And again like I said I’m not being negative just giving my view, no need to get sarcastic!
Smithy this is I am really glad that you brought this up and I think this is exactly why in-game advertising would work. The idea is that it would be seamlessly integrated into the game with graphics that are befitting of the genre. A point which has been missed by many is product placement is massive in films, BIDS offers this on a much bigger platform.
This isn't all about in-game advertising boards BIDS has so much more to offer the advertiser than that, if the only thing on offer was virtual advertising space I wouldn't have bothered. This gives the advertiser the ability to put their products in games not just their logo.
Are there any picture samples etc, would be interested to see how advert would actually blend into a game! I’m made a post over on Reddit’s gaming sub to try and get other people thoughts running on the idea of bidstack as a whole!
Watch this smithy this has got Bidstack adverts
https://youtu.be/fdFLqkYtRyA
Calamari no body ignores Bob or anybody else on this board all are entitled to there opinion
The guy said he wasnt deramping.. then listed 6 reasons why bids wouldn't work (or significant obstacles) then states hes not a holder ... then asks for how the adverts work...
Then calls me sarcastic... not true, just an observation
I agree smithy, as a gamer myself I also wondered about this as well. But I could definitely see advertising as part of a game. I do think that bidstack need to get past adverts that would normally be there as well adverts like in grid or football manager. In fortnite or any of the dystopian style games I could imagine old broken billboards, signs on a wall or trashed lorries with company logo on the side. It doesn't need to look all shinny and new for the advert to work.
Great point Bones, thinking outside the box.
Thats why James assembled such a plethora of big brains...and Bids vision is why they agreed to join.
Obviously for sports games the advertising element is easy because pitchside advertising actually exists in a real world context so replicate this space within a game and you only add to making it a more real immersive experience.
As you say the difficulty is bringing this to other genres of gaming. This I believe is where the brands can get creative to produce adverts that specifically relate to where they are appearing.
One thought I had on seeing the introduction of an outdoor cinema in the new fortnite map was that maybe there would be events like the live music event with Marshmello where an actual film could be shown there including adverts prior to the film. Audience of 10.7 million watched the DJ Marshmello event so major revenue to be made if the above happens.
As a gamer myself this is the real interesting part for me and I believe that ads can be introduced cleverly to a number of different gaming genres. As Calamari says GTA is basically trying to replicate a real-world setting so it would be extremely easy in this case to introduce ads into one of the world's biggest gaming franchises and again improve the realism of the environment for gamers rather than detracting from the experience.
Can`t see a brand being damaged just because their billboard is shown within a broken landscape, it would bring more authenticity to a war torn image.
logo`s on clothing?
Calamari, many used to say the same about allowing crash dynamics in racing games as the car manufacturers did not want their models to appear damaged, no longer factor.
I think there are some things that people think are a shoe in for Bidstack that won't happen, but many creative uses of in game placement and advertising will be utilised that have not even been imagined yet.
Can't see BIDS within the Grand Theft Auto world - a major highlight of GTA is the satirical nature of the game and the fact each city is effectively located within an alternative universe. For example Facebook is referred to as LifeInvader. I see no scope at all for real-world ads.
Cast your mind back to football games 15 years ago... they didn’t even have the players real names, clubs names etc Things change, now you can equip the players with branded boots ffs.
With GTA there are opportunities for the developer to utilise advertisements which are appropriate they have full control over what is displayed and what is not. I wouldn’t bet against them adding more realism to the series Over the next few releases.
MMOs like the Final Fantasy series and Period games like Kingdom Come Deliverance are likely more challenging than GTA.
