It’ll probably will be a while before a full roll out. This is due to the additional lay user study that could take a while and it’ll take some time to ramp up to max supply of 120m+. However, the immediate POC volumes via BBI & Abingdon will be snapped up immediately and they’ll use a similar approach to the Redcar trial to get those out for tactical testing. If we get an Awacta test in someone’s hands by the end of the year and we have many millions a week flying out by spring I’ll be delighted
Boris also said thr next few weeks for the test.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it before then, I'm just mentally prepared if we don't hear anything about clinical use approval by end of November
Boris was definately on the blower to big Al before the press conference clarifying what words to use :)
The test will be here before spring lambs are born.
I reckon it'll be here this year for sure.
Still can't get over the word "INFECTIOUS" that Boris used. Sir Al highlighted that our test detects if you are "INFECTIOUS" or not. You can have Covid whilst being past the stage of infecting other people.
I'm just going by the timelines given to us by Avacta interview (clinical approval q4, self test market 2021 their words), what I've read into the cytiva interview other day and what govt have announced before about the spring target. Given how slow condor has been Avacta could well be ready to go for home use in Jan, but not on 10m units a month. Either we're not being told the whole story yet, or Al is waiting till early next year to scale up production. Just imo, I'm happy to wait.
If by summer nova are running the clinical tests in all hospitals and Avacta have a huge hand in self testing for next 36 months, I'll be a marginally happier man.
One thing for certain we have got to have a RNS this week, another week without news would send this BB into anarchy.
I couldn’t put up with Mortgage, Global and the other gob****es for another week without news.
Whatever the govt announce, it will be a stopgap until our test is available in the spring. Best estimates are that covid will be around for 18 months, worst estimate is decades. There is no one boat, Avacta may be one of the later ones to market, much like apple didn't make a phone until 2007 and brought in new tech like capacitive touch screens, they've not done too badly since. We're bringing in new tech - affimers - which from reading should be pretty easy to tailor to future strains, much like PCR just needs a minor software update, hence it being the gold standard for 40 years. Can other lateral flow tests be tweaked as easily without having to go through validation?
Boris said and thanks to “Live Pause” I quote:
“We now have the immediate prospect of using many millions of cheap reliable and above all RAPID turn-around tests, tests that you can use yourself to tell you whether or not you’re infectious and get the result within 10 to 15 minutes and we know from trials across the country in schools and hospitals that we can use these tests not just to locate infectious people but to drive down the disease and so over the next few days and weeks we plan a steady but massive expansion in the deployment of these quick turnaround tests applying them in an ever growing number of situations from helping women to have their partners with them in labour wards when they’re giving birth to testing whole towns and even whole cities. The Army has been brought in to work on the logistics and the programme will begin in a matter of days. Working with local communities, local Government public health Directors, organisations of all kinds to help people discover whether or not they’re infectious and then immediately to get them to help them to self-isolate and stop the spread of the disease.”
Why would it be ODX - come on guys....
Don't forget this was going to be a Monday evening press conference. If it is us there really has to be an RNS on Monday.
@iphone - so let’s get Themis straight, the country gets put in to lockdown and your first thought is, ooo I’ll go on to a board of a stock I’m not even invested in to stir the poop.... wow, you must be very very lonely.
Squeaky Bum Time Then
Is it us?
Given Tech Transfer hasn't beem RNS'd and given Big Al said that it would be - it shouldn't be us.
Given there are NDA's in place and given this latest lockdown needed to be accompanied by some good news - it could mean Big Al has been prevented from issuing tech transfer RNS - it could be us
Given Boris talked of "rapid tests that can be done at home to see if you are infectious" - it could be us.
The squeaky bum bit?
If rapid, do at home, catching infectious tests are coming out in days that are not us. Means someone else has won the biggest race in human history.
NO its not your test
Not ODX or AVCT
Innova is the one. Being used in Redcar, supported by the army. Saliva.
avct are going to miss the boat.
Unfortunately not
Is this going to be our test?
Guys, if you have done some real research, then you could hedge your investment (as opposed to trade (respect to you guys) or BOOM, WOW (no respect to you guys :-))
I’ve never found anything from SD biosensor that wasn’t a swab despite that link saying saliva. Home tests will never be swab based.
Hang on, has Tech Transfer been achieved yet !
agree. There will be multiple partners involved. Here is the list of first wave of assessment. You can see some of the others involved:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/assessment-and-procurement-of-coronavirus-covid-19-tests/lateral-flow-devices-results#test-1-sd-biosensor-lateral-flow-test
It was the specific mention of “will tell you if you are infectious” as opposed to just ‘have the virus’. This is almost word to word from the AVCT presentation and Q&A.
I think it could be odx initially, however I dont think boris will put all of his eggs in one basket. In crisis you take what you can get......
I think avct have a place in this. Just hold on.
Boris just said Lateral Flow Test....
Tech Transfer RNS Monday ????
Surely Avacta ill roll a six eventually
