Yes. The rumours/positivity pushed the sp up a year ago. But now we have 3 big players on board. Also increasing their stake gradually. Even if nothing no bid, hopefully the sentiments will push sp up to 140/150 like last year
Lol this happened a year ago
Have you noticed shorts are also closing !
Even though the sp is not moving much right now, am sure there’s a lot of activity going on in the background. Don’t forget that 1% of vod is equal to around £270/£280m. If e& spending this much every 3/4 weeks to increase their stake, this is quite aggressive. Something will pop….
We will have to wait and see. But I can’t imagine e& increasing their stake because they want a merger with 3. Most probably they want whole of vod. Also John Malone taking a stake possibly because he doesn’t want Vod going to a competitor. He may even counter bid.
But we wait and see….
soton, I was thinking if it would be the same as what happened to Tesco and Aviva when they sold off part of their business, and they returned cash to share holders but you then ended up with less shares, which meant you was no worse off but no better off either, not sure if that could happen with Vodafone ?
With their massive debt, abjectly poor performance in their most important market & dwindling income any company would have to have deep pockets & a lack of business acumen to takeover here. If ever a company needs to be broken up & its directors sued for overpaying hugely for previous acquisitions (right back to Mannesman) then it’s VOD
Wisebear if there was a takeover bid what would accept per share? Personally i'd take anything over £1.40 as this would give me a nice healthy profit....
Vodafone have kept stum so far for the last 3 months , It may be now that the news is out that they intend to merge with 3 a bid emerges quite quckickly , interesting to see the share price moved quickly from the lows once Emirates raised it share holding to 11% stake in Vodafone- Dec 2022.
Liberty Global aslo acquired a 4.92% stake in Vodafone, saying it believed the shares were undervalued in Feb 2023.
Article - Is Vodafone about to become a takeover target? The once-mighty giant is in danger of becoming a sitting duck for overseas buyers, says ALEX BRUMMER - Dec 2022.
Talatum
"Me cautiuos, "In the UK it seems all telecom service providers are going to increase prices in unison." If true is this not against law"
Annual CPI rate plus 3.9% for Vodafone and not solely limited to telecoms as (usually) a basic principle of initial agreement if term greater than 12 months and applied each April.
Me cautiuos, "In the UK it seems all telecom service providers are going to increase prices in unison." If true is this not against law
the merger with 3three should hopefully be good news and improve on share price which is an absolute joke. cant believe VOD trading at under pennies. couldn't make it up.
Hi
I was thinking the same. Net equity after deducting all liabilities is still around £55b. Currently market pricing it at £27b. I think bid is coming around 40/45b….
Morning , I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the 3 Merger , also the large share stakes purchased in the last few months by Emirates telecoms , could there be a full blown takeover bid , there is also Liberty who bought a large chunk of shares recently?

Here comes the America open drop into the Red
This deal is almost certain to happen…..past mergers have seen mistakes by OFCOM / CMA and unbalanced the mobile market in favour of EE and O2.
My guess is the regulators will impose open access to MVNOs - that has gone badly for 3 and VOD in Italy where Illiad has been taking market share off both…..but that pain is far better than living with two sub-scale networks gradually losing to the current big two.
The alternative is two lame duck networks.
Looked good earlier - looks like we are dropping back again
I think endgame is an IPO and 3 get a return on their investment.
Shares suspended
Probably not earnings accretive as VOD are reducing their share of UK market. To get a larger share 3 are taking on some VOD debt effectively in the 51:49 JV
Like a stealth selling off of assets. New CEO will arrive too late to stop it.
