So, lbjj, if you were a rational govt making a rational decision (and I hope that's the case as all parties are sending information/evidence to be considered), why would the govt just take the CAB's word on the life of the mine. Don't you think they have an obligation to test that assertion and one way of doing that would be to consider any relevant information such as an updated scoping study? Just a thought.......

Kurt has said on many occasions that the already submitted application documentation warrants the granting of the license. Because he knows the scoping study is separate.
The application is not just a document it is also a process...apparently.
You do not have a case to rest. The scoping study does not form part of the application.
Ibjj....Argument just for the sake of argument doesn't interest me at all....if I say black you'll say white; so if you'll excuse me I have now rested my case.
If a scoping study was a requirement of the application process, it would have been carried out 5 years ago. BEM took it upon themselves to commission the study for their own good reasons. Nothing to do with the application process. The government know full well there is more of the ore body to prove up as any hypothetical mine is in development. The point is the governernment are not obliged to consider the studys findings. As you have pointed out, the government will not make a decision which is open to challenge. Imagine if the government said yes on the basis of the scoping study results. A challenge would immediately be made on the grounds that the scoping study falls outside the remit of the application process, which it does. Just my opinion .
The 14 years mine life comment used by the CAB comes from the Copenhagen Study, and refers to the amount of ore currently proved up at Kallak North. Was the Copenhagen Study in the original application, no, it was not. Therefore, the original application is not closed... which means it remains open. I don't know what the results of the Scoping Study will be, neither do you.
Spot on as usual. The scoping study is not directly linked to the application process. When the study is completed Kurt will post it as an RNS and it will show that the claims made by the CAB are nonsense.
Morning. The Government are only the highest authority, and only, hold all the cards, while they choose to do so. The mineral policy, is an adopted legal Government document, as is our application, an legal document. So then, I ask myself, will the Government chose to hold on to power over the Kallak(s) - you betcha! In my opinion only. atb
The CAB's response was based on a limited life of the mine. Do you think if the Scoping study showed the mine life would be three times longer the Government would stick their fingers in their ears and say "nope, not listening"
Hi It's nice to hear that you live in God's country, sunny Yorkshire. Well, it's sunny at the moment but that can change any second I worked in Lancashire about 100 years ago (it feels that long ago). I lived in Preston whilst working on the building of a gas plant just south of the city. If my memory serves me correctly I think the area was called Lostock Hall. I though Preston was a wonderful city. I had great time and made a lot of friends there before moving on to the next project.
What does?
Ibjj....That remains to be seen.
More wishful thinking Suzy. The application documentation is closed and forms 100% of the information the government is obliged to consider. Have the government specifically requested the results of the scoping study? No.
That is absurd...".the scoping study will not be admissible"...the application process has has run amok, whatever facts can be put on the table will have to be considered. The current 5 March date will include whatever can be included...any evidence is evidence and the 14 years comment is already in the ring.
Mateyboy....I see, so you're a Lancastrian and a Lancastrian with a capital L to boot ;-)
both lancashire and yorkshire, i'm from the reet side of the pennines tho, i am Lancastrian :))
Surely, this way, a decision, when it comes, has been considered by the powers to be less vulnerable to challenge. Not only, the Government are now, in control of the timescale. Any challenge to their eventual decision, and they would have less control over timescale, and very little control over the outcome. Not only, this way, if the Government grants a concession, BEMs appeal in respect of any potential partners in the short term, would be greater. In my opinion only. atb
I know full well that you have not filtered me. The scoping study results will not be admissible as part of the application process. The application documentation was completed some time ago as you well know. Of course Kurt is upbeat. He is attending a mining conference and it is his job. Negative and positive are not labels I recognise as I have said many times. There is only valid and invalid.
Hi Andy I know that you and I have had our 'moments' in the past but I would like to say that you are doing a great job clarifying what's happening over in Sweden right now. Best Wishes
He sticks around because he knows that at some point he will buy back in. And when he does he will be Mr Rampety Rampy.
Just Listened to this. Kurt sounds very sure of the outcome to me? I can wait another 3 weeks.
Good morning Reference your response to LBJJ's post. I agree with you that this is not the final outcome. Although it is only my opinion I think that Kurt wants to delay the process a little to await the conclusion of the ongoing scoping study which will delineate the boundaries of the Kallak ore deposits and the amount of ore. I think that the target for completion of that study is mid February. When the study is published it will blow away the CABs recent claim that Kallak is not worth mining. We don't hear from you very often but i know that you've been an investor in BEM for quite a while are probably aware that LBJJ is not an investor and only comes here to post negative comments. He has very right to do this but I have no idea why he does it. I filtered him a long time so I never see his posts but i do see lots of responses to his constant negativity. I just finished listening to Kurt's interview at the 121 mining conference in Cape town. He was very upbeat concerning Kallak and his other investments and he also made the point that BEM is not a one trick pony. atb
A timeline with a clear objective and a tight one = progress, looking much better than it was last week. Mateyboy...Is 'reet' Yorkshire?
