Perfect major investor, government that thinks in terms of gdp, islamic finance/ interest rates, next gen technology and emerging markets. If VOD has bottomed out, performance tracks gdp and interest rates, whilst a new CEO might put some fizz back in. Seems there is no shortage of cash in VOD and the BoD committed to 9 eurocents div per annum. Softening inflation and interest rates ought to see this track back to 120's, not in a straight line though LoL
I think you can read more into this if you want to, but it does look like they have bought the extra shares off of someone else and not in the market so that means there could be a game on here.
Remember that they or anyone else could make a full bid at any time for any shares as do not need to already have a 30% holding, it's only when someone holds a 30% holding they then have to make clear their intentions.
But one thing is for sure and that is VOD are undervalued.
Well it did snow last night - lovely ski slope going on today
Doing its usual - nice rise first thing then a drop back down - be in the red again soon .
Red finish mike?
8%-10%+ yield and capital appreciation from the lows of 83p - no wonder.
Add and trim on a whim and collect the dividend.
Some day there will be a rally to 120p - unexpected as usual.
Hopefully they buy up to 30% and make a bid in 1 year.
A long way off the 30pct required to table a bid but what this indicates to me is how cheap this share is - I added more this morning -

If I've worked it out correctly it's just under 1% ,approximately 0.942% increase, so its anyone's guess whether they'll issue an RNS.
Barely any sp movement on news.
UAE telecommunications company Etisalat (e&) has further increased its stake in Britain’s Vodafone Group.
The telecoms group now holds more than 3.272 billion shares in Vodafone, representing 12% of the British mobile phone firm’s issued share capital, excluding treasury shares, Etisalat told the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) on Wednesday.
The additional shares were acquired for an undisclosed amount on Tuesday, January 17, and is part of the strategy to “obtain significant exposure to a global leader”.

Just found this

Nothing in news so far. Nothing on retuers
"No rns"
If it's a full 1% increase, I expect an RNS will be in the pipeline. If it's just under 1%, maybe not.
No rns
They now own 12.0% OF VODAFONE'S ISSUED SHARE CAPITAL. Are these stealth incremental moves "creeping acquisition" ?????

Hope so Mikey. Just bought in today so probably my fault!
Hi Trenners. Sorry, but I meant after 2 years you would hold about £30,000 of shares at todays sp. , so would pay about £45 a year for that holding . The following year you would hold about £45,000 of shares, so pay about £68 & so on. Of course if your holding increases in value more than this, you pay even more. DODL sounds good though for you, so good luck.
Pretty crap end to the day after it started so well . Lets hope it can stay above 92p and not start moving back down again
Looks like the last half hour decline has started today
@danielh - for clarity - there are no dealing charges in DODL at all - only the 0.15% / 12 monthly charge (with a minimum of at least £1 charged assuming the above calculation is below £1).
It's brilliant! And I don't work for them! But I've had great fun with it over the last year - not very useful for quick in and out trading ....
But if you want to build a pound cost averaged stake in something over a number of days or weeks or months ... It's fabulous ....
You can even buy and sell a single share if you want .... No charge!
@danielh I think you DODL calculations are incorrect. If we assume VOD is £1 a share and we buy 300 shares a week then, after a year, we will hold 15,600 shares in DODL.
The DODL charges are 0.15% of the total holding per ANNUM - so the annual charge would be 15600 * 0.15% so £23.40 per annum - so about £2 a month.
However, the minimum monthly charge on DODL is £1 so, in the early months of ownership we would be charged £1 rather than the 0.15% / 12.
So the charges aren't too bad at all and work well with the MF article as I suggested before.
Trenners
Trenners. Thanks for replying, not sure the 3pm would work very well for some, but good luck mate.
Trencherpilot. Thanks for that info. So the the 300 shares a week would cost about £195 a year, 12 x 9.99 plus £75. So about 2 months of divi's. Glad you have saved money though, sounds like you trade often, good luck.
@danielh DODL is fabulous if you have a small holding and would work really well with the MF article.
Its not suitable for day trading really because you can only deal at 3pm each day.
Also not suitable for very large investments.
But to dabble with small investments - perhaps adding weekly or even daily - it's quite good.
