3 videos, with links to various papers. First 2 worried me slightly about aspects of our tech being superseded, but then at the end of the third I realised why Maxwell may be hiring the best lawyers in town to fight our patent infringement case.

I've been looking at solid-state recently. From the DT, "There remain some challenges to overcome with solid-state batteries. A suitable conductor is yet to be found that can match a liquid electrolyte effectively, while the costs are far greater than lithium-ion. “If a solid-state battery is really safe but really expensive then it's probably not going to appear in a mass market application for some time,” Brett says. Cheers for links. Look fwrd to viewing
you didn't watch the videos these have been worked on since 2006, expected first commercial use 2022.
OK thanks
If Tesla/Maxwell's solid state battery is as suggested basically a supercapacitor, that would explain the reason they are fighting CPX's patent.
It would help us all Patch6 if you could say on here why two of the videos had worried you slightly about the tech being superceded and then what overcame these worries in the third video to make you realise that Maxwell needed to fight the patent infringement cases.
This helps everyone to understand the technology particularly those shareholders who aren't technically minded. It helps us all to learn from each other. Also, not everyone has time to view three videos.
I, for one, would like to know your thoughts.
It seemed to me that a sodium based solid state battery with the equivalent power of todays lithium or even a lithium based solid state battery could be a replacement for many of todays supercapacitors.
It was the discussion about Legal teams in the previous thread and the similarities between batteries and capacitors, that got me wondering. Then at the end of the third video where the the solid state battery is described as a supercap.
If you are short on time just watch the last one.

in his attempts to spread gloom and despondency OPEN reminds us
"Posted 9 Nov by Monkey Wizard, Apologies would be nice
Also both Maxwell and Ioxus bringing in extra lawyers doesn't look good. Cooley LLP (Ioxus) have vast experience of defending patent cases and rarely lose. They have successfully defended the likes of Facebook. It looks to me these cases are going to be very drawn out now"
Why would Maxwell/Tesla join with Ioxus and bring in the best lawyers in the land to fight a patent from a small aim co worth £12m ?
Why hire a sledge hammer to crack a walnut?
Ioxus were selling batteries made up of supercaps
https://ioxus.com/english/products/ustart/
It seems from the videos linked earlier that Tesla's new solid state battery may well be made up of a lot of supercaps.
I could be adding 2+2 and getting 22, but somethings up.
Patch I don't intend to spread doom and gloom I just mention the possibility that we might loose the current patents case i.e. the result is not guaranteed. I have no technical evidence to support this except to say that nothing in life is guaranteed and a loss would not be good news.
I do know now though I have one advantage over people Power i.e. I do know how to spell SUPERSEDE. During my long and sad life I have won many a pint on betting on its spelling. Another good one is how many legs does a snooker table have. Most people will say 6. Please guys I have no ulterior motive just been here so many times before
I did watch the last one. Good detective work
I hope you did top slice OPENFAECES over at AFC...great viewing this morning hey ?
Just cant resist can you? All water off a dicks back. Oops sorry ducks
It would appear that Patch’s post indicates that the stakes in the two current cases are as high as they can be. Obviously if we win it will be a game changer but what would the result be if it goes against us?. Equally could the solution be a TO. Or perhaps the victor might choose to put us to the sword. I guess this will come down to the interpretation of words. And one should always remember what happened with David and Goliath. If AK is the victor he will be a hero.
Every court case/ challenge on any IP is always the same ..this one no different, and we've been aware of Maxwell for a year or two .same court as the others and we have so far set a precedent...always a risk with any company, however, I'd rather be on Cox side ...and I am :-)
CPX side .
Learnt a very good lesson a long time ago from one of my old bosses when someone said that's not what our lawyer said. He replied " If you're so sure of your case, on you go. Fifty percent of the lawyers in the world are wrong" Never forgotten it.
Another of life's lessons is to "pick your battles". I am sure however that what all SPs want to is to know the decision. In the meantime the SP will be subject to rumour and counter rumour
Superceded is the queens english, superseded is the American spelling. Most computers default to US English, looks like yours does too OPEN.
patch6 a different opinion but what the hell

In the future, it is hoped the supercapacitor will be developed to store more energy than a Li-Ion battery while retaining the ability to release its energy up to 10 times faster - meaning the car could be entirely powered by the supercapacitors in its body panels.
Tesla Founder Elon Musk has been quoted as saying ultracapacitors are the future of the electric vehicle market and will replace batteries in the longer term.
