All Trolls from the same filthy pit. Be-gone evil one! Spread your poison no more !!!
Quote 'I doubt he is Crobe as Crobe did have good knowledge which he could back up.' I think you might want to look back at your posts to Crobe last year tyche - dripping with disdain would be how I would describe them,( similar to your posts now to HITS) I'm sure he'd laugh to see your new found admiration. Regarding posts below, you clearly both have good knowledge of the industry IMV (better than mine) - shame about the childish points scoring! Unfortunately good industry knowledge and profitable portfolios don't always go hand-in-hand..... HITS - can you just confirm you're not Crobe........? Wonder what happened to WhiteDawn/WhiteBlue, ramper extaordinaire ?
No crown for me, I called you out you had no answer. Simple
The trouble with the internet is the fact that any cut n paster can find a link which supports his or her own set of beliefs - and then sit and hug his or her knees smugly. Confirmation bias... it's a dangerous thing. Tyche, I have no intention of trying to steal your self-appointed and Google-gained guru's crown - stay at it my good man and keep banging the Avanti drum for all you're worth (though i doubt you need any encouragement). Me? I'll carry on living in the real commercial world of satellite-delivered connectivity.
I doubt he is Crobe as Crobe did have good knowledge which he could back up.
Headinthesand - you remind me a bit of a poster we had on this Board last year called crobe. It isn't you again under a different moniker is it? I hope so - I rather liked Crobe and his industry knowledge (sorry tyche...).
It's always good to have negative posters I've learnt lots from them over the years. But when so called industry experts tell porkies and try to spread doubt like you have I've proved each point wrong that you made, it was very easy. The google cut and pastes are from credible sources which I have previously read whilst doing research. Shame you won't provide your sources so there is nothing to ignore. Nevermind, all the best.
Not can't... won't. My opinions are formed from daily business experience and operating in the industry, rather than Google cut n paste. But that's fine - feel free to ignore. One should always be massively cynical when it comes to self-professed bulletin board experts...
Actually regarding Tooway the beams are not full but the spectrum efficiency is being obliterated due to their self install model meaning many antennas are not pointed correctly which causes huge problems. I've not read any complaints regarding the avanti services but all companies have churn rates. TBH you have raised some points over the last few days, like KU is needed for avation internet, I showed that KA is also in use and there is a market for both, you say EE 4g roll out will effect avanti, I pointed out that avanti are working with EE, you say about 5g and I provided information regarding Avanti and 5g (posibly). I ask you to provide information regarding your claims and you can't.
Tyche, yes most of Tooway's UK spotbeams have been full for a while, which is why they're pretty much operating a "one off, one on" policy. I'm also aware of AVN's role in providing pro-tem backhaul to the EE ESN contract. As to providing links showing that Avanti's Gilat-based 30 Mbps service is also up to and over capacity? No I can't. What I can say - and this will have to remain unsubstantiated - is that I'm personally very aware of high churn on the AVN 30Mbps service and numerous end-user complaints both into AVN's reseller base and those governmental departments providing subsidies. It was all great when there were just a few hundred on the west coast of Scotland during Avanti's phase 3 pilot project, but since nationwide roll-out of the 30Mbps services, things aren't quite so rosy. This is perhaps unsurprising if one does the maths - take the max Mbps capability of a KA transponder, decide what an acceptable level of monthly average QoS per user in Mbps is and then work out how many 30 Mbps users with what average GB per month allowance can be provisioned off said spot-beam... it's really not that many, if acceptable levels of service are going to be maintained.
Headinthesand, You do understand that Avanti will play a vital part in the ESN project as EE (BT) will use Avanti Bandwidth to supply 4g backhaul for the ESN project which you mention worth $29million (first phase) to Avanti with option to double the capacity, the coverage you mention at 95% would not be possible without huge infrastructure costs so satellite by Avanti is the most cost effective so that kind of blows your point out of the water. I see this as the tip of the iceberg as other operators may follow suit and it’s a great case study for new coverage areas such as West Africa. It’s actually Tooway who’s beams are saturated over the UK, Avonline actually stopped selling Tooway for a period for this very reason, can you present any links to say Avanti beams are suffering with the same problem? With regards to 5g, that’s an interesting point, you shouldn’t fear this, as announced yesterday at the Paris Air and space show 16 of the big players have signed up for development for 5g over satellite with the European space agency to develop 5g over satellite, you can read more here if you like http://www.esa.int/Our_Activities/Telecommunications_Integrated_Applications/Satellite_for_5G No conclusive proof who the 16 big players are but after some digging I did find this, if you scroll down to the 8th image you can see the logo’s https://twitter.com/pbdes?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.spaceintelreport.com%2Favanti-reports-continued-revenue-decline-africa-pricing-sees-turnaround-horizon%2F
Oh and PS all existing government subsidy schemes operational in the UK to fulfil the USC are technology neutral - they offer varying levels of subsidy up to a maximum to be used toards the CapEx cost of getting an approved service from an approved RSP (retail service provider). Subsidies can be used to get satellite broadband, or wireless broadband (if available) or 4G broadband (if in coverage). Small communities can even pool their subsidies and pass them over to BT via its Community Fibre Partnership program if they wish, to offset the cost of getting a new fibre-enabled cabinet deployed and thus being able to access an FTTC based service.
The BDUK Better Broadband subsidy scheme is one of (and by far the largest of) three subsidy schemes currently covering the entirety of the UK with the aim of covering off the USC (universal service commitment @ min 2Mbps). It is not new news and has been running since June 2015. Superfast Cornwall is mentioned, because although largely administered and entirely funded by BDUK, applicants have to apply to their regional broadband authority in order to access the subsidy available. Tyche is right... Avonline has been flogging Avanti and EutelSat/Tooway services for years and were indeed recently acquired by SSW (now there's an interesting and very well-managed company). Avonline were heavily pushing the newer Avanti KA 30Mbps packages deliverable via the Gilat hub that the government funded for Avanti under the Phase 3 pilot project, but that has (unsurprisingly) now become over-subscribed and average services are degraded. Which is probably why that quoted Avonline piece mentions Avanti in one breath, but then bangs on about Tooway services (22Mbps) in the next. It's all a bit moot really, as far as satellite delivered broadband goes in the UK, because it's getting so squeezed out to the extreme edges by the rampant rise of 4G which is so much more reliable, much faster, much cheaper from a CapEx point of view to install and much more cost-effective on a per GB basis. Given that EE recently won a government contract based around the emergency services that requires them to deliver a 95% geographic (yes geographic, not population) 4G coverage by 2020, this is only going one way. And that's before we've even mentioned future 5G roll-outs...
Whilst any contract win is good news I find myself distinctly underwhelmed by the Avonline announcement. I would assume that the "up to" £1.2 million means that it is the full amount if everyone available to, took up the offer, and how likely is that? Everyone has their own opinions/beliefs/methodology to value a company and it's prospects and I respect all other trains of thought. Personally I still cannot see revenue coming in at a rate likely to transform Avanti's prospects. It is now 12 months sine any directors purchased shares, and if they do not have the confidence to invest in the company, knowing much more than we do and at the current price, what does that tell us? I remain a shareholder only because it is not worth selling up and crystallising a 98% loss, so I am hanging on hoping but not expecting a miracle. Best wishes and good luck to us all.
Keep up robbie, Avonline has been a client of Avanti for a long time more recently becoming a partner for the BDUK project as previously stated, Also Avonline were bought by SSW last year, SSW also own Europasat and are acquiring other companies which operate in 32 countries, Add Bentley walker and that’s the three main satellite broadband providers in Europe and beyond selling avanti Bandwidth. No doubt you will find some negative points but looks good to me.
Of course Avonline is not new! But you're missing the point. The ERDF are subsidising to the tune of £1mn+ ! This will drive up demans and this IS new..... Read again. Avanti Communications Group plc, a leading provider of satellite data communications services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), announces a contract win with ERDF for up to £1.2m to support the deployment of 40Mbps broadband services to rural businesses across Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. Services will be available through Avanti's certified Service Providers, Bentley Walker SSW and Avonline. The broadband packages are available now and will enable small businesses in the region to have a high quality and reliable broadband service, even in the most rural areas. Approximately 1,000 businesses are expected to take up the offer in the first year.
Not new, been around for months if not years. Make your own mind up. http://avonlinebroadband.com/
Disagree with their HOLD recommendation. At current absurd price levels this has to be an obvious BUY. Sure there's debt but every startup carries debt. Just a matter of time and I'm in no hurry.....
mdmd - That is indeed one potential scenario.
OOPS there it is again https://markets.ft.com/data/equities/tearsheet/forecasts?s=AVN:LSE&mhq5j=e1
Hope its not a case of company surviving and prospering but current set of shareholders being completely wiped out.... debt levels are so high its just a binary bet now
Happy to wait & see.

Two swallows don't make a summer. We need numerous contracts each measured in the terms of ten of millions of pounds revenue p. a., not ones just sufficient to restock the BoD's drinks cabinet.
Keep getting a contract win every 3 days and we will be sorted!!
