Quite clearly the board have overseen and continue to oversee destruction of value.
A prestigious brand that has been poorly capitalized on with all kinds of non-core activities. It owns property it could offload, for one.
The Singapore connection needs to be cut.
I do wonder why the institutional investors have not taken more action. With effective leadership there is so much potential for this company.
It needs a proxy contest.
Interesting that a new store has been opened in Leeds today.

This is being systematically run down by the Singy BOD. Even the advisers have resigned and the manegement buying properties in Singapore not related to the core business PIs dont have enough votes (shares) to stop whats happening here. Its disgraceful. I think they will run it down to tuppence and low bid to steal the company or get enough stock to delist. Good luck all, this would normally be a good investment if the BOD represented the investors best interests.
.
1 million shares just bought at 5.7p. Good to see big buys coming in
Any ideas why this went up by 36% on Thursday?
Another 35% rise, i hope? Heaven knows we all need it!
None of ALYs market competitors have budged today. There is no news from ALY. No announcements are due.... as I mentioned previously when I held Premier Farnell a year or so back, that SP behaved like this share. Strong drive up; unable to buy/sell. Then the take over offer happened. Question is, if it is a takeover, what will the bid price be?
Should of topped up at 4p! No announcement yet or explanation of why the sudden rise this afternoon?
I had long given up on these and resigned myself to a substantial loss. You mean to say they might actually be worth something. Mind you the amount my wife spends in their store she is propping up the company on her own.
I always thought a P/E of 4 was obscene.
Could be revival for Laura Ashley in Far east (Singapore) and back in UK and Europe..GLA Dipped my toe, lets see what news is in front of us
Big news coming soon , enjoy the ride holders !
And another 200000 taken at 5.76p.
Someone just bought 150000 @ 5.77. Onwards and upwards!
Nice to see, hope long term holders were able to buy. Heres to it hitting double digits
I’m being offered 5.43p for my holding. I’m able to buy and sell.
Can’t buy or sell shares at the moment in ALY..... last time that happened to me was when I held Farmell...... and they were take over. Here’s hoping?
The share price fall in this stock over the last year and a half is overdone.Looking at the purchase over the last few days this share is going to recover strongly shortly.
Did somebody say BREAKOUT?!
The interim accounts that were shown would include any effect of the profit for that interim period - and still an 8.5m overdraft. Profit also does not necessarily equate to cash. Money spent on assets for example would reduce cash and not affect the profit other than by any depreciation for that period. I'm a long term holder down by a lot on my purchase price but cannot see how they will ever generate enough cash to resume dividends unless they dispose of the folly of the building they purchased in Singapore....
Probably associated with improvements in currency exchange rates, which will positively influence ALY’s in year profitability.
Any thoughts anyone?
