Wells Fargo calling 2.2% inflation by end of the year in US
BoA upgraded VOD from neutral to buy this morning
Terminal rate lower makes the asset sales more valuable
Lower inflation means less risk on costs (VOD has energy costs hedged)
Getting to grips with Spain
Planetary alignment today...
Be 120 by May i reckon, pick up the divi too and it'll be a great run
robleo - looking at around 107p at the moment, but may adjust that depending on market conditions. Certainly won't be holding past that as markets starting to look a bit toppy. May even sell some or all at 100p as that's probably going to be a big area of resistance, and I'd rather bank some profits in the next week or so before earnings seasons starts in earnest as it could be a catalyst for big market moves in either direction.
Poker,
I think you are right. A small correction perhaps to reflect lower inflationary pressures, in the absence of any other news. Gas prices are indeed lower and will feed through over the next few months, and if Vod were worried about massively increasing energy costs, then these are unlikely to last very long, especially if they have the clout to obtain good tariffs throughout their areas of operation.
5% increase in share price today? Happy with that after recently topping up below that level.
Compound, what price are you looking for to sell ?
Cheers
"Summer divi is safe"
Even if it is cut by a third...it has been priced in the lows of 84p -90p - IMO
Patient
The market thinks that as inflation may have peaked and is now falling slowly , as seen today in the US figure...that the ECB may not be as aggressive as Lagarde has suggested. “The ECB is not pivoting,” Lagarde has said, promising at least two more 0.5 percentage point rate increases in February and March.
Here we go - last half hour - will we stay above 91p ???
Lets hope so for a change .
It's in the RNS....Marge is in the hotseat until at least August...Summer divi is safe
Poker, I had noticed this but something going on in Spain does not warrant such a rise surely?
https://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2023/01/12/vodafone-spains-ceo-colman-deegan-resigns/
Lots of orders filling up , chunky buys - hoping for a nice afternoon rise
Patient…. Vodafone Spain CEO resign…..see above news story….maybe relevant to rise today…
Well looks like the strategy is for Marge to flog the underperformers until atleast August...Given that XD is in May the next divi at least seems safe and the market likes it by the look of it.
Anyone know why Vod has gone up so much today? Any announcements or news, or is it that the "active" shareholders Cevian etc... have now divested and there is less selling pressure?
I think this also. Regarding Direct Line I used to use them for years but havent had any sensible quotes off them for about 8 years now and I havent had any claims for donkeys. They seem to pride themselves in not using comparison sites but this is their undoing IMO !
50 day ma 92.2
lucky - the BOD will have seen what happened to Direct Line yesterday when they cut their final dividend and will no doubt be even more wary of messing with the divi
Meh - Old news. I watched the interview on Bloomberg yesterday. They bought in Dec 21 and sold out a few months later at a profit.
I sold out Q1 last year as they weren't making any substantial progress on mergers/sales, and with rates increasing M&A was going to be dead in the water for a while so made sense to bank profits at top of trading range. Bought back in a few weeks ago as I think the drop was overdone. I won't be a long term holder - just looking for a little bounce above 100 to bank some more profits and move on....
The question is will it hold today? from 12 onwards it normally falls back which is sickening
Yes it's good to see this starting to move up at last. we all know that it will be back over a £1 -£1.15 soon it's just a question of time. New year , New high. !!!!!
3% up... This more like it
Nice!
3% up... This more like it
if i thought they would continue with this divy id buy tomorrow but am unsure they will
