Fair enough hopefully it will save lives.. Just need to get it into production and fast..
By the way, the affimer binds to the virus' spike protein binding surface. This prevents the virus from binding to ACE2 receptors and thereby infecting the cell.
Posh79 are you really saying that the Oxford professor needs “his head looked at”?
Don’t get me wrong I’m still heavily invested in Avacta (currently forever) and I do feel that their test is going to be the “go to” test and we are all going to do well but I just wish they would hurry up!
I know that’s a ridiculous thing to say when you consider what they are doing.
Even ORPH are testing now (that’s not a ramp because I have just sold all my shares there and bought AML - now that is a ramp).
Fingers crossed for a RNS Tuesday morning.
Cindy - If the old affirmers cannot attach to the new mutation's spike proteins, it is only a matter of weeks before Avacta is able to create new affimers that are able to do exactly that!
Morning Cindy, just do a bit of research and your doubts will disappear. If it mutates, in a matter of weeks Avacta can knock out another batch of affimers and on we go.
I hope so Metis, but if a vaccine can't adapt I doubt a 10min saliva strip would.
I still believe the key to fighting this covid 19 is to keep the body in day mode, as the immune system is just ticking over nicely, when the body goes into night mode that's when the T cells/ protein S overwhelm the lungs and cause the inflammation, the patients my not die at night but that's when the damage is done. So somehow we need to keep the body in day mode at night so its immune system is at 50%. I have had covid, 9 weeks ago and still exactly between 9 and 10 at night I can still feel my body attacking it, that's why people are so tired even after 8 weeks, your body is still working overboard at night.. its like your body is getting injected with a venom and you cam feel it running through your veins.
For gawds sake just get the bleedin test out every man and his dog has a test out July maybe too late!
There
The death rate should fall with lockdown the virus is still out thrre
Hang on. Covid19 is disappearing - the government show us that at 5pm every evening. The reason, in my uninformed opinuon, is that we have adopted the lock down measures. Have I missed something?
Alistair has already addressed the issue of virus mutation. He says its unlikely to mutate much - which I think he is referring to the spike protein as this is key for the virus particle to bind with the ACE2 human receptor and start the infection process. In any case, it took Avacta 4 weeks to find the best Affimers, so if the spike protein does indeed mutate (and somehow still can bind with ACE2), it won't take long for Alistairs team to find new targeting Affimers.
Hardly. Anyone that thinks it is going to disappear needs their head looked at. We are just coming off a lockdown so focourse the numbers have fallen substantially. That was the aim of the lockdown. In two to three weeks the cases will start to increase again and they are expecting a second wave Aug/Sept
May well be that a number of affimers will be present in the test strip, each one binding to a different part of the virus' spike protein. WIth luck, virus mutation will not change the spike protein to such an extent that none of the affirmers in the test strip are able to attach themselves to the altered spike protein.
cindy thinks this is a P&D
Buying shares in any company is a long difficult process involving many hours of research but selling is a whole new ball game.
Sell some, top slice, wait until tomorrow, keep forever, FOREVER?, should have sold yesterday, f**ck sell NOW.
Done them all and some.
Anyone who was around in dot com boom/bust knows exactly what I am talking about.
Everything comes to an end it’s all about timing.
Every one and their dog is producing test kits.
Got a short on Cindy
That's concerning.. :(
So this report basically implicates that AVCT test will be absolutely useless if it only picks up one strain of covid..
try telling Latin America it is disappearing fast.
'Brazil overtook Russia on Friday in terms of the number of coronavirus cases, Reuters reports, having registered 330,890 people who have contracted the virus – second only to the United States. Brazil registered 1,001 daily coronavirus deaths on Friday, taking the total deaths to 21,048, according to the health ministry. However, the true numbers – both of cases and deaths – is probably higher as Latin America’s top economy has been slow to ramp up testing.'
Covid bubble??
Oxford Professor : Coronavirus disappearing so fast.
I can’t be the only person who is turning a blind eye to this.
