time to don life jackets for those with substantial holdings before it ditches, what a great shame it has come to this.
Like many retail stocks this has been battered. Is it a question of he/she who dares wins or a race to the bottom?
Mulder do you think they will keep the full year dividend? When is this forecast to be paid?
Mulder, luckily I don't have that many, I think my top SP was around a dizzy 30p when I dipped in many years ago, I lived in hope that it would be a great British company again, however I gave up on that ages ago, my holding value is so small now that I'm not bothered by any drops, however I sincerely hope that someone will take this away from the present owners and make it British again but sadly I think it's way too late.
I check on ALY every now and then, I used to have a small holding but the deteriorating financials scared me off. The dividend cut seemed inevitable in my view. Anyway I wasn't brave enough to open a short but made a mental note that I'd sell at the current price given the risks. Thought it may be of interest to re-post the original comment - good to have some contradicting viewpoints I suppose. Posted on 23 Aug 2017 when SP was 8.35p (currently 4.5p as of today). "Not trying to de-ramp here but has anyone actually looked at the financials? The company only generated cash flow of 5.8m in 2017, however it has short term borrowings of 12m to pay back this year. How the hell are they going to pay that back?! Also, even more alarmingly, it appears to have a negative cash balance of 10.7m. Just look at the dash near cash and cash equivalent and then go to note 4 to see the breadkdown. No wonder the board halted the dividends, they had no choice. You guys need to look at the financials or risk being seriously burned. Any else agree/disagree with this? - also posted on AVFN in hope of reply"
Milder have you emailed that address are you optermistic regarding a recovery ??? Do you think they will pay the full year dividend and when? My average is now 6.6p on a rather large amount of shares..pisd of yes but reckon these will recover and come good again and shortly as well
Looks like AJ16 you have been invested here for a while. I feel for LTH as ALY is sat at an all time low share price. Email: KC.Ng@lauraashley.com CEO
how many are you holding then?
Trading at all time lows. Even during the credit crunch SP was 20-25p Does not seem to be riddled with debt, has net assets of 40M and still making a profit. Current market cap is virtually the same as what they paid for the Singapore building in 2014-15; 31M+
There seems no interest from management to engage with shareholders and try to turn this awful sp around, it's like they couldn't care less. What is the plan?
thanks Mulder. when is this due to be paid?
Interim yes but final dividend still possible. 0.5p final would equate to 10% at current SP.
Haven’t they cancelled dividend
Insane.
Minimal intangibles/goodwill on the books. This is now trading below the book price which is around 5.3p Even a 0.5p dividend at full year will give a yield of 10% if the SP stays here.
To rise today and 5p was the bottom
steady buying seems more than normal here. Could this be in for a recovery after all this time?
Cold as fook where I am

Laura Ashley has appointed strategic comms agency Halpern. The home and fashion retail brand has briefed the agency to promote its array of products, as well as work on special projects, including publicising its 65th anniversary this year. Part of that will involve telling the story of Laura Ashley, whose roots extend back to 1953, when a Women's Institute exhibition at the V&A inspired Laura and Bernard Ashley to begin printing fabric. Ladies that lunch would love that. They generally have n idea of the value of money so will beveasily fleeced, two to one, save 5, you know the score. Stroke of genius, I think!
Looks like they are going to be putting their faith into tea rooms and hotels, licensing their brand to existing hotels, what does this entail exactly I dont know, do you after buying a licence agree to furnish, decorate your hotel using LA products and then LA take a slice of your profits too? Refurbish regularily as dictated by LA. Then there is to be Tea rooms, knocking out eggs benedict brunch with unlimited prosecco for 20, t and c apply. Not sure if this is the way forward but everything else seems to be failing, it would be a shame to see this British institution go the same way as some of our other Great British high street stores.

Reflects.
A well known and well liked brand. The share price barely defects the value of the goodwill in this company, nev mind the money in the bank.
