Will be paid?
I think everyone is entitled to their opinion. Surely the only way is up for LA?
The share price has collapsed enough without the need for a de-ramper!
If you search ''recalls of clothing'' you will see lots of other High Street stores have at some time recalled clothing!
Exceptional £2.8 million impairment charge due to the revaluation of a freehold property full-year results on August 23rd
Laura Ashley girl's dresses have been recalled due to a choking hazard. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website, the Laura Ashley London girl's floral clip dot dresses have been recalled because they have flower petals that can detach, posing a choking hazard to children. The dresses were sold in newborn to girl’s sizes 0/3M through 6X at Dillard’s stores nationwide and online from Amazon and Zulily for between $27 and $40 from January 2017 through July 2017.
1983 - 1996 - Executive October 28, 2004 until August 10, 2017 - resigned as independent non-executive director
LA sell some lovely stuff, and they are a worldwide brand! Surely the only way is up from here!
You could be right AJ16. I'm only in for a small amount now so I'll hold fire.
Not good news but then as a long term shareholder who has watched the steady decline, the share price hasn't been this low for over 10 years so it's quite clear that despite various persons here trying to 'big' things up over the past months, that this company is in bad shape and in dire need of new management, new direction. and a USP which sets it apart from the voracious competitors. The stores look like glorified charity shops and the mirror furniture is plain weird and no match for Heals range. IMO it's a gloomy outlook unless they act positively soon to bring back British designed & made products- avoid/sell.
I am not sure I would assume that FredRubble, the RNS could cover both (Exceptional and ongoing trading) .When companies do issue a revision statement then they could also take the opportunity to wipe the slate clean on all the risk areas built up on the balance sheet. Hope the for dividend GLA
LA sell very nice stuff, be it expensive, but it is very nice. I have bought a few things and they still look very good, I would say the items they sell are quality! For a worldwide brand 9p is very very cheap, surely the only way is up from here. Lets hope LA pay the dividend this should restore the share price!!
Ouch
Thanks, Am I correct in thinking then that the impact on the "net pre tax profits" due to "trading conditions have continued to be demanding" can not be material as this would have required earlier separate notification by RNS?
Net is after the exceptionals
"The Board of the Company therefore expect net pre-tax profits for the year ended 30 June 2017 will now be materially below market expectations". Is the "net pre-tax profits" before or after the exceptional charge?
I read that they had 40x debt which included dividend cover. That sounded pretty healthy to me, but given their poor performance this could change quickly. I have only read a couple of articles from early in the year so DYOR. I have not looked into their accounts in detail.
how much cash have they got at the moment Fagen39? So ex dividend date is the 23rd August? Thanks
If they do choose to pay the usual dividend on the 24th Aug then this could bounce. But personally I am down and would not want to purchase any more currently, but they have the cash to be able to to pay the dividend and debt interest comfortably from what I can see.
I don't know if this is old news , but I see that the Laura Ashley stores in Homebase have gone , apparently due to Homebase being taken over by a new owner . I wonder what effect this is having . I think Laura Ashley sell some great well designed stuff and are a very well known and respected brand but something clearly is not working . I hope my holding will bounce back eventually .
This is crazy and I do think this is a deliberate attempt to take it down... Anyway, one week and we will see.
Forgot to say - I expect no dividend, and further fall. I don't normally go for the doom and gloom approach, but for this share at the moment, I'm afraid its going to need a strong person to be able to turn it around (generally feel this for shops on the high street).
got a ridiculous loss here now, about 60% down, can see it never improving, closed the shop in bluewater a good year ago now, shops are doing ok, but generally it always has a sale on, or is full price for about 2 weeks, before reductions start. Its a good brand, be interesting to see how the tw hotels are doing, but I suspect a mark down a bit more yet. I certainly won't be picking up any more shares (rightly or wrongly). It feels like its been a downward trend for the last 2 years. Falling into the abyss!
ex dividend day is 24th August , but will they pay a dividend this year ?
to take the share price lower??
