Hope you're right jmak, but the fact that the likes of Balfour Beatty are happy to pick up these highways contracts from Costain suggests that they can make them work while Costain can't seem to. However, a little bounce back this morning.
Trying to read between the lines appears they have reacted to the loss of the highways management by reducing future work scope. This was most likely discussed with National Highways and it seems they have opted out of the smallest pie in terms of potential profit given the natural of procurmenet.
People appear not to be aware of the current industry and chronic lack of skills and contractors. There is more than enough work to go around those who try and rapidly expand or overstretch will be caught out quickly as their is limited capacity in the market.
Costain need margin improvement not an endless orderbook.
Here's hoping for a steady recovery, I was getting used to a rising SP, but today feels like we're back to the bad old days of 2020....
It's good to have the RNS out. Ordinarily this might be a buying opportunity, but management's past mistakes in pricing and executing contracts makes it hard to feel reassured.
Nicely put RNS but not sure how can it be positive.
Think the market will still take it down a bit but over time we will be fine.
Should recover now.
You would not want to be in this share over the weekend!!!
still in 62p
this will never come to my 62p. i have sold some with lose but cant ******* sell all in lose .
Possibly, although been an open secret for about a week - suspect it is the working of the article that has spooked investors in saying they have been dropped - implies it wasn't Costain choice and therefore must be a negative reason why.
Thanks for that link, slave. Presume this is what's dropped the share price this morning.

All is not well in the highways sector - the business now sees highways as too risky and not part of the central strategy of delivering consultancy work.
Also been told the RDP schemes in Newcastle are under financial pressure.
……I fear National Grid won’t award costain work for a generation …..Huntingdon and Peterborough?
Not now but I will invest more, timing again not sure bucket costain will have a huge bucket of work just timing on recession.
I still think a recession is coming, harder times for sure but I also read of billion pound contracts needed to change uk. National grid have issued for interest in 9.3 billion pounds contracts on offer. Utilities full stop, billions and billions.
Wow, nobody likes Costain today! Biggest faller around, on no news I can discern.
It isnt.

This was on the news last week. I am hopping this is not Costain . Just like we paid 45m to national grid.
Secret as a shareholder of Costain is not to hold your breath. Or if you do, bring an oxygen tank for the recovery.
I’d be more concerned about profit…..
The news has done very little to support the recent share price growth. We're sliding back to 50p...
Looks like clearing out of the old guard …..no doubt to buy the ceo more time

Hopefully doesn't affect turnover too much
Maybe Simon's - have heard the Dobbo has a new role elsewhere but is embargoed for now.
Hi Slave long time no see...more life on advfn for COST.
I think those guys careers, er, hit the crash barrier....:)
