Steve Jobs quote: http://www.forbes.com/sites/briancaulfield/2011/10/21/steve-jobs-on-tv-i-finally-cracked-it/ Connected devices: http://www.fiercetelecom.com/press-releases/worldwide-smart-connected-device-market-led-samsung-and-apple-grew-271-thir tarquinpike - I'm betting on Samsung, the world leader in TVs and smartphones, connectivity and Samsung's defenses. If Apple does "crack" the TV market Samsung must match, forcing Samsung's push into connectivity. Assuming Samsung pays DDD on a per unit basis and 3D is a general must have, Samsung will put DDD in all its devices. So will Sony, HTC, LG, Lenovo (existing customers) and most others. Currently DDD customers own about half of smartphone worldwide market share and IDC expects total volume to be >1B in 2013 ! These are huge numbers, especially for a midget company like DDD. (Key assumption - Samsung recently licensed DDD patents for use in its connectivity products ) This is how I see things. Yell if I'm off base.
Your research is a great deal better than mine, for which I salute you. To be honest though I can`t think of one share I currently hold apart perhaps with the exception of QPP that I would`nt take a %200 profit on if offered. You must have great expectations here?
DDD is 60% owned by various large sophisticated investors. I don't think one would get away with a lowball buyout play. My guess is that it would take a 200% premium to current price to get interest. I would be voting to not accept a 200% premium offer to current price. I would like to see what Samsung, Lenovo, Yabazam, LG etc. can do with a little more time in a connected devices market. I see a connected devices market as almost a requirement for the manufacturers to have interoperative 3D on their entire lines of smartphones, tablets, PCs and TVs. I see that as doubling or tripling DDD's market. DDD Group's potential is very big. I'd like to see run a bit before I sold out. Not for me to question your investment strategy, but surely if you stay in CEY until after the court case ( assuming the result is positive) youre going to double your money in no time. Sure you may do here but not so soon! Is a takeover so bad it usually results in a leap in sp?
Good move to buy CEY , i got mine at 39p ,i might stay just until the court case is over then back in here with the profits to lower my average :). This is a boring share to hold but think its quite a safe one to stash your money away in .Thats good news Rappahannock hopefull y DDD will get notice soon but i fear that as DDD is a small company that at some point it might be brought by one of the big boys
Took some earlier advice and moved in to CEY with my spare folding, nice to see some green on the screen. I may stay there for a while, seems like fun. Only want to get close to my buy in figure here, 26p! Dont mind a small loss if it has to be. Buy cant stand shares where all the news seems good but sp does`nt respond.
DDDGF ended at $.44 today up 41.94%. Granted that a bunch of it was catch-up with DDD.L but still a great move up on small volume. DDD is beginning (just) to get some notice.
Haha i didn't expect anything different, Did you get a little to excited there, if you did i suggest you look at what PLE are developing hehehe, I wouldn't be suprise now if DDD starts to drop slowly back down to 21-22p now.
short lived rally, wont be holding my breath!!!
Not for you of course, sorry you could`nt make the trade. Surely upbeat news for the sp though. Assuming it was not just a technical blip. Better luck tomorrow. There are bound to be day traders who`ve offloaded for a quick gain. Get in early.
This might be of interest to would be investors. Just tried to place an on-line order for 20,000 thru Barclays. Unable to trade this stock, came the reply. They cannot be running out of stock, surely?
Another few days of this we`ll all be dancing in the streets. Anyone wishing to send me a large slice of humble pie for my derogatory earlier comments, feel free.
the former posts on here...yes ive been a sufferer of the boardem as well, with very little news ( abeit all good)...hopefully now this is on the radar ( more broker recomendations) people will take a closer look
All sorts of witty replies come to mind but I`ll resist. Just looked up PLE. Not one I`ve come across (no pun intended).I`ll bear it in mind. Good luck at CEY. looks like tomorrow could be the day.
Very nice, seems a while since i've made that kind of profit on a share, Try looking at PLE they have developed a drug for premature ejaculation , and before you say anything its not something that i need ; ) . They are hoping to get the drug approved early this year. So if you invest there and they do get approval. you could find other things pointing up aswell lol
Sold up in Silverdell yesterday, nice little 23% profit. Not sure where to top up or buy
Got fingers and Toes crossed. DDD imo is a well run company that have delivered on everything they have said,so hopefully this exposure will send the SP above 30p where it should be. CEY results tomorrow so hoping to make a little profit there just in time to buy some more here and get my average down a little :)
Fingers crossed demos have the right result. Hope you`re cashing in over at CEY. Things seem to be happening there!
Los Angeles, California: DDD Group plc (AIM: DDD, OTCQX: DDDGY), the 3D solutions company, will host demonstrations of the latest TriDef powered 3D products in suites at the MGM Grand at the 2013 International CES, which opens today in Las Vegas. DDD will demonstrate the latest advances for the next generation of glasses-free tablets, including automatic 3D game conversion for popular Android games as well 2D to 3D conversion for photos and video. DDD will also demonstrate the new Yabazam Android App along with content from Yabazam, its 3D content label that is now available for PC, Smart TV, smartphones and tablets. The Yabazam App has been downloaded by over 180,000 customers of Samsung and LG 3D Smart TVs. Yabazam is a 3D content streaming service that offers a diverse range of originally made 3D programming, including movies, animations and music videos. DDD has provided Lenovo with Yabazam content to display on its B7 Windows 8 All-in-One PC at CES this week. Many of the world's biggest manufacturers of consumer electronics use DDD's TriDef solutions to enable 3D in their TVs, PCs and mobile devices and over 23 million TriDef 3D products have been shipped by DDD's licensees worldwide. Licensees include Samsung, LG, Sony, HP and Lenovo. TriDef 3D converts video, photos and games from 2D to 3D in real time. It allows more than 740 of the latest PC games to be played in stereoscopic 3D 'off the shelf', including over 100 popular Chinese titles. Most recently, DDD partnered with Hangzhou ShunWang Technology Co. Ltd., China's leading iCafe software provider, to bring 3D games to the sizeable internet café market in China.
Is there breaking news here that I dont know about? or has this turkey just finally woken up!
Thanks for the link, Lets hope this is a catalyst. Interestingly one of my other shares Amara mining has a link with Samsung (odd I know) who bankroll them in return for a monthly gold bung. All that cash to burn!!
Interesting Samsung article. Samsung is a tremendous partner for DDD. Who could be better patent licensee in a connected device world ? How many others will follow Samsung's 3D lead ? The future looks very good for DDD ! http://seekingalpha.com/article/1098181-samsung-the-fifth-horseman?source=yahoo
I take your point but sitting on a share for 2 years does`nt really appeal either in financial terms or enhancing my boredom threshold. A share regularly flagged by "Shares" as an exciting buy is like watching paint dry. I`ll take another look at CEY though. Risk doen`nt bother me half as much as boredom!
i agree tarquin this is not an exciting share to have, one to have and to forget about for a couple of years. Come and join me at CEY, might be a bit risky but alot more fun to watch and rewards will be good if the court case goes the right way IMO
DDD recently signed a patent licensing contract with Samsung. Oh yeh, Samsung is also the world leader in TVs. Samsung is also revving up tablets and PCs. DDD shareholders will someday be rewarded with a windfall if DDD can keep Samsubg happy.
