together the portfolio. Debt expensive for developers and producers, and equity raises at depressed valuations isn't attractive. Plenty of opportunities for ECOR to take advantage. I'm in agreement with Marc and many other market participants - in that by the end of this decade the battery metal space, and the supply/demand metrics for many of these commodities is going to look vastly different, and picking up deals will be a lot more expensive.
Agree they could have chosen a better name to reflect the royalty and streaming model, but it is what it is.
In the Proactive mining highlights 26/11/22 there is a statement. Note I'm not publicising the company here!
???? is the best pick in the mining sector heading into 2023, according to Deutsche Bank, which expects a shortage of battery metals to come to a head over the next twelve months.
“There is not enough supply to meet future energy transition-related demand,” said the bank's analysts in a note, highlighting the group's cobalt division.
This statement is a very positive one for Ecora in 2023 and I hope the SP will pick up and get into the 180 - 230 soon.
Seems very low intrest in this share since the name change.
Added today as well. Breakout to 160’s made intentions clear. Steady uptrend in TA.
Good time to average up.
Just need the divi to go back up now!
Usual caveats

Someone snaffled up 30,000 this morning which is encouraging. Would be even better if it was a director buy though.
I have a similar strategy - but not on such a grand scale!
Bought a further 4000 in my ISA as I had some cash from recent divis in other shares. Will continue to add at sub 160 when I can. Good luck to all long term holders here.
To be honest, there isn't actually much of a rise. I've been watching because I am transferring some shares between accounts, and it's been at 161 - 155 all day. Seems to be the multitude of 1 share trades distorting things.
Nice rise today without any news.
Yes I agree with you. Hands down the cheapest royalty and streamer. Quite happy to continue to add whenever the opportunity arises.
SP will probably drift back after a week now dividends reinvested .....im taking cash......Atb
